Looking for help

Recommended Posts

I've got the crative side of it already, the trouble im having is in the die converstion from Doom to Descent. Because the miss symbol on the die for Descent or differnt in color then the Doom die. And of course the weapons are a little bit differnt in nature.

So in order to represent say the damage from a BFG, what die would best represent this. Like I mentioned, the die colors are differnt and if I rolled color for color, some attacks would never miss.:blink::lol:

Descent 1E was built using the same game engine as Doom, with some revisions, naturally. So there is at least a little bit in common, design-wise.

As for combining the two, if you're thinking of enhancing the old Doom game with newer D2E rules, my suggestion would be to leave as much of the Doom engine intact as you can, and just port over the extra rules you want.

ie: Leave combat and dice in Doom as written. Maybe make a few Marine Sheets, giving them unique stats (and fatigue) that work in combination with the unaltered combat rules for Doom. Allow the bullet icon to provide a "surge effect" for each weapon, in addition to consuming ammo. Etc.

If you're looking to re-skin D2E as Doom and have it work in every way like Descent, then you're going to have a lot more work cut out for you. And really, the only way to accomplish that will be to re-write everything from Doom using the new rules. If you do it right, you can start using the D2E dice, but that'd be about the only thing that wouldn't require revision. Even the missions would probably need to be redone with the new mechanics in mind.

Actually all Im looking for is using the monstors and weapons from Doom and inplimenting them into D2E.

I'm begining to see this but I think it will be worth it for my campaign. Thanks for the heads up.
