  1. How do you feel about this? I think a payload could be really good if you plan on using Scimitar so that you can still deal damage while cloaked. That only leaves 2 points, which is why I threw passive-sensors on one of the Tri-Fighters to grab a lock incase they run against a higher initiative attacker that closes in on them. Alternatively, I also considered downgrading one of the Fearsome predators to a Separatist Interceptor to get an extra point and give Maul a hull upgrade instead of putting passive sensors on a Tri-Fighter. 2. hmmmm.... you might just be tempting me to grab a third tri-fighter...... I'm trying to figure out how to get two i5s + Jango to work as an Sep Ace lineup, but I like the look of that triple+Zam list too....
  3. I think in particular the biggest advantage these have over, say, TIE Interceptors is probably their dial and maneuverability, but isn't this advantage somewhat negated by throwing them in a swarm?
  4. I'm trying to figure out good lists for CIS that incorporate these. Would you mind sharing a list that you've found to be successful?
  5. ahh yes of course. I completely forgot that it set aside networked calculations. Then yeah, 1 or 2 points. This is even more so since it takes up your mod slot which many would probably prefer to use for stealth device or afterburners.
  6. I agree. I THINK 1 point or free might be a little scary when applied to an entire swarm of vultures. Imagine facing off against 6 network calculating vultures all with 2 calculates? seems brutal. But yes, I was pretty bothered by the pricing as compared to the Eta.... Given the choice between an i5 tri-fighter or a i4 Jedi general with TWO force and customizability, I would take the Jedi General any day. I have been trying to fit Tri-Fighters on lists and have so far been unsuccessful; i'm trying to figure out a good way to pair two i5's with Jango Fett and have had mixed (mostly poor) results.
  7. I think I have to agree with most of what is being said. I've run it a few times and 41 points for the i5 seems about right. I also can't help but think that the generics are too expensive, but haven't been too annoyed by this since these ships seems to want initiative. And yes, they would thrive much better with independent calculations, but I haven't been able to justify spending 4 points on this upgrade. I think 2, MAYBE 3 is better considering the price of stress.
  8. If I drop a bomb such that it would overlap with multiple ships, does the effect of the mine resolve for each ship? For example, if I drop a proximity mine and it lands right dab in the middle of a swarm of 4 ships, does each ship suffer a damage and then roll two attack dice? the text reads: After a ship overlaps or moves through this device, it detonates. When this device detonates, that ship rolls 2 attack dice. That ship then suffers 1 regular damage plus 1 regular/critical damage for each matching result.
  9. alternate hot-take. ffg is being super nice by giving us incentive to use generic swarms when they secretly know that everyone is playing online anyways for the moment and doesn't need to buy new ships to accommodate the HS meta.
  10. ahh shoot, yeah. That's embarassing.... I just re-read the rules. I always get confused on the order of which players mods which dice in which order... "You always modify your own dice last." is a good rule of thumb.
  11. Hello all, Jango Fett's (pilot) ability reads as follows: While you defend or perform a primary attack, if the difficulty of your revealed maneuver is less than that of the enemy ship’s, you may change 1 of the enemy ship’s [focus eye] results to a blank result. According to my understanding of the rules, Jango Fett's ability (both as pilot and crew) are both rendered useless while a ship with Jango is attacking. This is because in the Rules Reference the order of operations states that during the "modify defence dice" stage: b. Modify Attack Dice: The players resolve abilities that modify the attack dice. The defending player resolves their abilities first, then the attacking player resolves their abilities. Correct me if I'm wrong, but what value is there in being able to change a defender's [focus eye] result to a blank if the defender has already had the chance to modify that [focus eye] result into an evade? I really hope this is an oversight that gets addressed, because otherwise Jango's already rather "meh" ability only ends up helping his defensive capabilities.
  12. Is there an established way of determining order for actions that take place "during system phase." In particular what I have in mind is the new Aphlacc tri-fighters ability to look at dials. Let's say I am flying an Aphlacc tri-fighter against a Tie/Phantom that is deciding which direction it wants to go after it decloaks; the direction in which the Phantom moves after decloaking may be determined by whether or not I know what move is on his dial. On the other hand, if I am a tri-fighter deciding if I want to spend my lock to see his dial, I am DEFINITELY going to want to know what direction he has barrel-rolled/boosted during the system phase. Is there any way of determining which player goes first during the system phase?
  13. So I've struggled with Separatists since I've started playing... All I've been able to get to work is swarming 6 vultures with 2 Belbullabs. I'm still a little underwhelmed by the new options. The HMPs are nice to finally get some beef, but the defensive capabilities of Seps have felt lacking for me. Anyways, I'm trying to finally get away from Seps, but I don't understand how to get good lists with them. Looking to move away from that, I'm trying the following list to try and incorporate the new ships. Is this list completely trash? If so, please let me know. Are there any small tweeks anyone can suggest? Thanks! 14. Is it just me, or did that article seem pretty..... lifeless? Gotta be hard to write articles pretending you care about a game you just got fired from.
  15. I ordered mine through a shop on ebay and my ships are currently listed as "out for delivery" and presumably should be here in an hour or so
  16. And all products are listed as "not available" for purchase on FFGs site.
  17. They just took down the pdfs of the points from FFGs website.
  18. I truly do not understand why they have LOWERED THE PRICE OF REPUBLIC Y WINGS ONCE AGAIN
  19. Well, I was just informed that my preorder has shipped. So good news is that the change didn't change the distribution!
  20. as someone who's completely new to the world of miniature games..... this thread is all kinds of weird....
  21. Hello all, I've only just started playing this last year. In the past have there ever been "black friday" type deals where you can get x-wing stuff relatively cheap? I'm about to start a league with some friends and there's several new people who want to get into x-wing and I was hoping to point them in the direction of good deals to get started (no one wants to drop $100+ on a game they don't know if they'll like and in all likelihood won't be good at for a while....). Thanks!
