King beyond the wall - positioning problems

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

played my first game yesterday and loved it. We had a 4 player game with all the trouble and mistakes one can expect from a first time through but thats just fine. One problem we really couldn't tackle though.

In the last round, after some heavy bidding, we lost to the wildlings (str 10) and had to face the King beyond the wall. One of my friends bid 3, the rest of us bid 2. So the iron throne decided I would be the lowest bidder and so i put all my tokens on the lowest spot. There things became unclear.

When playing with 4, is the last spot the 4th or 6th spot? Only the king's court track has a special overlay but that does not block spots 5 and 6. But then again, whats the point of having 6 spots when playing with 4?

After I places my tokens on spot 6, the others had to place their tokens on the lowest spot in turn order on the fiefdom and kings court tracks. But at that point, what is the lowest spot? Is it the lowest available spot or does their placement push my tokens up the tracks? That does not seem fair but then again, tidings in Westeros rarely are.

Can anyone help a new player out?

Although the Rulebook text doesn't clarify, the illustrations on Page 28 show Positions 5 and 6 "X'd out".  Those Positions are not available on any of the Influence Tracks.  You would move your Tokens to Position 4 on all 3 Tracks.

During any game with less than 6 players you have an exact same number of positions on any influence track. The overlay exists since each position on King's Court track got a special amount of Stars (aka Special Orders Available).

This means that the lowest position is 4th.

Your friends have to go down on the 4th position on Fieldom's or King's Court Influence tracks one by one, moving the rest of the Houses for 1 position up.
