Brother Stryker 8 Posted August 29, 2014 What factions will you all pick?
SDKFZ 0 Posted August 29, 2014 Although I will test all the factions I think that Eldar and Chaos are going to be my main decks.
Kaic 62 Posted August 29, 2014 Now: Dark Eldar/Chaos and maybe a little bit of Eldar/Tau. Once Tyranid and Necron release I will be playing Necron as my main and Tyranid as my 2nd.

JusMark 10 Posted August 29, 2014 I'm thinking Marines, based solely on my love of their background.
CommissarFeesh 458 Posted August 29, 2014 Astra Militarum. Because the Leman Russ deserves respect! I actually want to make a variety of AM deck styles eventually; one 'swarm' deck where I just throw down tokens repeatedly, and another 'Armoured Column' deck full of tanks (borrow some Land Raiders! Woo!) I have no idea how tactically viable these ideas are, but they make me smile. 2 BuzzsawMF and JusMark reacted to this
Hutton1670 51 Posted August 29, 2014 (edited) Now that I have actually played the game...Space Marines, with a huge emphasis on the Space Wolves and Ragnar Blackmane when he appears in the first expansion is going to be my Deck. I only played one game, and watched two others...but I immediately got the impression that killing the opponents Warlord is the quickest and easiest way to victory. All of the games I watched were won by Warlord destruction. There were no captured planet victories. I almost feel as though "planet" victory is a secondary win objective. Primary should be smiting your opponent's Warlord. So heck yeah, I am going to go with Ragnar Blackmane and the Space Wolves. Darik 36 Posted September 3, 2014 Tau...their interactions and recursion are soooo cool. Interesting to note that you guys saw a lot of Warlord death...we've played about 15 games now and I have only ever won twice that way. It's happened maybe 3 times total (I lost that way once as Dark Eldar.) I think I might start a new thread about the variance in victory conditions... Shkar 51 Posted September 8, 2014 Eldar blood runs in my veins. No matter where they come from (Comorragh, Craftworlds, Exodite Planets, The Web...). Until the day an Inquisitor comes to the Astra Militarum, of course

Titan 92 Posted September 9, 2014 (edited) Until the day an Inquisitor comes to the Astra Militarum, of course That day is not too far off. They've already announced that an Inquisitor warlord is coming on the first cycle. I'm leaning towards playing Astra Militarum and Dark Eldar myself. SynnerG 17 Posted September 9, 2014 Right now, Tau with SM to pick up the slack. But I'll be also holding out for the Necron faction and a Blood Angels Warlord one day (not any time soon, of course). This game started as an easily brushed aside secondary game to my Netrunner primary. I told myself just to maintain one army(deck) and call it there. Then again as I sit here waiting to get a second core set and everyone at my shop to get their first sets, I just want to play test all the Warlords! They all are viable and interesting and with the first cycle being even more options, the game is quickly replacing Netrunner for me. It just satisfies a different feeling, and it's surprised me greatly.
alpha5099 71 Posted September 9, 2014 I'm a neophyte to Warhammer, so I don't really have any long-held loyalties to any of the factions. And even if I did, I doubt it would have much longterm impact on what I played; when I started out with Game of Thrones four years ago, I expected I would play Lannister, but I barely touch that house. Knowing only a surface-level amount about 40K lore, I'm drawn more to the aesthetics or present mechanics of the factions. Presently, I like the look of Tau most, I'm really looking forward to trying out Tau splashed with Space Marines, although I will also try it the other way around, SM allied with Tau. I also really like what I've seen of the Eldar cards. Works out well that the factions I'm most interested in are next to each other on the faction wheel. 1 Eruletho reacted to this
SolennelBern 167 Posted September 10, 2014 (edited) Probably go Marines/IG or Tau...and will try Orks/IG or Chaos/Orks. I'll probably play against my brother who'll go with Elder/Dark Eldar. But my "main" deck will be centered on Space Wolves since they look so freaking awesome! Edited September 10, 2014 by SolennelBern
dbmeboy 807 Posted September 10, 2014 Eventually, Tyranids. In the mean time... not really sure.
chrsjxn 29 Posted September 11, 2014 I'm thinking Dark Eldar + Eldar. But I expect I'm going to change my mind about 100 times once more people have the game and start posting decks and strategies for how to play the various factions.

Dark Eldar/Eldar and Eldar/Tau sound nifty. I love finesse factions and all the raiding and exhausting of the space elves is very intriguing to me. Gundog8324 440 Posted September 16, 2014 Either pure Dark Eldar or if using allies Eldar/Chaos to compliment them
Zoatibix 1 Posted September 24, 2014 Dark Eldar as they are my main army in the TT. Preferably pure but will add some Craftworlders in if need be. If i get an itch for.other decks i might try Tau with IG or Choas and Orks. Tyranids are another of my armies and so iook forward to seeing them. Lastly i hope that we one day see Sisters of battle.
