2 questions from a game I just played on vassal

1) There was a time where my opponent had a bwing crashed (parallel) into my firespray.  On the next move he did a 2k turn.  He said since the base is length 2 he would make it, I wasn't so sure but let him do it.  I don't know how exact the base is.  I know on vassal nubs don't count, but in real life they do, so I'd think the 2k would have to be done to the side of the firespray otherwise it hits the nubs and can't make it.  I'm pretty sure that wasn't the case in this game.

 

2) Late in the game I rolled a crit on his Han falcon with Kath.  He used chewie crew to remove it and add back a shield.  I thought that should mean he gets a stress but he said no, so I was nice and let him do what he thought again.

 

Even if I'm correct on both I won the game anyways so it won't be used as an excuse.

1) is interesting...  On Vassal, it was probably legal.  In RL, the nubs would block.  For Vassal play I'd probably just do the automatic move and see if it overlapped.

 

2) Your opponent was correct here.  Die results -> Damage -> Cards.  Kath gives stress when an opponent cancels a {Critical Hit} die result.  Chewie activates on a dealt damage card.  So the opponent didn't cancel the result (obviously, since it got all the way to the card) Kath does nothing.

1) Nubs are part of the base. If they overlap, it is an overlap. The maneuver does not work.

 

The base is 40 mm x 40 mm or 80 mm x 80 mm. The nubs are half a circle with 3 mm diameter.

 

2) No stress. Kath ability refers to the crit die result. It resolves during compare results, not deal damage. Chewbacca resolves during deal damage.

The rule for Vassal is that the nubs are ignored, but that applies only to Vassal. I am not sure why it applies this way but you can always get an agreement from your opponent before play that nubs do count for maneuvering. I'm not a fan of learning bad tactics that would get me into trouble during a table game.

I believe it's because the nubs are small enough to cause graphics problems for Vassal.  They can't be represented well, so the consensus is to use nubs which are larger than they should be to make them usable.

Interesting.  So for live play, the nubs can cause collisions.  I had always thought that the nubs only counted in bombs?  So the nubs in live play don't extend the firing range as part of the base, but they do cause collisions as part of the base?
