Epic Rogue Squadron

Recommended Posts

Hi, I was toying with a 300 point epic build using all named X-Wing pilots.  Looking for suggestions for optimal customization to take advantage of their unique characteristics.  Here's my first draft:

Tarn Mison with R7 (25)

Biggs Darklighter with R2-F2 and Stealth Device (31)

"Hobbie" Klivian with R2-D6, Wingman and Shield Upgrade (32)

Garven Dreis with R5-P9 and Shield Upgrade (33)

Jek Porkins with R5-D8, Opportunist and Shield Upgrade (37)

Luke Skywalker with R2-D2, Draw Their Fire, and Shield Upgrade (37)

Wedge Antilles with R2, Expert Handling, and Shield Upgrade (36)

Wes Janson with Veteran Instincts and Shield Upgrade (34)

Total: 265

This list allows some torps or a couple support ships (thinking Y-Wings and/or HWKs).  Wedge could have Predator (+1) or Opportunist (+2) instead of Expert Handling, and Engine Upgrade instead of Shield (+0).  What's a good astromech for Wes?

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

hmm i was doing the same thing and ended up just reverting everything to basic pilots! would be a blast to play with all named pilots, though it would take a lot of extra effort thinking with everyone's different upgrades and abilities. For casual play that is fine, but for a tournament that would be more difficult as the day goes on.

I know this isn't really helping you in any way though I was thinking something along the lines of

5 red squadrons w/ 1 torp each

5 gold squadrons loaded with 2x torps each

which ironically comes out to exactly 265 points as well. Do you actually have 8 x wings? I have 5 x's and 5 y's (hence my list). I think epic lists might do better with less named pilots and more cheap missile boats. Anyways, regarding your list  for the classic rogue squadron I'd say it looks to be almost exactly what I had. Place the upgrades that correspond with the pilots the best to maximize their effectiveness. I think I actually had r2-d2 on biggs and r5-p9 w/ DTF on luke. (luke basically already has a built in focus so you can use your action to heal pulling crits off biggs). to each his own though really. I know tons of people like r2d2 on luke, that works too!

Agreed.  This is just for casual play.  Sometimes I like going with themes.

Not yet!

Hull upgrade for jek. Biggs with stealth and r2f2 is a gamble and it usually never pays off. He needs to be able to focus to take advantage of the dice.

Actually for Epic running Biggs with R2F2 isn't a bad idea. You got to think he is not going to survive the first round of shooting, especially with the increase of enemies shooting at him. Your focus token is going to help you once. R2-F2 could help multiple times. You really just want him to survive 3-4 attacks.
