t7thunders 167 Posted May 9, 2014 With the Imdar event. Coming up at the end of this month, Ive decided to go with what I am most comfortable. Chewbacca,. Usually I just run him with draw their fire, and a hull upgrade. However I was wondering if anyone would be willing to share their best "Tank" ? Now here's the weird part, was also thinking about running A-wings in the list. Kind of like little hummingbirds buzzing around a big flower thingy. I figured I could use draw their fire to help keep the little buggers alive and maybe even deliver a nice missile or two down someones throat. Any ideas...? Rambler 140 Posted May 9, 2014 Bluebacca Build. Chewie + 2 Blue Sqds. Lot of hit points and a little room to trick out your ships.
Skargoth 1,703 Posted May 9, 2014 Oh you! I got some good tips in my thread a few down. A's are kind weak, especially because you can't fit 3 with missiles with Chewie. For tankiness, your only options are crew cards if you keep DTF. I think maybe Expert Handling or Engine upgrade might do you good. Chewie - Engine upgrade - Gunner - DTF - 52 Green - Deadeye - Conc missile - 24 Green - Deadeye - Conc missile - 24 Actually, it looks pretty fun! Geoffy 124 Posted May 9, 2014 Try two A's with deadeye and an assault missile. Gives you enough points for a gunner and hull upgrade.
godofcheese 456 Posted May 9, 2014 (edited) I won store championship with Chewie - PtL, Falcon 2x Dagger - adv sensors. Edited May 9, 2014 by godofcheese
bladeofdorin 7 Posted May 10, 2014 (edited) I've done pretty much the build you've described several times with massive success. I run it like so... Chewie + ptl + falcon +nien nunb 2X GSP + ptl + 1 concussion & 1 either assault or homing Rarely i'll trade out ptl on the falcon for weapons engineer and i could see a clear case for expert handling on the falcon and an upgrade to assault or homing on your other A-wing. I've actually used THAT particular load out to evade almost an entire 100 point fleet and kill the whole thing over a few turns. EDIT: worth noting that this was with both my A-wings out of the game turn 3 Edited May 10, 2014 by bladeofdorin
Gullwind 558 Posted May 10, 2014 I'm taking Chewie (MF Title, Nien Nunb, Gunner, PtL) with two Blue Squadron Pilots (FCS) in our tournament tomorrow. I call it "Wookiee Blues". I've had a fair amount of success with it so far.
t7thunders 167 Posted May 10, 2014 Good replies so far, thanks. I figured I was gonna catch crap about using a wings. Glad my thinking wasn't too far off. I have B wings as well, but for some reason, I just can't seem to get along with that ship. What's Deadeye ? I'm not at my cards right now.
Disgruntled 245 Posted May 10, 2014 Deadeye is best with homing missiles imo
Rekkon 541 Posted May 10, 2014 Nothing stays alive like Epic Chewie. You cannot damage what you cannot shoot.* Chewbacca + Expert Handling + Luke Skywalker + Nien Numb + Millenium Falcon *Some exceptions apply. If you want to fill out the list with A-wings, you could downgrade Luke to a Gunner and drop Nien/MF to squeeze in three Prototype Pilots. Barring that, you have plenty of points for two A-wings with munitions. EH Chewie does take a fair bit of skill to use effectively however, so I would not recommend taking the jump without several practice games. He does not want to joust, especially when paired with A-wings as they make the Wookiee a very obvious first target. I run him extensively with two ion turret Gold Squadron Pilots. If you focus on the Y-wings, Chewie survives to the endgame where he is even more powerful. If you target the Falcon first, he can dance away and his wingmen cause havoc with ionization. phild0 1,735 Posted May 10, 2014 (edited) I like this list... Chewy + EH A wing A wing X wing I think that's 99pts or so. Can add Millennium Falcon title as well. My opinion is, Expert Handling Chewy is just about all you need to make Chewy beefy. This isn't a Chewy list, but I also like Lando + Gunner + other upgrades possibly Green Squadron Pilot + PTL + Some Missile Prototype + Some Missile Usually at least 1 Assault missile. Or Han + Gunner + EH GSP + PTL GSP + PTL On all these lists, I forget the actual points and upgrades, what I have posted are mostly the essentials. Wookie Hunter 98 Posted May 11, 2014 (edited) I have been using Chebacca with Expert Handling, MF Title, and Luke Skywalker with 2 x Blue Squadron with FCS with moderate success including a store championship. I do not like the blues anymore and am very interested in greens or prototypes instead. Edited May 11, 2014 by Wookie Hunter
DoubleNot7 768 Posted May 11, 2014 Chewie + Falcon + Determination + Hull Upgrade
Elkerlyc 727 Posted May 11, 2014 Determination is a waste on Chewie. His very own ability negates all crits.
dvorm 1,058 Posted May 11, 2014 Determination is a waste on Chewie. His very own ability negates all crits. Determination discards the card. Chewbacca only turns it face-down. Important difference. And before someone asks: Yes, determination on Chewbacca works as normal.
Elkerlyc 727 Posted May 11, 2014 Imprtant difference? Yes. However; I still think determination is a waste on Chewie.
WonderWAAAGH 7,153 Posted May 11, 2014 For one point it may or may not be a waste. The only issue is that it takes up an EPT slot.
DoubleNot7 768 Posted May 12, 2014 He wanted a survivable Chewie. Determination definitely fits the bill towards that goal.
t7thunders 167 Posted May 12, 2014 Thanks for the responses guys, Sorry I haven't been on, the wife wants the entire house repainted inside. I fell last night off one of the step stools and now I can't even lift my left arm above chest level. I will look into Determination though. I just want to make chewie be able to take the heat off of my a wings long enough for them to Alpha Strike one or two ships on the board, this allowing my favorite wookie to have a easier time with clean up. Alarum 66 Posted May 12, 2014 I flew Chewie Ptl and Falcon, 2x Blue with Ion Cannons and FCS. at a local tourny the other day and won. It was only Rebels vs Imperials though. The Imperials won the day with more victories than the Rebels however I was the only undefeated pilot. Chewie with a focus and evade is hard to take out. ID X T 820 Posted May 12, 2014 I don't know whether the Tantive will be out in time (or legal for that matter), but for future thinking, Chewie will be the ultimate tank with C-3PO and the Falcon title. Sadly R2-D2 crew doesn't combo particularly well with Chewie's ability (or the Falcon's shield reserve either), but he is still kinda sort of viable.
