mixykym 0 Posted April 24, 2009 again... invader playing smash card, states at start of turn, does the invader by common sense have to have a igure adjacent to door/obstacle ?
Scy800 1 Posted April 24, 2009 As far as I know it's not necessary to have an invader figure next to it. It doesn't say so on the card anyway.

RedMageStatscowski 117 Posted April 24, 2009 I'm sure Hell Knights are strong enough to rip a chunk of metal and chuck it at the door or block. It reminds me of Left 4 Dead (those tanks think my head is a target)
mixykym 0 Posted April 24, 2009 hi knuckles, yip i agree if you think of a beastie like a hellknight throwing something at a door in line of sight etc, but to smash a door/obstacle anywhere on the board without adjacent/line of sight ? just seems weird,an ivader can in game turns...clear a revealed room with no beasties left of doors/obstacles so that later on possibly several turns later a big beastie can enter the room ...... Steve-O 473 Posted April 24, 2009 The base is falling apart as a result of random damage being caused all over the place. Maybe some damage caused by an invader on another level causes a chain reaction that blows the door down here off its hinges? It's a stretch, I admit, but explaining HOW the card happens is secondary to what it actually does. Come up with whatever fluff excuses you want to explain the event, just play the card as written. That's my approach anyway.
Jervon 1 Posted April 24, 2009 Think about that like some dark powers that cause "things" to explode. Then you dont need any monster to litellary destroy doors or whatever you want to destroy. And remember its just a board game
mixykym 0 Posted April 24, 2009 okie dokie.... sometimes i just want things to make sense......erm your a UAC marine on an abandoned base on mars....faced with a near never ending amount of really big bad guys trying to kill you...(very efficiantly)...ok that makes sense... Steve-O 473 Posted April 27, 2009 You could also think about it like this, if it helps: The invaders comes from Hell, and some of them very clearly invoke magic beyond the normal laws of physics. Hell and it's related spawn are generally considered to be scary and to take pleasure in scaring the **** out of mortals, and Doom does not appear to be an exception to that rule. So maybe the less tanigible forces of Hell are causing things to explode around you in an effort to scare you shitless (and also clear the way for the larger approaching baddies.) Once again, this is all fluff. If it helps you sleep better at night, use it, if it doesn't, come up with your own reasons. If it really, really bothers you, make a house rule. Just make sure everyone at the table is cool with that.
