trustybroom 570 Posted May 30, 2014 I was thinking a lot about the Tantive lately. It costs a lot of points and if you are using it offensively, it's defense isn't that great. Any defensive actions you take with it really limits it's offense. That got me thinking, what if you used the Transport as a Pseudo-Biggs? Take a transport with the Bright Hope title and an EM Emitter and fly them parallel to each other keeping the transport between the enemy and the Tantive. As the bases are the same size, it should be pretty easy to cover the Tantive, giving the Tantive 3 evade dice at all times. The Tantive can then put all it's energy into its guns. The enemy then only has a few options: It can try to flank where it would have to split their forces (the shuttle can easily move faster or slower to cover the front or rear of the Tantive). It can attack the Tantive which now has 3 defense dice. It can attack the easier to destroy transport. Would this work? Did I read the rules wrong? AdmiralThrawn 1,090 Posted May 30, 2014 It would be useful to defend the tantive but keep in mind at the same time you blocking half of the tantive's firing arcs. So all enemy ships on the other side of the transport now have an extra green dice.
Krynn007 2,445 Posted May 30, 2014 I considered this but as much as it provides some defense, it will also do the same with my opponents. There is Upgrade I believe for the transport that you can use to make your opponent have to Target the transport. Kind of like biggs, but costs energy u believe. My next epic game in going to use both huge ships, but the transport is going to be there mainly to jam give stress, and try to break my opponent formation. Basically I'm going to user it as a wall between our forces. I find people usually ignores the transport, so I'll make them want to Target it. I think it be agreat blocker that is for sure
trustybroom 570 Posted May 30, 2014 Yikes! I didn't think of it blocking my own attacks too. That's good to know.
