300 meters or less...

Recommended Posts

The gozanti is 41m. The millenium falcon is 34m. The transport is about 90m. It would make more sense to scale down the gozanti slightly and make it a large ship than make it a bigger ship relative to the transport. But thats just me.

I think you missed the Carrack-class cruiser

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Carrack-class

okay I know it is 350meters but I want to reenact  the mission from the Rogue Squadron Book where the Carrack and Lancer ambush the Rogues+ Defender Wing and Corran does his stuff and blows up the Lancer (Well technically the Y-Wings blow it up and Corran didn't do anything but act as Torpedo bait to extend the range past that of the Lancer's guns, but I digress)

I would love a Skipray to be added because it could serve as another "Pirate" ship as well, I think having a ion primary would be awesome and then allow a new turret "Laser Turret" 7ish pts range 3 3 attack, or a missile/torpedo turret (some ships in the fluff have them)

Heck, who wouldn't love to do a "Pirate Raid" Z-95 swarm, Bounty Hunters, ORS, Y-wings, Skiprays, Lambdas, and any fairly common ship Epic Battle, but once again I digress from the main point of the thread

I think, if they want an ISD-type ship they should go with the Vindicator-class Heavy Cruiser, as it had both anti-capital and anti-starfighter configurations, as well as being the hull for the Immobilizer. It would be pushing the scale, but not as badly as other ships that shalt not be named.

.....and there's more...

SCT Long-Range Scout Craft (75m long)

A lightly-armed reconnaissance vessel that would seem to be a perfect Imperial equivalent to the Rebel Transport, buffing nearby allies or debuffing enemy ships.

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/SCT_Scout_craft

Muurian Transport (30m x 30m x 8m)

Another potential addition to the mid-size range of ships.  The epic game format doesn't necessarily need to just be about the huge ships, but more and varying types of ships of all sizes...

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Muurian_transport

Star Galleon-class Frigate (300m long)

....but of course if you really want to push the limits of what's feasibly playable, then why not hop on the back of this giant space snail and go for a ride?  It's big, it's beastly-lookin', it's surprisingly not overpowered for it's size.  One ship, 5 epic points, probably about 50 shields and hull to dig through.

Honestly, I think it is going to be the Gozanti also.  It has the convenience of doubling with the new TV show, and it isn't a bad looking ship at all.

Also, there is this concept art from Rebels, which would make a great ship to.  Compared the the Ghost next to it, which I would estimate would be millennium falcon sized, it looks in the 100m range.

Edit: The site that I got this from, here, mentions that the ship is a transport/cargo ship.  Right up the alley of the GR-75.

People are mostly looking for the iconic imperial triangle look an actual star destroyer or super star destroyer wouldn't work.

However a vigil class corvette or bayonet class cruiser is all typically any imperial wants in design.

However a small 3foot long star destroyer w about 5 fighter bays on each side would be awesome.

Who doesn't want to say:

Star Destroyer Heavy Turbolaser cannon #42, Range 2, X-wing #2. *rolls dice*

Star Destroyer Heavy Turbolaser cannon #43, Range 2, X-wing #2. *rolls dice*

Star Destroyer Heavy Turbolaser cannon #44, Range 3, X-wing #2. *rolls dice*

....that seems like a rather broad, blanket statement.  I'm an imperial player, and I would love to see pretty much all of the ships listed in this thread.

I didn't mean exclusively that ship. I meant people who are looking for a star destroyer with that imperial triangle look must obviously know you can't fit a 10 foot long star destroyer on a board. And for that same design the vigil or bayonet works as a smaller ship. Of course I want other ships as well such as the hounds tooth which I didn't see listed here.

Please no Star Destroyer talk here. This is about ships of 300 meters or less. There's currently 15 pages worth of Star Destroyer talk going on.

Vigil Class Corvette, at 255 meters, is included in my list. It joins the Imperial Custom Corvette as my favourite Imperial ships for this game. Partly because they both look right for "small" Empire ships.

So, let's try and put a couple of these ships into the Epic point system... if the Corvette is 3 and the Transport is 2, where could some of these ships fall into the scale?

Carrack-Class Light Cruiser  (350m) - 5 Epic points?
EF76-B Nebulon-class Escort Frigate  (300m) - 5 Epic points?

I really do think these would be pushing the limit of what is feasible in the current ruleset to breaking point.  I couldn't see them being fielded for less than 200 points a pop, more with upgrades.

Vigil-Class Corvette  (255m) - 4 Epic points?
Lancer-Class Frigate  (250m) - 4 Epic points?
Tartan-Class Patrol Cruiser  (250m) - 4 Epic points?

150 to 200 point range, they'd still allow you to field a fair number of smaller ships and fighters in support.

Marauder-class Corvette  (195m) - 3 Epic points?
Imperial Customs Corvette  (180m) - 3 Epic points?
IPV-1 System Patrol Craft  (120m) - 3 Epic points?
SCT Long-Range Scout Craft  (75m) - 2 Epic points?

As close as we can get in scale to the Corvette, and probably would weigh in at the 75 to 150 point range.

Container Transport (200m) - 2 Epic points?
Action IV Transport (125m) - 2 Epic points?
BFF-1 Bulk Freighter (120m) - 2 Epic points?
Mobquet Medium Transport (113m) - 2 Epic points?

As Imperial counterparts to the Rebel Transport, or even available to both factions, lightly-armed support ships could vary in points quite considerably depending on their role.  The unarmed BFF-1 could be similar to the Rebel Transport in the 2535 point range, while the Action IV could be anywhere up to 100.

Just curious. The Vigil is growing on me, but ships like the Vigil and other Star Destroyer designs in the Essential Guide to Warfare, were based on some submitted fan art. Anyone think there might be a licensing problem?

I think the Vigil is the most iconic-Imperial shaped craft in the specified size limit, but even at the Epic (1/500, 1/540?) scale, it would be pushing about 20"...I'd love to see it though!

Yeah, that's what worries me abut the Vigil.  It's a great looking design and although it's been adopted in the EU I think there might be all kinds of issues with actually producing a model of it.

I don't think licensing problems will be restricted to fanon ships either.  FFG will no doubt be working extremely closely with Disney regarding ship design, scaling and representation within the game, which could put yet another nail in the coffin of the ludicrously scaled-down Star Destroyer.

I actually view the Disney licensing the other way when it comes to the ISD, but that's not a subject for this thread.

But back on the subject, are there any smaller Imp focused capital ships piloted by well known characters beyond Hound's Tooth and Bossk? I just can't really think of too many off the top of my head.

Judge them by their size do you? And well you should not.

Frigates and Cruisers for 5, Corvettes and Patrol Craft for 3, Transports for 2.

The Vigil is an odd beastie as a heavy corvette, I'd bump it up to Cruiser level, which is where Wookieepedia has it as well.

Then, model wise, you could fudge a little and make the corvettes a wee bit smaller and cruisers and frigates somewhat bigger.

I mean, do we really care if a Marauder is remodelled to 150 meters instead of 195?

Likewise add another 25 meters to the 250 meter ships so the models end up about the same size.

Only make the 5 pointers feasible in a new format, Legendary or Iconic. :P.

500 points, 8 epic points.
