What would you like to see...mechanically

Recommended Posts

Keep it simple!

But keep expanding!

Really explore the studio...er design space...

New actions.

Multi-version pilots

Pilots on multi ships

Droid pilots

More and actually useful bombs/mines

More and varied obstacles

"Scout" or "trap" abilities that effect placement

Battlefield manipulation

Force sensitive/Force use

Better missiles/torps

Elite dice (but I think it's too late for this now)

Wide and long bases (also think its sadly too late)

A drift/ sideslip/ jink option is an easy layer to add; could be done via a card like most things that were added (ion, boost, etc).

On that same line of thinking, barrel roll should have been allowed for all ships. Add barrel roll for all via a card; give all ships that currently lack BR the move, just uses the large ship BR rule maybe so it isn't as great, but still an option.

Torpedo/ missile load out: in order to 'fun up' warheads they should have never done the system as is. Fixing it isn't simple but with game matches being what they are..ships don't last long. A simple fix may be: For missile and torpedo options you could turn the card 90 degrees right for each shot and when the card returns to the upright position it is empty and turned over/ discarded.

Fire linked: turn the card right 180 degrees: missiles add 2 attack dice and torpedoes 1 attack die to represent the slower torpedoes not running as fast and the missiles being more effective dogfighting. This idea needs work..cluster missiles and proton rockets might need to be special cases.

Shields: surprised no one has mentioned this!

Set deflectors for double front: double your shields. The potential imbalance this could create may require simplifying shield arcs; rather than a 180 degrees off imaginary midway points that would give rules lawyers fits, simplify it to if center post to center post crosses the front of the base it's in the shield, if not you don't get the benefit of shields at all.

Stabilize your rear deflector shields: reverts to standard shield distribution. Divide shields by 2 and round down to the nearest whole number.

Both shield actions above are an action to change shield setting. A double sided card with double front /double rear and a double sided normal shields/ rules explanation could be used to implement. In order to not imbalance the game it may be necessary to assign stress for using this or an additional stress for red maneuvers (2 per manuver)... Thoughts?!

1.) New maneuvers (a 2nd core set, which comes with the new measuerments), or new actions

2.) Even smaller ships, with puny attack, defense, agility, and point cost but could offer support to bigger ships or even a possilb threat in a swarm. Maybe like 2-3 of these could come in each expansion.

3.) Factions!!

....Okay so I'm not a starwars buff, and I may catch some fire admitting this here, but I've only seen the movies (*GASP*)

But I know there could be other neutral factions that could be tossed into builds for either empire or rebel! Though I could forsee the logical falicy if the rebel team and the empire team were flying the same pilot in a game...

But maybe no named pilots? Just generics?

Would be interesting!

Just my 2 cents

A lot of torpedoes and missiles could benefit from being looked at. Currently many of them cost quite a bit of points for the single-shot firepower they bring to the table.

I think boarding would be a great addition to the game.

There could be different miniatures for this addition. And FF could make a board that would resemble the inside of a frigate, freighter or transport. There could be obstacles or barricades within the starship. And for example, an astromech that could help an assault/ defense team.

I really could see this happening.

Seems be contrary to Empire paradigm but I would like to see a

Crew Card with Damage Control (i.e. at end of combat phase spend 1 focus to repair 1 hull, up to normal maximum). Cost 3, same as R5-P9. Would not work on most fighters...but would on the heavier craft.

Though probably would make tanky ship builds like Chewie even more tanky, perhaps too much so. Maybe Empire only to balance against the Rebel only shield repair droids. And unique so no doubling up.
