MacrossVF1 4,341 Posted May 31, 2014 (edited) So to celebrate the event I decided to do some repaints. This meant trying to match the list I'm going to use. So a rookie X-wing, a blue squad B-wing, a gold squad Y-wing and Wedge Antilles in his Red 2. To be honest the rookie ended up as Luke Skywalker's Red five, but hey he was a rookie once. The Y-wing I posted about a couple of weeks ago but I wasn't quite happy with it. After some bit of extra work it now matches my expectations better. TRamsey 256 Posted May 31, 2014 Nice repaints you have there!
Babaganoosh 3,079 Posted May 31, 2014 Pretty dope! Awesome detail work- I especially appreciate the individual squadron markings and weathering details; very crisp and professional. Puts mine to shame!
HunterEste 173 Posted May 31, 2014 What was the final word on using modified minis at tournaments? I remember alot of arguments about it.... Was the final consensus that: Painting = OK, other physical cosmetic mods = NOT OK?
Forensicus 883 Posted May 31, 2014 As long as it's not offensive and/or changes the size of the base and the TO is ok with it, all should be good: Component Modifications Players are welcome and encouraged to personalize their squads according to the following rules. The TO is the final authority on any component’s eligibility in the tournament. If a component is ruled ineligible and the player does not have a replacement for it, that player is disqualified from the tournament. Ship models may be painted as desired as long as the alterations are not offensive and do not adversely affect another player’s experience. Ship bases cannot be modified to alter their size or shape. Weight may be added to a ship base if it does not alter the shape of the base.
MacrossVF1 4,341 Posted May 31, 2014 Thanks Forensicus. I was about to crap in my pants for a while there.
TobyW 77 Posted May 31, 2014 Those are very nice, I especially like the weathering and the look of the Y-Wing with the darker and lighter grays.
Rob Jedi 887 Posted May 31, 2014 The chipped paint work is incredibly well done considering how tiny the markings are. Very nice.
Not The Droids 2 Posted June 1, 2014 If anyone tried to disqualify you for the awesome work that you did on those minis would be in clear violation of will wheaton's first law of gaming "don't be a d!@k". Well painted minis make the game experience better for both players! 1 EmpireErik reacted to this
Osoroshii 2,146 Posted June 1, 2014 Some of the best repaints I've seen, well done sir!
EmpireErik 176 Posted June 1, 2014 if someone ******* about painting a mini, they should be through out of the tournament...just saying
Joker Two 635 Posted June 1, 2014 Yeah, you won't need to worry about the TOs as long as you keep it reasonable. They play the game too!
MacrossVF1 4,341 Posted June 2, 2014 A bit of a bump but better than spamming new topics I suppose. My dear painted ships got me a second place at Imdaar so maybe the repaints helped? In any case the first paint tutorial (Luke's Red five) is up on my blog so please do take a look.
Khyros 4,218 Posted June 2, 2014 A bit of a bump but better than spamming new topics I suppose. My dear painted ships got me a second place at Imdaar so maybe the repaints helped? In any case the first paint tutorial (Luke's Red five) is up on my blog so please do take a look. I swear that my repainted Green A wing has a personality... as long as I consistantly run it, all it rolls are hits/crits/evades... if I go a single game without it (or I fly it as something besides a PS3 Green), it just keels over and dies. I'm a little frightened to take it again since I didn't play with it all weekend.
MacrossVF1 4,341 Posted June 2, 2014 I would not bet on your ship having a personality, but rather the all seeing Murphy rewarding you with some good karma for a change. Of course, Murphy being the insufferable git that he is, punishes you the moment you do not use your A-wing.
R2-EQ 302 Posted June 3, 2014 Macross that is simply masterful work! My hat off to you. Those 4 x-Wings minis are the best ones I've seen yet. Thanks for sharing how you did it.
