Size the minis... 28, 32mm? Same stuff like GOW miniatures?

Although the text of the announcement does not tell the size of the minis, they apparently are in the range of 28mm. 

 

I think it's worth having so nice miniatures and not use them with the mechanics of tactical combat. 

 

Really wanted a game that would supply the lack of GOW.

 

Abstract Combat mechanics, maybe? 

 

Only roll dice to achieve success like Elder Sign is kinda disappointing for a game with the importance of X-COM.

 

Future expansion or other X-COM release with tactical combat?

The lack of an actual tactical map in the photo indicates that it probably will have a more abstract approach to combat. And I like the idea of an expansion that introduces that feature.

Been playing a lot of XCOM on the XBOX lately. At first the turn-based combat was clunky & annoying; I dig it now. Maybe they can do a "light" version of a tactical mission via the app. But an expansion that added a 2nd game board on the other end of the table for actual boots-on-ground missions, would be sexy as hell. Especially if the app was integrated into that as well. Oh yeah.

seems unlikely as there would be two games the one being played by every one and the one being played but the guy running the army and even with a light tactics mission woukd take a while and the game atm seems to be fairly fast.
