Seasons and Crowns

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

so I'm relatively new to the game, but I've been lurking on the net reading up about it, and think I'm relatively well informed for a casual player.

Now I realise that it will be an incredibly rare situation where seasons are a factor and you're not running Ravens cards, but just out of curiosity, how would opposing crowns work against each other without ravens in play?  I'm referring of course to the Crown of Winter, Crown of Meereen and Crown of Azor Ahai.  Because their card effects occur without Raven cards being in play.

But what if Someone plays Crown of Winter (if the Black Raven is not in play, it is Winter) and an opponent plays Crown of Meereen (if the White Raven is not in play, it is Summer).  Would they cancel each other out?  Because it cant simultaneously be both Summer and Winter, can it?

The thing to remember is that Summer and Winter aren't mechanics. They don't do ANYTHING on their own. They just allow cards to interact with the game and each other in ways written on the cards.

In that sense, Summer and Winter are more like traits, just on the game instead of a card. So while rare, being Summer and Winter at the same time is ultimately no different than a card being a Lord and a Knight at the same time.
