Who Receives Damage?

Can we please stop asking FFG for rule clarifications that shouldn't need to be asked if one reads the core rulebook and applies them to the card???

 

As noted by everyone else in this post, you spend the Target Lock to roll 4 attack dice against the defender at Range 2-3. After the 4 attack dice are modified, the defender rolls agility dice and modifies them as necessary. If there are still uncancelled "hits" and/or "crits" the defender is considered "hit" and suffers damage. So far so good???

 

For Ion Torpedoes, if the defender is "hit" then the defender and all ships at Range 1 of the defender receives 1 ion token. 

 

Summary: Defender suffers all uncancelled damage AND 1 ion token; every ship at Range 1 of defender receives 1 ion token but NO damage.

Right, and get hung up on stupid technicalities. The word "also" isn't needed on any of these cards. When you perform an attack you perform all 7 steps of an attack, including suffering damage. If it doesn't say to skip this step you can't just skip it because there is an effect on this card that is also triggering. They shouldn't have to say "do X in addition to all the normal steps". That is pointless. Of course you do all the normal steps. That's how the rules work. "Do all of these steps unless a card says otherwise". That's why ion pulse missiles say "then cancel all dice results" because that is changing the normal flow of the rules. Without that wording you follow all normal steps.

I haven't used Ion Torpedoes yet, but with Assault Missiles, I've been dealing damage to the defender and then also dealing 1 damage to all other ships at Range 1, including friendly ships.

Which is exactly how it should work.

The only difference between that and Ion Torps, is you give them ion tokens instead of damage, and it effects the defender as well.

Not everyone sees things the way you do. I accept that the same is true for myself, which is why I ask questions in the first place. If you cannot do the same, then you should never reply to anyone's post...ever.

Honestly, the language used was easy to understand, what anyone was confused on was how it was misunderstaood. That said sure many things can be interpreted differently, this is why it was gone over line by line and described for you.. rather nice of Vanor to do actually.

Whether the answer was in a manners you didn't like, the answer was correct and hpw it IS played, no room for interpretation. It is what it is, your attitude could have been more of a thankful one, for having someone explain it for you.

I was just irritated at your responses. When someone does you a favor, it's impolite to kick em in the face, which is how you came off..

We've all seen a few threads disintergrate because the OP didn't like the answers he was getting and decided to go to FFG. It is very much like saying "you guys don't know what you're talking about".

When the consensus comes back with one answer, from posters around the world, you can generally be pretty sure they might all be on the right track. You can say "I'll admit it if I'm wrong", but to keep driving the point home that you don't believe anyone else's opinion and you're still going to 'confirm' it with FFG, is getting to be insulting.
