star destroyer

Did MPC make a fiber optic kit ? I only remember AMT making one with that. Other wise the models are identical. The only thing though I would recommend getting a older MPC kit. The later MPC and all the AMT kits were horrible. The mold had been used so much and was worn out to the point that the parts don't fit flush together like the old MPC kit did.

Look for one with the box that has Empire Strikes Back on it with a blue background.

I had put one together when I was a kid back around 89 or 90, had it for years and broke the stand for it back in 07 and bought the AMT fiber optic kit. It was so bad the bridge tower wouldn't even fit, the other parts had some issues like that but I was able to sand them down or fill in the gaps with putty but there was no fixing the tower. I put it up, some day I am going to attempt to modify it into a Victory class Star Destroyer. I ended up using the stand for my old Star Destroyer, the stand at least still worked fine.

Wow I wish had the money and the skill to build a kit like that Avenger. That is impressive to say the least.

The MPC Star Destroyer does look pretty good. For what it is and all. It's not like that Avenger though. I haven't been able to find them in years, but there was a guy making upgrade kits for the MPC/AMT kit. Had a fancy high detail hanger bay, shield generators, turbo laser turrets and engines. I wanted to get them but I kept putting it off and putting it off then when I finally did go to buy the upgrade kit the website didn't work anymore.

out of curiosity how much are you paying for the MPC kit w/ fiber optics? one of my local hobby shops has em for fairly cheap..

Everyone wants gold for theirs... If it is below the price of a Transport; then I would have to say jump on it...The Fiber Optics are really lame though

Right now the less expensive ones are on eBay for ~$40. I'm watching a couple that close tomorrow, but I doubt that I'm going to get one. The pictures (e.g. this one) just don't have enough detail along the trench for me to accept that it's a true-enough representation.

That said!! I could bone it out for parts to do some other modeling/kit-bashing with.

Hmmm....
