Recommended Posts

Edit: turns out it's the Imperal Aces restock delayed till Sept NOT the transport. I hate misformation! Sorry for any upset caused to community and FFG alike.

I agree that it's bloody frustrating that the uk seems to be last on the list of priorities. I've had some ships on back order for so long that it's criminal. Does ffg not actually want my money?

I'll let you know if mine arrives tomorrow from Book Depository/Amazon. Only a very small window of opportunity to order but they still appear to have them in stock. Do you know how many your FLG s ordered?

My local FLGS were still expecting transports on Thursday or Friday. I hope they turn up as they are also expecting a delivery of A-wings and Squints. Wonder if this "shortfall" will affect the Wave 4 release.

You could order from the Canada.  I regularly order stuff from the UK to send here and it's pretty cheap shipping.

e.g. www.startlitcitadel.com ships to the UK for about 20 bucks (12 pounds?).  I guess that's pricey if you're only ordering a single mini, but if you're ordering a couple it's not so bad, and the prices for the minis might be cheaper than what they are in the UK anyway.

So I go on Facebook this morning and see this from my FLGS.

"Unfortunate news from Fantasy Flight. We have been told today that instead of coming out on the 9th, the REBEL TRANSPORT will be released in September instead."

Fantasy Flight, What the F**K is this about? Undervaluing the UK market AGAIN? This is unacceptable. Can we please get some Official comment on this, and to why we get NO transports for the official release? Or why the Transports the UK did get are so LOW? You know the stock in the UK Always sells out so please print more just for the UK market.

Thank you for making us in the UK and the EU Feel like second class citizens yet again.

I get it's a business strategy to not print too much and then have stock sitting on shelves/stock rooms not being sold. But you Know X-wing sells, your CEO official stated it is your MOST SUCCESSFUL franchise. And you (Or Esdevium your UK Distributor) know how much orders go in, they are told by retailers how much stock they want - AT LEAST FILL THIS STOCK.

You keep undervaluing not only the UK market but others as well, keep undervaluing us and not giving us the stock we need/deserve and you WILL lose business. You are killing your own business.

This also now messes up my build for the upcoming Regional and Pre-release events.

Can we please get an official response about this to show you actually care about your consumer base.

I just chatted with my FOGS (Friendly-online-gaming-supplier), they are expecting Rebel Transports in the next two weeks in UK.

Which FOGS was that?

Gameslore. They were hoping for this week but said it could just as likely be next week. Also they said no one in the UK should have any yet from Esdevium (the distributor).

My local and only shop told me his delivery would be in a month, however when I asked which month he chastised me for being an old cynic. My fellow xwingers in blighty do you think I was unfairly treated?

Realism and cynicism are not inherently contradictory.

"Perhaps you feel your being treated unfairly?"

lol, **** right, fair play to the US, they've got much more active gaming scenes, stores and most of the decent games, such as MTG and X-wing (and most other FFG products) are all US firms.

But part of the reason that the gaming world is less developed in the UK, is thing's like this.

UK stores pay more in rent and more for their product, meaning their margins are sooo much smaller. On top of that they often receive things much later.

Jonboyjon, I take it from your statement you are american? I am British and gaming scene is very strong where I live. There are 8 gaming groups within 10 miles of where I live and if I wanted to I could game every night (except sundays! Got to recharge the gaming batteries sometime!)

I'm British and there's one 'group' (if you can call it that) in the city I live in, which meats every couple of weeks and has around two people there, if you're lucky. I imagine it depends greatly on where you live specifically, not just what country.

Where do people find these clubs? Maybe we should have a forum section for people to post them.

No, actually, I'm from the UK, I live in Leicestershire.

From my experience, having spoken to a lot of gaming store owners, particularly on american products, they are pretty screwed over.

For example in the US a booster box retails at what? $80?

In the UK, it's £80. I know that's more, but it's also more for the consumer, so it's often a barrier to sales. Also whilst I've seen some active gaming communities and store, they often struggle to hold sanctioned FNM events, because they have to be on a friday night, which for gamers with jobs/families/other social activities, isn't the best night of the week.

Either that, or I've just been unlucky to live in an area without much good gaming going on!

You are unlucky then mate...Like I said there are at least 8 gaming groups and my regular has 8 or so players for x-wing...Search for the clubs on facebook or google. Also the GCN (Games Club Network) are a good source but very GW orienteered but the these clubs do play other games too.

Also pop into your local GW shop and ask for local games clubs.

My main problem is that irregular work hours + one 3 year old + my second child coming in 8 weeks = not much gaming!

My place to go at the minute is Chimera Games in Beeston. Very good store and community.

Well, that'll teach you to keep it in your pants, eh? : P

Beeston, Leeds or Beeston, Nottinghamshire?
