There were more than 1-2 people who were not certain of the ruling.

I know, I'm just saying that it only takes 1 or 2 people to keep a thread going.
Maybe online you only see a couple of posters, but this will change how 30+ guys play in my area alone It will be a big shakeup for this Saturday's Escalation tournament. I'm letting them know via messaging and it isn't going over well! Edited by Plainsman

And we got ourselves an answer:

*barrel drum roll*

In response to your rules question:

Rule Question:Hi

Is it allowed for a player too look at his facedown maneuver dials at any time, during any phase?

For example, may I look at one of my shipd maneuver dials when deciding if I should do a barrel roll with my active ship to get out of the way.

Or look at my ships dials during the activation phase to choose the order of movement?

Rule Answer:

You may look at your own maneuver dials at any time during the Planning or Activation phases. After the Planning phase, a player must inform his opponent if he is going to look at but not reveal his dial as manipulating dials will not be tolerated.

Thank you for the clarification, Frank!

That will make things a LOT different in my area and really shake it up! Flying will actually be EASIER!

It's kind of sad that we have to waste their time to ask a question that doesn't need asking.

If it didn't need to be asked, this topic wouldn't be five pages long.

Still due to a few stubborn people it is a waste of time.

Sure it only takes them a minute to reply but can you imagine how many emails they would get if everyone was to ask them something as obvious as this due to a couple of people who can't seem to interrupt a very simple rule.

And I just want to add. Who every it was that said a few pages back that if you read this, I hope you bring it to your TO attention as he too doesn't understand a simple ruling.

<shrug>  If your area really feels that strongly about it, then house rule it.  I'm not sure why you would - despite assertions to the contrary, it's really not that big an impact, and it certainly doesn't make any particular build better or worse.

Try playing a few games without allowing looking at the dials in the Activation Phase. Then let us know if you think it wouldn't be a big impact being able to look at them!
