Exactly.
For a franchise as large as Star Wars, canon is a cancer from which the body cannot recover. There are too many creators and too much media to have perfect consistency be a realistic goal and therefore no attempt should be made to achieve it.
As long as the individual stories are told well and the characters are true to themselves while being given the ability to grow and change, we’ll be in good shape.
We really don’t.
Characters are not perfectly informed, they are not always honest, and so much of what gets discussed in Star Wars is based on legends, hearsay, assumptions, etc. Needing stated reasons for why stuff is changed or is/isn’t done is part of why Rise of Skywalker is so bad; the characters waste time talking about why they don’t just Holdo maneuver everything.
Besides, even when we do get extremely specific reasons for why things change... if they conflict with head canon people just don’t care. Luke spends a lot of time in The Last Jedi talking very specifically about WHY he exiled himself, WHY what happened with Kylo Ren happened, WHY he initially misled Rey about it, etc.,... And the internet is still filled with “not MY Luke” takes.
Perfect consistency is not possible and there are enough Star Wars fans out there that creators cannot hit everyone’s canon sweet spot, so... just tell rad stories.

TheGoldfinch reacted to Alan Noir in THE MANDALORIAN, in a Civilized Age
The older I get the less I care about canon. In the last 2 or 3 years I've been making more of an effort to get to know my own Irish folklore and mythology. All ths stories have the same characters but major inconsistencies. One guy Fionn Mac Cumhail is a warrior where I live, but a 90 min drive away he's considered a lazy giant.
Star Wars existed for 20 years in 3 films with very little backstory explained. And we loved it, it sustained itself. I appreciate Disney making the effort to have everyrhing tie in together, but if stuff doesnt line up I don't care anymore. There's stuff I think should be left to the audience to decide. I think of it as a legend, a story a long time ago in a galaxy far far away. A bit of mystery and contradiction is fine.

I have one from Gadzooks I could send you
Just be aware that they are a bit on the large side. Pic of rebel trooper lady next to it for reference.

TheGoldfinch reacted to werdnaegni in Tabletop Admiral down for the night
Hey uhhh, TTA died. It got hugged really hard. I've got to take it down and rework a few things to get it to a more stable place so this can't happen again. All the data is safe, don't worry.
Sorry for the bad timing. I know everyone looks forward to playing with the new points. Hopefully after this, the site will be faster overall. Just gotta do some leg work. I foresee it taking me 4 or 5 hours of work, which I will be up tonight doing. If all goes well, I'll have it switched over before I have to sleep.
Thanks for the support and for killing my site. It's cool that it's come to that point. But also it sucks. Coffee time.

If Alex and Luke are still on board I personally wouldn't be worried about this. But if Alex is indeed gone and Luke is indeed potentially gone, this I think is a huge concern.

TheGoldfinch reacted to Darth Sanguis in New limited Luke Skywalker special edition
Most people have a theme or aesthetic that they really enjoy in Star Wars. For me it was the RotS Obi. I had to have it. Paid $125 for it. I have it ready to be resin cast as soon as I'm off my lazy bum to do it.

I really like everything you’ve posted! I’m a big fan of your clean painting style, you’ve inspired me to do my Rebel’s similarly to yours. I especially love the theme of fleet trooper helmets and colour scheme throughout, it’s my favourite colours for the Rebels, and I always adored the fleet trooper design and image of them lining the sides of the corridors to fight the storm troopers blasting in.
Anyway! Awesome job!

Here's hoping it is better than the last Star Wars holiday special :-P. At least since it is Lego, silliness is expected.

Prune face & prawn face. I've ordered some almond-shaped goodness to the humans of the squad, and so painted these in the meantime. Went for a Raddus inspired paintjob for the mon calamari.
Started on the mandalorian resistance as well. I wanted a paintjob that looked mandalorian, while still fitting with the rest of the army theme and I am quite pleased with the result. The rest of the squad will have some variations in theme, along with mismatched armour pieces, inspired by The mandalorian's pre-shiny armour.

Thanks! For the undersuit, I used a coat of administratum grey, recess shaded with nuln oil, then sparingly highlighted with administratum grey mixed with white scar. The brownish-red of the armour is gorthor brown, washed with reikland fleshshade, then highlighted with gorthor brown. The dull blue parts were russ grey highlighted with fenrisian grey, and the vibrant part was caledon sky highlighted with russ grey. Belt and holsters were painted skavenblight dinge, recess shaded nuln oil and highlighted stormvermin fur. Metal parts were simply painted runefang steel, washed with nuln oil, except for the missile, which was washed with reikland flesh, to liken that of Boba Fett's.
As the goofy names suggest, these were all citadel paints

Glad you think so! The technique isn't very advanced. Most of my minis are primed white, then the shirt is painted with citadel russ grey, recess shaded using some nuln oil, then highlighted using fenrisian grey.
