I ran Vader with a Stealth Device in a 300 point game and he was nigh unhittable and I used him as a lone-wolf decoy all game.  Opponents seem to really relish the idea of taking out Vader so they focus on him while ignoring other parts of the fleet.  

 

When he takes a focus and an evade with a 4 agility, it will take a LOT of concentrated fire to take him down.  Throw in expose or predator, and he can actually do some damage.

 

BTW: I love stealth devices on ships with 3 or more Agility.  They become really tough to bring down.

The Tie Advanced is probably 1-2 points over valued.    if you look at a Rookie Pilot vs a Tie Advanced -  the trade off is 1 agility for 1 damage.  The odds favor damage

 

A rookie versus a Tempest Squadron Pilot is a nice comparison. Yes, the odds favour damage dice over attack dice, but in a one on one duel, the TIE Advanced's actions are better;

 

even at range 2, a TIE Advanced with an evade token can trade shots with an X-wing with a target lock on it and comes out slightly on top.

 

at range 1, it swings back the other way, but at range 1 the barrel roll action is a huge advantage and stands a good chance of getting you out of (or into) arcs of fire. 

 

 

The problem, of course, is that any advantage based on tokens only lasts for the first guy shooting at you; no-one breaks the game up into three or four one-on-one dogfights; instead they focus fire on one guy and kill them dead - and when four ships do defensive actions and four enemies do aggressive actions, the aggressors win because only the guy they focus fire on gets to benefit from his action.

 

In short, it's a great "one ship to be left with in the endgame", especially if it's Vader. The problem is getting there.
