Upcoming Changes to the Fantasy Flight Games Forums   01/20/2017

Hello Fantasy Flight Games forum community!   This week, we will be making some important changes to your Fantasy Flight Games community account and the way that you log into the Fantasy Flight Games community forums and web store.   We have been working hard to integrate with the rest of the Asmodee group, and we are happy to announce a unified way to access all the websites and apps made by Fantasy Flight Games, Days of Wonder, and Asmodee!   For most users, nothing will change: you will still log into the Fantasy Flight Games forums using your current login name and password. Only the login user interface will be new.   For a few users, your credentials might be slightly changed. For example, this could happen to users who have both a Fantasy Flight Games and Days of Wonder account, or in the case of conflicting login names across platforms. When these situations occur, special e-mails will be sent to those users with an easy explanation about those changes and what steps to take next. For any of you receiving those e-mails, please make sure to follow the instructions carefully.   Remember, official communications from Fantasy Flight Games or Asmodee.Net will never ask for your password.   What are the benefits for you as a player? Using a unified account to access all of our web services and apps makes your life simpler. Over time, you will see new features emerging, such as keeping all of your friends under a single account, finding friends easily in apps with online play, or developing your personal profile by adding to your board games collection. These are just some of the features that you will see during the next year, once this important technical step is complete.   Important note: The migration of the forums to our new system will take place on Tuesday, January 24th. The forums will be offline for about two hours during that time. Once the migration is complete, older forum posts may look strange for up to 24 hours as we rebuild them in our new system.   We can’t wait to connect our board game communities and build bridges between universes, game systems, players, events, groups, game clubs, and more! This is only the first step in bringing people and games closer together. For more information, read our FAQ at https://asmodee.helpshift.com/a/asmodee-net/.   Best regards,   The Fantasy Flight Games Team

Haven't seen a wave 5 speculation thread for a while

182 posts in this topic

No citation, but I thought that FFG does not have license to prequel ships.

I keep hearing that, but have never seen anything that backs it up.

It doesn't actually make sense, why would the Star Wars license only include the OT movies? FFG said they wanted to stick to OT stuff, but the idea that the license only covers one set of movies just doesn't make sense logically.

Especially when you consider that they've included things that were see in Eps 1-3.

Did they definitely say they want to stick to OT ships? They've done EU ships.

Honestly, there was a thread like this recently, and you should find it if you look for it... we really don't need another.

As for prequel stuff.. word is, this is a game about the rebellion era, so no prequel ships should be used.. I heard that was an FFG comment...

Starting new threads is more fun!

Well more to the point they said they wanted to stick to "rebellion era" type ships. Which would include things like the Z-95, YT-2400, even the Tie Defender and Phantom. the E-Wing is pushing it a bit but looks enough like a rebellion era ship to cut it.

I don't remember where they said that, but it was in reference to them doing Prequel ships.

My speculation:

Assault Gunboat
Virago (built-in 1 K-turn)
Outrider
R-41 Starchaser(?)

Imperial Epic Ships (Storm Commando Escort Carrier + TIE Hunter, Stormtrooper transport + TIE Advanced)

New "aces" boxes: Mainstays of the Fleet
Imperial: TIE Fighter and TIE Bomber
Rebel: 2x Y-wing

Disney's done its best to bury the prequels. Prequel ships likely aren't happening and prequel factions would be majorly outmatched in the meta if they did. New ships'll be Rebel/NR or Imperial.

They've released five EU ships so far, the TIE defender, the Z-95, the HWK, the TIE phantom and the E-wing. All of these are EU mainstays except for the Phantom, which got made probably because they liked the cloaking mechanic and it's a thing of beauty. I think we have to remember that when speculating: we're after well-defined staples of EU here, those are the biggest probabilities.

I hope it isn't prequal ships... I really want my Outrider. :p

I'd be surprised if we see any new EU models after the non-canon announcement.

That logic makes the YT-2400 an even better bet, actually, since the most recent edition of the OT includes an Outrider cameo--meaning it's canon even under the new rules. Edited by Vorpal Sword

who said its NOT canon? i mean seriously just because Lucas/Disney say something?? Cannon is what we the collective fans believe...   just saying i want it ALL prequels postquels and what ever else turns up...  however at the risk of mixing threads and going OT. I DON'T want ships that are hugely out of scale just because they are "Iconic" i like the fact the FFG has tried to keep things IN scale.. its one of the things i didn't like about attack wing and the old star fleet battles...

Imperial aces 2 with death star and super star destroyer. Which makes me thing a regular star destroyer in on the way also.

That's stupid.

They'll be between waves, like the Tantive and Transport.

Outsider did show up in the redone episode 4, as did the imperial landing craft, can't remember the name, but it would be an interesting addition.

Beyond that, there isn't much for rebels, though there are dozens of options for the imperials.

I think some of the main starfighters (naboo, jedi, arc-170,v-19, v-wing) would be interesting and mostly competitive. Though I think most would end p with only 2 attack dice...

I think we should all keep a close eye on Episode 7.  FFG would be smart to release things that try and ride that marketing wave.

^^^^

You'd be crazy to believe they won't hop on that gift horse.

There WILL be ships released from the new movie in this game. You heard it here first.

Feel free to quote this post when the news hits FFG's site :P

No, that's headcanon. Official canon is what LFL says. And that's what FFG sources from.

that new TIE fighter used by the main bad guy.

Looks like a stylised x1. Speaking of ships that need an Aces rerelease...

My bets are on Outrider and Skipray.

Good Lord, Aminar and I actually agree on something.

See, there's been a lot of talk of "iconic" Star Wars ships.  The X-Wing is synonymous with the franchise.  The TIE Fighter.  The Millennium Falcon.  Slave-1.  The Star Destroyer.  In fact, pretty much every piece of technology shown in the Original Trilogy has that instantly-recognisable look and feel.

Other than the Naboo Fighter, I cannot for the life of me name a single starfighter from the prequel trilogy.  Or large ship for that matter. Or capital ship.  IIRC, over the course of the prequel trilogy, the vehicles slowly started to develop into and look more like the iconic vessels we knew and loved from the Original Trilogy, but can I actually name any of them?

....no, not really.

But yes, I hope the recent announcements regarding the canon status of the Extended Universe don't hamper FFG's plans.  I'd love to see the Outrider, Assault Gunboats, Skipray Blastboats, Muurian Transports, Pursuer-Class Enforcement Ships... the Wild Karrde...
