MacrossVF1 4,341 Posted August 1, 2014 As some of you may know, I am currently building a type of ship called YG-4210. However it has taken me a good amount of time before I could show you guys anything worthwhile. Quite frankly this model is effing hard to build. In any case, enjoy! 11 Papamambo, oddeye, Dagonet and 8 others reacted to this
oddeye 560 Posted August 1, 2014 looks like a great start! wish we had a subforum where we could post our scratch builds.. cough.. FFG.. cough.. 2 Joe Boss Red Seven and Viceroy Bolda reacted to this
MacrossVF1 4,341 Posted August 1, 2014 I don't want a subforum. Why? Because it would see a lot less traffic than the main one and therefore it would be better to post there instead of the subforum. 1 any2cards reacted to this
oneway 1,878 Posted August 1, 2014 Looks like a good start... is it just me or does the front look a little short.. or maybe a conscious thought to make it look less... 'stretched' ? Might look better that way as the picture has always looked odd to me...

Really? I was thinking you might get more views and more comments if it was in a subsection. ok back on topic: what are you planning on using for the turret and radar? 1 Dieter122 reacted to this

There are a number of versions of it and and some are indeed less 'stretched'. 1 oneway reacted to this

MacrossVF1 4,341 Posted August 2, 2014 ok back on topic: what are you planning on using for the turret and radar? That's actually too early to say, but I'm sure I'll scrounge up something from my bits box. Lotz of shiny gubbinz dere. Oh look, I just channeled my inner Gork (or posibbly Mork). 1 tiefanatic reacted to this

Mikael Hasselstein 6,896 Posted August 2, 2014 Could you give us some insight on what you're using for your components? Where are you getting these bits?
MacrossVF1 4,341 Posted August 2, 2014 Almost everything used so far is plain old plastikard/styrene plastic in a multitude of shapes and sizes. The only exception is the front 'cone' of the left and right engine, those are leftover buckets from WW2 German tank plastic kits. 1 Mikael Hasselstein reacted to this
MacrossVF1 4,341 Posted August 3, 2014 Another update. First photo is the top and the other is the underside. Getting real close to gluing all the major pieces together. After that it's really only minor detailing left. 3 oneway, CatPeeler and Jordan Peacock reacted to this
MacrossVF1 4,341 Posted August 4, 2014 More pics. Just like yesterday, the first is the top and the other is the underside. All major pieces assembled and glued into place, with the exception of the middle engine and it's connecting column. 6 oneway, riplikash, Mikael Hasselstein and 3 others reacted to this

MacrossVF1 4,341 Posted August 5, 2014 Sorry, no update today, but please do keep feeding my ego. Soon it will reach critical mass and I'll be unable to show any humility!

aknorthroader 16 Posted August 5, 2014 This is really looking to take flight.... awesome job so far... can you put another ship in the camera shot to get a perspective of size? Thanks.
MacrossVF1 4,341 Posted August 6, 2014 Another update, but as I am firmly in small detail territory, it's getting harder and harder to see some of the work I'm doing. To spice things up at least a little I separated the front from the back. I'm quite pleased with that piece of engineering, throughout the entire build the central column has been a separate piece and yet it slots so precisely in place that you can't tell it's not glued in place. Sorry aknorthroader, forgot to take the requested picture. I'll try to fix that with the next update. I can tell however that the ship is about 8.9 centimeters long. 1 CatPeeler reacted to this
MacrossVF1 4,341 Posted August 7, 2014 There's not a lot left to do now and I should be finished with it before the weekend is over. I suppose the biggest and most easily seen addition today is the satellite dish. The dish is an old Macross FAST pack exhaust nozzle that I've cut in half and fitted with a short piece of pianowire. The baseplate the dish stands on is taken from a Tamiya WW2 German tank kit. Also new for today is a size comparison shot. See, I sometimes remember what my adoring fans request. 7 CatPeeler, Joe Boss Red Seven, Dagonet and 4 others reacted to this
