Talissera 1 Posted August 6, 2014 Hello. Shipboard Storm Troopers are specially trained in boardingactivities and ship security. To obtain Storm Troopers, a captainmust have a Contact or Good Reputation with the ImperialGuard, in addition to the usual Acquisition requirements. There is a Good Reputation talent with prerequisits. But what's mean "Contact"? Does it in-game mechanic element, or just a roleplay moment?
Errant Knight 555 Posted August 6, 2014 Yeah, I'd ignore that as a blunder probably entered by someone who'd written too many DH rules and not enough RT rules. Off-hand I can't remember who gets Contacts (it's a Talent), but I'm pretty sure it's an Alternate Career Rank(s) and none of the core careers. The only Alternate Career Rank I can remember that can choose the Good Reputation (Imperial Guard) Talent is a Legend of the Expanse. I'd houserule it, and while I can't think what I'd do (without looking more deeply into the rules, which I'm not going to do right now) about the Contacts prerequisite, I'd probably go with Peer (Imperial Guard or Military) instead of Good Rep. But, I'd keep in the spirit of the rules and require one of those. For sure, I'd require something special. Then again, I don't give anything away for "free." If the players save the bacon of the IG on some mission, I don't up and give them Peer (Imperial Guard). I let them have the "privilege" of purchasing that talent as an elite advance if they don't already have it, or upgrading it to Good Rep (IG). They still have to pay for it. Lady Kataline Jianwei 50 Posted August 7, 2014 I always read it as a roleplaying requirement. That is how we've handled it. And due to this we once spent an acquisition getting 500 sets of storm trooper gear that came with 500 blow up dolls. 2 Decessor and filliman reacted to this

Lady Kataline Jianwei 50 Posted September 14, 2014 Oh it's been so long since I've been back here. Where does the time go? But yes there is a story there though it is not as impressive as you would think. We had the good fortune of having a detachment of Storm Troopers on our flag ship. Well we wanted more of them. And our Arch-Militant happened to know a guy that could get you things. Things like rerouting a detachment of highly trained troops. So we had to go do a few favors to earn some trust just to set up the deal. Nothing too major, just moving some cargo around in ways only a person with a free ship can (read smuggling contraband). It was all fun and games. Parties were had, drinks drunk and of course the obligatory waking up naked in someone's bed. Well having done the favors it was time to do the actual deal we wanted. We negotiated, signed the contract and were told to expect our shipment in a few months. So we went off and did our thing. And lo and behold our shipment did arrive. In crates. Wooden crates. Which really should have been the first sign something was wrong. But we thought that maybe they had just sent the equipment in crates and that the men to fill said equipment would come on a transport. So we pried open the crates and dumped them out. There was our order. 500 sets of Storm Trooper equipment. Strewn out on the cargo bay floor. And a note from our man saying that things had come up and he couldn't get us the men after all. So he did the best he could; he sent the equipment and included 500 blow up sex dolls to "fill" in the equipment. And that is how we ended up with spare gear for our original 500 men. Oh and 500 blow up dolls. (See what happens when you fail those acquisition rolls? FUN!) 2 Angel of Death and Decessor reacted to this
