[Scrath build] AEG-77 Vigo

Recommended Posts

So I've taken a commission to build an AEG-77 Vigo. In some weak moments I almost wish I hadn't. This ship is complex! Anyway here is my current progress. The main hull has been built around a set of different shaped boxes and that's what the first set of pictures mainly show.

As a scratchbuilder, I know it would be painful to have to start over, but it really is WAY underscale. I hope your client wanted it that way...

But on the flip side, I think I might have to build me one of these. :)

Gotta' go with MF here.

It should be about 40% larger, I think.

In what scale? 1/270 maybe, but if it's going in as a huge ship, then 1/400 or 1/450 right?

In a drop from 1/270 to 1/450 it would loose that 40%.

At 45m it would be 16.67cm long. Due to practical concerns (those damnably long prongs) I've downsized it slightly so that it will be about 15-15.5 cm long. Also, I did discover that the height and width are clearly wrong. For instance, 35m wide would mean that it would be 13cm wide, which is wider by a large margin than the length of the main hull (disregarding the prongs)! Just by looking at the ship should tell you how wrong that would be.

As for how big the ship was in SW:Galaxies, well I have no idea as I've never played it. So from the information I have, yes the ship is slightly smaller than it should be. Probably closer to 1/300 scale than 1/270.

Almost forgot, I tried disregarding the prongs when measuring the ship. The width and height was closer to being correct then but the overall length, with prongs, ended up at over 25cm! Thats huge ship territory. I also found a pic where a YT-2400 was almost side by side with an AEG so I could extrapolate the width to be fairly close to a 2400 which is 28,5m.

Well that's the thing. The AEG-77 Vigo was one of the biggest ships you could own in SWG. Next to the Imperial and Rebel gunboats, it was the closest we'd ever get to a capital ship... And it's armed like one too. As you could see they were also fairly nimble for a ship of their size.

So, honestly. A Vigo might be pretty damned OP.

Um, you probably should include a J/K at least to let people know you're joking...

You guys and gals know me by now. That was me being cute and joking on the people that hate.

:P

Mac knows **** well we love him plenty... even when he makes BIG models to dad-blam-small!.
