willhunter52 0 Posted July 31, 2014 In the rule book they only define a few traits like deadly, stealth, etc... What do the other bold words mean like lord, lady, renown, bastard, ally, army
ktom 598 Posted July 31, 2014 Stealth, Deadly, and the like (the things defined on pp. 20-21 of the rulebook) are called "keywords," not traits. Keywords are part of a card's game text. The keyword acts as a reference with the rulebook telling you how to handle that card ability. Traits, like Lord, Lady, etc. (all the things that are indicated in bold, italic text at the very top of the game text, under the picture) have no inherent ability or effect. They are just ways of identifying cards that other game text can interact with. So, for example, if you play Ser Axel Florent, the fact that he says "Knight" doesn't mean anything in and of itself, and doesn't let him do anything special. But if you then reveal the plot card Tourney for the Hand which says "Each of your Knight characters gets +1 STR and is immune to opponent's character abilities," you know that Ser Axel Florent gets those benefits because of the Knight trait, while a character like Edric Storm ("Bastard") would not.
