Haven't seen a wave 5 speculation thread for a while

Why do some of you seem to thing the new JJ-Binks/Disney films would fit with this game?

I just don't see it fitting in, I mean look what the fool did to Trek, its almost as bad as what Michael Bay did to transformers!!!

That is IF we get to see anything after being blinded by his **** lens flares

I'm unsure of FFG's position on this but I happen to think we will see a range of scenarios in land based combat.

AT-ATs, AT-STs, Snow speeders, Speeder bikes, Cloud Cars, T-16 Skyhoppers, etc

Think about it .. recognisable and lovable OT vehicles that differ greatly from the current range AND a bunch of new scenarios to play through. The beauty of these scenarios is that (with the exception of the larger models) we can still use our current fighters.

Honestly, I would play a game where I could finally bullseye a womprat in my T-16!

Oh! The new ship from star wars rebels, the ghost, would be a cool ship along with that new TIE fighter used by the main bad guy.

Both would be interesting additions also.

This is my bet for one of the potential Wave 5 builds. The tie-in timing for the Ghost would be perfect for the fall release of Star Wars: Rebels.

I see 2 possible ships for x-wing in this video. For the Empire the mini Tie-carrier right at the beginning would be COOL

That's the Gozanti class cruiser, mentioned on and off as a possible Imperial analogue to the CR-90. I'm not convinced, more because of the way it works as a carrier - having TIE fighters on external racks really drives home the difference in scale between huge ships and 'normal' ones. I'd rather have the escort carrier (which has internal launch bays) for that reason. Maybe I'm just picky.

I agree that would be cool (I'd definitely avoid infantry - just vehicles).

Ooh, AT-STs could have a turn on the sport manouvre.  And both those and ATATs would surely have 180 degree firing arcs (or greater) to represent turnable heads...

Wave 5

IG-88 / Punishing One / Mist Hunter (2 of these Empire)

Outrider / K-wing (Rebel)

The K-Wing is too far in the future. It's outside the Rebellion Era.

For my part, I do think the introduction of a Fringe faction (ie. pirates, Hutts, smugglers, bounty hunters, etc.) would be a good thing. It would be more consistent with the SWU than what we have now. For example, while I have no doubt that the Firespray is a great ship to have in your squad, there's just something 'off' about considering it as an Imperial vessel.

The Wave 4 ships (other than the Headhunter, which I'm happy they included) also strike me as a bit off. They were just produced too late (or after) in the war, with too rarified technology, to merit (IMV) inclusion in the game.

However, I know that SWU realism is not the main focus for FFG, and it probably should not be. Also, I have a particular outlook, which is maybe more orthodox than what the average fan likes. FFG's focus needs to be on how to make a great game and sell products. They undoubtedly have a much better notion of how to that than I do.

But, my wish list would be as followed, assuming the expansion to a Fringe faction - a Wave 5 made to support such an expansion:

- Skipray Blastboat (large...ish)(for all factions)

- Y-TIE Ugly

- YV-666/Hound's Tooth (large)

- Kimogila heavy fighter

Regarding the next epic size, I would actually like a Theta landing craft. It wouldn't be combat heavy, but it's more of a target that needs protecting. It would also be a cool segue to a ground game. I also I think there should be a Sentinel, I think it could suffice as a large vessel.

The game started as Rebels vs. Empire, but I feel long term it would only help the game to add more factions. Yes these factions would be at a disadvantage model wise at the start, but over time they would catch up. The Black Suns and Zahn Consortium are even around during the GCW (not that I feel the game must adhere to only this time period).

I would also support mercenary ships that can be run in any faction. Heck, the Firespray, YT, and HWK should all be merc ships anyways (Kyle even worked for the Empire first) and are not staple ships of either fleet.

every now and when we don't have a forth player....we do this.

imps vs rebs vs mercs. very fun free for all.

If we suppose that FFG wants to balance the number of large ships available to each faction, they could do worse than the Rogue Shadow. Both Juno Eclipse and Rahm Kota flew it for the Rebels, and it makes use of the same stygium technology as the Phantom. The only problem I foresee would be a large ship being endowed with the maneuverability of the cloaking action, which might prove to be completely imbalanced.

If it proves to be too big in terms of scale, they could always make it epic only for ~1 epic point.

Forget all this discussion, Remember that Rebels in in the FAll, so if Disney follow the tradition of SW that have a multiplatafdorm launch of a product, remember Shadows of the Empire, Force Unleashed, etc, the next wave will be with the ships of Rebels, so the Outrider and the Bounty Hunters' ships wiil need to wait to other wave, greettings.

Disney has nothing to do with FFG.

Disney owns Star Wars, FFG produces a game in the Star Wars Universe, therefore Disney does have something to do with FFG. Disney controls the liscensing for Star Wars that FFG uses....

My mainstay wishes are still the Assault Gunboat and TIE Avenger. If the TIE/D and TIE/Ph are too "special" for common Navy players, I'm hoping the Assault Gunboat could be a heavy Imperial fighter that fights almost like a rebel ship to give the Empire some push. I'm happy the dynamics between the factions are different, but the Empire should have more flexibility than between the pillars of TIE swarms, Fragile Speedsters, and Pricey gambles.

I'd be happy of the Avenger was a more expensive TIE Interceptor with shields and some special equipment slots. Now that the TIE Defender is defined, the Avenger could be designed in relation to that, and I'd expect it to be something closer to a conventional TIE Interceptor.

Of course, both craft in the same wave could see the debut of the Beam Weapon subsystem (Tractor beam, Jamming Beam) that was used in the flight sims. Mag-Pulse missiles would be nice too :)

Rebellion R-41s and T-Wings would be nice to see too. Problem is the T-Wing is essentially a body swap for the A-Wing. R-41s would at least handle like Y-Wings with cannon slots and no astromechs, probably shooting missiles instead of torpedoes. Odd, but interestingly niche I'd expect.

I'm not really fond of the idea of splitting into a third faction because I'd like more focus to be on more imperial ship releases so we can get to the ships I'd like to see, faster :P The only use I'd have for pirates (beyond gathering up their upgrade cards), is to represent third party factions in matches between the Empire and the Rebellion. Say fighters allied with the rebellion but not technically on their side.

FFG is not a subsidiary of Disney, and is under no obligation to tie-in with the upcoming Rebels show. So in this context, Disney has nothing to do with FFG.

FFG is obligated to do whatever Disney tells them they can do with the X-Wing product line. If FFG did something that upset Disney, you can kiss this game goodbye.

If Disney tells FFG that a stipulation of continuation of the liscensing agreement (during renewal) is to include the SW:R ships in an upcoming wave, you can bet FFG will comply...unless they want to lose their 'most succesful game ever's license.

You must be privy to something that I'm not. Please show me where the licensing agreement stipulates that.

You must not have read my post in its entirety.

Notice how I used the word IF

When FFG/Disney sign the renewal the terms could (and often do) change. This is very common in the business world for terms to change when old contracts expire and new ones are renewed.

IF (there's that word again), during the process of the lisence renewal, Disney stipulates that FFG include SW:R ships as part of the agreement, then FFG will comply lest they risk losing their license.

Remember what happend to the SW:CCG game when Decipher lost the license? Yeah same thing would happen to X-Wing if FFG lost their license.
