For me this would be:

Homeworlds:

> Schola Progenium

> Feudal World

> Civilized World = Imperial World

> Penal World

> Fortress World / War World

> Frontier World

> Agri-World

> Mining Colony

Backgrounds:

> Imperial Navy

> Trade Cartel / Syndicate / Sector House

> Mind-Cleansed

> Manofactorum Worker / Farmer / Miner

Roles:

> Operator

> Commander

> Agent / Infiltrator

> Navigator (for RT compatibility)

Elite Packages:

> Exorcised

> Cybernetical Ressurection
> Mutant
> True Believer (Faith Talents)

> Possessed

> Astropath (for RT compatibility)

What about you ?

I'd love more homeworlds and backgrounds. The fact that there are only Adeptus Terra backgrounds for the game makes my hair stand!

I mean I've played characters who were not nearly part of the Adeptus Terra. I think the curent backgrounds limits the character possibilities a great deal.

Tau sympathiser :)

Basically evrything GauntZero said, plus:

Chrono gladiator (elite pack)

paradise world (homeworld) they exist apearantly but i want stats and background on them.

Ratling characters (inquisitors like having a small sniper infiltrator)

Disenfranchised rogue trader (elite pack)

Heretek (for radical inquisitors) "i keep telling you, lightswitches do NOT have machine spirits!"

Magos Biologis (elite pack)

I'd love to see all of those, plus Rogue Trader (background or elite advance).

I agree with insanit, Navigator is a better fit as a Background.

I definitely want to see more background that are not Adeptus Terra (another issue raised in Beta but ignored).

Some of the iconic imperial functions, like astropath and navigator should definitely find its way into dark heresy, in my opinion.

On a side note: Some of the psychic disciplines found in rogue trader supplements could also be meaningful to have in dark heresy, like void frost etc.

I'd like to see them bring back some of the old DH1 stuff but with more balance. Specifically, create the elite advances of Grey Knight, Vindicare Assassin, etc. Those were really cool things but they took way too long to acquire and pretty much caused instantaneous migraines to anyone within a three block radius IRL. I think it would be nice if they were available from character creation and/or roughly 5 sessions worth of XP, but with actual fairness and playability.

With that said, I think it'd be neat to bring around very specific official worlds as options during character creation (kind of like how they have samples of official IG regiments in Only War). Like, you can be from Catachan and that grants you +Toughness, +Willpower, -Intelligence. Toughness Aptitude. Special of "When using a fate point, automatically remove 1 critical damage to a minimum of 3 crits." Fate Threshold of 3 (EB of 8+). Wounds of 9+1d5.

Also, aircraft. Why are there never any aircraft? Can THIS be the game to finally enable Valkaries?

Ratling characters (inquisitors like having a small sniper infiltrator)

Disenfranchised rogue trader (elite pack)

This, or at least a conversion guide so that you can make sure that the OW character that you'd like to bring to the Inquisition can be sure to be balanced with the other characters.

I'm willing to bet that we'll see a RT2 pretty soon, so we may not get RT characters just yet.

Just a hunch.

Homeworld:

Death World

Cemetery World (Frankly I'd like to know about them in general)

Background:

Adepta Sororitas

I would rather see the sororitas as Minstorum characters, depending on their specialization they might be warriors, Sages, Chirurgeons or Hierophants.

I'd prefer a True Believer Elite Package here, that allows to integrate Faith Talents into a character (but both for clerics and sororitas).

I think Feral World and Death world are quite similar - would we really need both ?

Oh yes - Ratlings and Hereteks absolutely !

Ratlings as a homeworld choice ? Or as an Elite Package ?

Couldnt Hereteks not already be made with a regular Mechanicus Background ?

Also, Ogryns. Every acolyte cell needs an ogryn.

Yes let's send in Kronk our ogre acolyte to infiltrate the slaanesh cultists base. :)

then again slaani cultist might be intrested in a big ogryn stud. ahem. Moving on! I supose one could have an ogryn bone 'ead as muscle for the team. Just so we can have this excange:

Dark eldar raider: "we have an army"

Acolyte: "we have an ogryn."

Kronk the ogryn: *bursts trough the wall firing his ripper gun* "Oh yeaaaah! ah ha haa! Cry some more! ah haa haaa!"

Just don't make the ogryn the chirurgeon, ok? we dont want things like this:

Kronk the ogrynn medic: " wot sprained ankle mean? me unsprain it!

acolyte: "waaaaaah!!!"

Ok one more bit of ogryn zaniness:

Kronk the ogryn: "ME SMASH YOU!"

Alpha legionaire: "I'm over there..."

Kronk: *looks away* "huh?"

AL: "joink! bye bye s*ckers! for the emperor! ahahhaha"

Penitent (as in batshit insane fanatic, similiar to how mind-cleansed is origin) and Post-apocalyptic World from Only War, and "evil" Origins from Radicals Handbook, namely Hive Mutant, Darkholder, Blighted Schola and Cursed Blood of Malfi would be rather welcomed.

When we are talking abhumans, how about Afrieli Strain? Could be cool origin.

Spyrer! (from the old necromunda game.)

I want to play a highborn noble brat in a weird mechanised killsuit with exotic weapons.

Either that or have the possibilty to aqquire such a suit (ie: it's fully statted in the armoury section, and they can make it near unique for all i care) I believe a character in Henry Zou's novel "Emperors mercy" wears a (Orrus type) suit.

another vote for a scholar background and we REALLY need an Imperial world, it's a glaring lack right now.

other then that. nothing obvious springs to mind, Although I;'d love to have rules down the road to produce characters from the ordos millitant.

One thing that stands out as missing are Deamonology powers, FFG's more or less transfered over all the psykic powers from table top save the codex unique ones, and the new Sanatic and Maelfic deamonology powers from 7th edition. Sanatic Deamonology (banishment and stuff, a lotta grey knight powers) would be particularly nice for those working for the orodos Maellus.

I don't mind not having 'imperial world' - civilized worlds tend to subset down as hive, shrine, industrial, etc - or at least an acolyte's life experience would.

Homeworlds:

War world & Agri world spring to mind

Backgrounds:

Imperial Navy

Navis Nobilite

Rogue Trader Dynasty

Roles:

The Navigator (navigator mutations)

The Pilot (operate-based bonus)

The Mercator (commerce/social)

Elite Advances

Astropath (bolt-on to psyker)

Rogue Trader (high-level elite advance equivalent to inquisitor)

Cannot the Sage role be also user for a commerce career ?

I think you wouldnt need an additional Rogue Trader Elite advance.

If you had the background trade cartel, you could combine it with the highborn homeworld to create a RT.

Homeworlds:

Ratling World,

Ogryn World

Imperial World - Its been mentioned numerous times but this is badly needed. A number of my players have already struggled to find a world that best represents them without having the "vanilla" option.

Schola Progenium - Already mentioned but my OCD goes a bit nuts playing an Arbitrator who isn't from the Schola.

Backgrounds:

Barbarian/Uncivilised/Primitive - Kind of goes hand in hand with Feral World, but I think we need something separate than just 'Outcast' which more implies criminality. This could represent your Feral World'ers who didn't end up drafted into the Imperial Guard or Telepathica for most of their adult life.

Adepta Soroitas - Its been mentioned but I do think this works best as a Background by virtue of them having numerous specialised Sisters. I think they're a good deal more distinct than the Minstorum to just be shoved under that banner. I expect FFG agree since I don't recall any mention about using the Minstorum to represent them.

Why not an Elite Package, that you can just take at character creation, with some special talents just for them ?

I guess it depends on what you consider an elite package to be. Elite Packages to me entail stuff done through play or something warranting extra experience expenditure, either due to things happening during or before play, based on the character's history.

Of course, my view on this is coloured by the fact that I think that "Race" should've been the first choice, and so Ratlings shouldn't have been a homeworld. Also, abhumans expending extra experience on creation just because they are abhuman feels strange to me. It's a pretty basic choice and an important part of a character - being abhuman shouldn't be intrinsically tied to life experience in any way like that, or so I feel.

There's a good argument to be made that seeing how abhumans only really come from a very low number of actual homeworlds, Homeworld would make the most sense. But at the same time, I do agree with you that it's not ideal.

You've got a point...

The way I saw Elite Packages so far, is more like a flexible way to include anything thats neither homeworld, background nor role.

With the prerequisites you can use them quite flexible. Like you could only allow them for certain homeworlds, only at character creation or only for characters with certain other talents/characteristic values or skills. If they have a cost of 0, they wouldnt force you to pay.

Abhumans could be a 0-xp Elite Advance for new characters only. They would provide a number of advantages but some very real disadvantages as well.

However, I'm not sold on the idea of including abhumans as DH-playable characters. Acolyte cells are all about investigation, and having an ogryn in the party definitely hurts your stealth capabilities. Ratlings could work though -- they are naturally stealthy and great for assassination missions.

I'd like to see a True Believer elite advance to represent super-fanatical priests or Sororitas.

I think Sororitas work perfectly fine as members of the Ministorum background. Roles offer enough customization to define what order your Sororitas belongs to -- Warriors for Battle Sisters, Chirurgeons for Hospitallers, Sages for Famulous, Heirophants or Seekers for Diologus, etc.

The one role I'm really missing is an infiltrator-type character. Kind of like a hybrid Assassin and Heirophant, one with some limited combat and stealth abilities who is also good in social situations. Desperado comes close, but it's not quite what I'm hoping for.
