UK Wave 3 Restock gone missing?

Recommended Posts

So my FLGS and a few others I know the staff from have said they haven't had their Wave 3 restock yet, and some have been told they'll get it with the Rebel Transport.

A few other UK retailers have had a restock however as they were out of stock on B-wings and now have 30+ in stock.

Anyone else heard this or know what might be going on? Is FFG or Esdevium messing about with shipments?

My LGS told me on Friday that Esdevium has said that the restock will be Soon. I had mentioned that a couple of the online retailers  have said that they received stock on Wednesday and are shipping, so my LGS is speculating that they may be sourcing their stock through alternative channels.

Personally, the online retailers I have seen with the new stock are adding a couple of quid on top because they know buyers are desperate, so I'm definitely happy to wait for Esdevium to get stock through to my LGS. Whether or not the online stores have sourced the stock through a different party or if Esdevium are just playing favourites with the stores that buy the most stock though I couldn't say.

I picked up an A and B wing from my FLGS in Portsmouth yesterday. But the new staff member didn't seem to know anything about the Rebel Transport being released.

I hope they are sourced from else where Neko, or there is going to be hell to pay if they are playing favourites and it gets out.

It's a wonder we get any stock in the country at all the way Esdevium run things >.<

Some of the prices going on EBay are horrible, the auctions for things like B-Wings have been £18+ (current one with 6hrs left is £16+£4 postage) , I saw 2 played with A-Wings go for £36 + £3 postage, that annoyingly is the problem of the current system of getting the models out, too much demand with too few models which people are making lots of money from.

Wayland games still have all of their wave 3 stuff marked down with a 30th April release date. And for the last 4 months they've been emailing me 2 weeks before their previous release dates to tell me they've been pushed back.

So maybe there's hope that 30th April is possible? Either that or they've just stopped emailing people.

I totally get that from a business point of view FFG needs to focus on its new products (Imperial/Rebel Aces, the Huge Ships, Wave 4). But by seemingly not being too bothered that certain ships from all 3 previous waves are impossible to get hold off - doesn't make business sense either.

They're lucky that Core Sets and Xwings and TIE Fighters are so easy to get, because in all other ways they're throwing up a lot of barriers to entry at the minute.

I started buying into this game in November 2013, and whilst I've been able to get the Core Set, an X-Wing, Tie Fighter, and some of the large ships, there's loads of others that just aren't available.

They seem to be happy with supporting the players they've already accrued up until this point, but not too bothered about supporting newer players. Supporting those kinds of players is the best way of supporting the business and health of the game.

It isn't a fact they aren't focusing on older ships Jonboy, FFG CEO has stated in an article they print what they know they will sell through, its a smart business strategy means they don't have stock they can't ship, but you think they'd print more at least if only for the UK market considering they know they can't keep stock on shelves for more than a few days (unless its core/wave1 stuff)

Things aren't much better in the US.

Interceptors and A-wings have huge mark ups on Amazon. Most retailers are sold out. Thankfully Coolstuffinc seems to still have some stuff at good prices.

eBay tends to still have the small ships at close to retail:

I saw a posting for an A-wing for $12.95 plus $2.89 shipping, for $15.84, that is in the US but claims will ship worldwide.  That is actually $0.15 less than what the store down the street is selling ships for.

Last week I got the Imperial Aces off of eBay for $20 plus $5 shipping.

At any rate, I'd suggest eBay unless there are some kind of import restrictions I'm not aware of.

As an aside, apparently those of us in the Detroit, MI USA area are super lucky because we have about 5 stores within 30 miles that seem to have at least 1 of everything in stock.

Right, I popped into my LGS yesterday to add a couple more Bombers to my order, and whilst I was there they said that they're expecting the restock in from Esdevium at some point in May. This did come with a disclaimer that it's by no means a certainty, but they do think it's more likely than not that I'll have them in time for Imdaar.
