Flux Cobalt 6 Posted April 8, 2014 I would like to have a one squad using a: Tie Bomber with Major Rhymer and a Tie Advanced X1 with Vader. Any suggestions for other ships to add? I only have one Bomber and one Advanced X1, I do have four Tie Interceptors and two Tie’s left over to use. I also have the Aces pack. Thanks for any help. DB Draft 1,305 Posted April 8, 2014 (edited) How about: Vader + Swarm Tactics 31 pts Rhymer + Push the Limit + Adv. Proton Torpedoes + Cluster Missiles + Seismic Charge 41 pts Carnor Jax + Elusiveness 28 pts Not alot of synergy and you could replace Swarm Tactics with Squad leader so Rhymer doesn't need Push the Limit to get two actions. Could also replace clusters and seismic with another Advance Proton Torpedo. Vader + Squad Leader 31 pts Rhymer + Adv. Proton Torpedoes x 2 38 pts Carnor Jax + Push the Limit + Targeting Computer 31 pts Edited April 8, 2014 by DB Draft
AlexW 2,902 Posted April 8, 2014 I'd try to add some cheap hard hitters in there. Something like: Vader with Squad Leader (to help Rhymer get both TL and focus) 31 Rhymer with Advanced Proton Torpedoes, Concussion Missiles. Backstabber 16 (though maybe you just have Core Tie pilots? In which case I'd go Night Beast and change Concussion Missiles to Assault or Homing, or give Rhymer Veteran Instincts). TezzasGames 1,014 Posted April 8, 2014 Jonus + whatever you want to arm him with. Vader + concussion missiles. + rest of squad. When Vader flies close to Jonus, he will score four hits most of the time with the Concussion Missiles. It's a great early punch for knocking out an opposing stealth device. When munitions failsafe is released, it might be worth putting it on Jonus and giving him assault missiles to follow Vader's strike.
Magnus Grendel 10,578 Posted April 8, 2014 If you specifically want to use Rhymer, then you're only going to get your money's worth with short-ranged ordnance that Rhymer's ability allows you to heft further. With the sets you've got, that means either Advanced Proton Torpedoes or Cluster Missiles. Squad Leader on Vader is always a good idea; because who doesn't like a PS9 action, but target-lock-driven bombers nead it more than most. For Rhymer's ability, I'd like to try the new opportunist, because the ability to add extra dice to a secondary weapon attack strikes me as fun. I'd pack concussion missiles and squad leader on Vader (29+4+2), and advanced proton torpedoes and opportunist on Rhymer (26+6+4). Other than that, you might as well go with what you know; bulking out on pair of TIE fighters to give you some backup once the alpha strike is expended. Flux Cobalt 6 Posted April 8, 2014 (edited) Thanks for the help everyone. I just went with Rhymer just because I like him. I just wanted to use a named bomber pilot. Edited April 8, 2014 by Flux Cobalt
That One Guy 2,242 Posted April 8, 2014 Vader + Marksmanship + Concussion Misslies + Engine Upgrade Rhymer + PtL + Concussion Missiles + Ad. Proton Torpedoes + Proton Bomb Dark Curse (a TIE with some staying power is good to round this out) Amazingly devastating initial ordinance strikes, make sure you PtL for focus on those torpedoes and marksmanship your missiles. Use Vader and Dark Curse to help you close out. I won last weeks league match with this squad.
