I created a randomized adventure generator.  I'll plunk along on it for a while.

Updated:  all 6 encounters laid out.

 

That's it for today.  I've got a few more things I'll tinker with and add at request (including tailoring).  Hope this is fun or helpful for you Gms to use.

This is pretty cool. I might use this in the future some time if I am caught unprepared for a session.

 

I just tried generating one and the last encounter was this:

 

Location: Hospice Of Shallya

Encounter with Swarms

Specific: Rat Swarm

Random Action: Flame Breath

It gets you thinking about cool variations in encounters doesn't it!

 

They go over a Flame Breath example on page 12 of The Creature Guide. The following ideas come to mind for me on that result:

  • daemonic fire rats,
  • a fire in the building,
  • rats afraid of fire,
  • having to burn wounds made by the rats to stop disease 
  • an important bright wizard is unconscious in there and needs rescue
  • rat swarms with frickin' laser beams attached to their heads :)

A great addition, but hard to use "on the fly" without a laptop. It would make for a great and useful app, so learn programming and start creating. ;)

 

I find your scenario generator to be an excelent inspiration when preparing mini adventures for my group. A fun idea I have yet to try out would be to use it to randomize a "quest board" (you know, as in all the computer RPGs out there) then let the players  select a job to do. It would require a minimum of preparaiton from the GM and would allow the players to do "side quests" every now and then. Might give the players a feel of freedom to the game for the right players.

 

 

If (when?) you ever feel bored again you could create a "quest board" version of the adventure generator. It would be cool with an adventure generator that generates an employer, a (short) quest, a complication and a reward.

Something similar to that would be a nice addition to your allready great scenario generator! :) And I would love to help coming up with stuff to fill it with (such as centre locations, basic plot, sub plot and main villain to use the terms from the Operation: Fallen Reich generator).

Looks great, keep up the fantastic work. :)

I've planned to roll up some short adventures to use next time the players head into town and let them hear "rumors" about the different random adventures and see if they choose to investigate.

Added major historical events for research relationships, added a lot more locations listed from the books.

 

The historical events part is kind of neat.  I figure it gives inspiration and background to whatever the adventure is.

Version 1.8 is out. It is now set up so that you can simply COPY/PASTE to your document for editing. I cleaned up a couple things.
