DagobahDave 1,621 Posted August 7, 2014 I wrote the original version of this mission back when all we had were Wave I ships to play with. A lot of great stuff has happened to this game since then, and this updated version of the Death Star Trench Run aims to deliver a like-the-movie experience of that iconic battle (within reason). Bust out your Xs and Ys, and dust off your TIE Advanced because Vader's got work to do. And don't forget Han for that last-minute assist! Mikael Hasselstein 6,896 Posted August 8, 2014 Dave, When are we going to play this? Do we want to make some sort of physical representation of those turbolasers, or will our imaginations and paper tokens suffice?
bulldoguk 2,102 Posted August 8, 2014 Outstanding Dave! Our little posse will definitely be giving this another spin in the coming weeks, I will stick a report up when we do
Slain309 8 Posted August 8, 2014 The first one you did is still set up on my board, and to date is the most played mission in my group. Cant wait to rock out the new one! Thanks for your work, keep it up!
blade_mercurial 2,091 Posted August 8, 2014 Without playing it, my only suggestion is that crits on turbolasers count as 2 hits rather than 1. Seems cooler that way. Looks like a lot of work went into this. Koodos for that! Has it been playtested much?

Koodos for that! Has it been playtested much? The crits work out alright this way. I have played through it a few times, the older one anyway, and crits changing to hits feels kind of natural, or at least that was what we found anyway. DagobahDave 1,621 Posted August 8, 2014 Without playing it, my only suggestion is that crits on turbolasers count as 2 hits rather than 1. Seems cooler that way. Looks like a lot of work went into this. Koodos for that! Has it been playtested much? I'm treating the turbolasers here much like the ones found in the Tantive IV expansion. This one hasn't been playtested yet, but it should work very much the same as the old scenario which has been played a lot of times by a lot of people. The big difference is that the revised mission is set up for 3x6 feet instead of 4x5 or whatever the old one was. In the old scenario, the Rebels had a longer way to get to the trench so they got a full round of movement before the Imperials showed up. With a shorter approach, they don't need the one-round head-start and everybody can get into the action right away. So that should even out. Rules for colliding with the trench wall have been simplified and should work a lot better. Han Solo didn't show up in the old scenario, but almost everybody commented that he should, so he has a chance to save the day now. This one also has the Rebels approaching the trench from the left, instead of the right, just like in the movie. Most of the changes are minor, but I should have a chance to play this myself soon and make adjustments if anything comes up.
DagobahDave 1,621 Posted August 8, 2014 Dave, When are we going to play this? Do we want to make some sort of physical representation of those turbolasers, or will our imaginations and paper tokens suffice? Maybe this weekend. I don't really need 3D terrain for the guns or anything, but you're welcome to put some together if you can find them.
