The main problem for me is that Discord isn't a forum. If you want to talk about the Clone Wars ships, great. Post in general and then stick around for however long it takes to get that conversation in. Don't have time to hang around? Well, you'll have to try and search for that conversation later, or just miss out. Want to find other conversations about things? Practically everything is in the general chat (or otherwise a rules discussion or off-topic). It's not an easy place to navigate to a particular subject for reading unless you either start up a conversation (and then stick around for it), or are decently adept at navigating Discord's bare-bones search ability. It's just not quite the same, and I liked keeping tabs on both Discord and the forums for different things.

THE MANDALORIAN, in a Civilized Age
Kirjath08 replied to Imperial Advisor Arem Heshvaun's topic in Star Wars: Legion
Pretty sure he actually said "apex predictor", which the Sarlacc would have to be if all it does is stay in one spot for its food and try not to be eaten by Krayt Dragons. -
What if General Weisz gains field commander?

Realism? In Star Wars? I believe Obi-Wan said it best: (To be taken as tongue-in-cheek) -
THE MANDALORIAN, in a Civilized Age
Kirjath08 replied to Imperial Advisor Arem Heshvaun's topic in Star Wars: Legion
I feel once again that I should point out the irony of someone with a Maul avatar saying these sorts of things about Boba Fett. That said, I think it's fine to like or not like a particular character. I don't tend to follow any stories about the OT crew either, and I don't feel any particular nostalgia seeing them pop up on screen. There's different parts of Star Wars available out there for everyone to enjoy. That said, I enjoyed seeing Boba again, even if I never particularly cared for the character. I thought he was a nice addition to the theme of the show, which is exploring Mandalorians and their culture as it has shown up in all forms of Star Wars media. I don't think they would've done the show justice without exploring the character who started all of that. And, like any of the other "cameos" the series has gotten, I doubt he'll stick around to season 3 (if there is one). -
I imagine they could pull something similar to Armada's take on the Super Star Destroyer. A slightly scaled down version that's mostly meant for games larger than the standard 400 points (or 800, in Legion's case).

I mean, what if it was a closed transport with Speeder that could move 2 units closer to the enemy without them being shot at? Suddenly you could load up some Fleet Troopers/Mandalorians and dump them on an enemy flank quite easily. Field Commander also seems likely, though I'm not sure the Rebels would want their Airspeeders or Landspeeders acting as a commander, so it'd probably be unique to the transport. The Imperial one might just be a generic though, to allow a good ol' AT-ST to stand in for them. This might just be the thing that gets the Rebels to play more of their Corps options, and wouldn't that be a good thing for list building? Heck, if this existed for the CIS, I'd load it up with B2s and just chuck it at the enemy.

I will also provide an anecdotal counter data point. CIS is currently the strongest faction in my local meta, and has been so since before the 'rona shut down the ongoing League games. In fact, the top two players in the League were both droid players and both undefeated (with games being cancelled before their scheduled match, which was sad to see). The scene was (and still is) largely Imperial and Rebel players, though the newer factions had a handful of players each. Mostly the players I've faced have been trying to figure out how to deal with how much health and firepower the droids can bring while simultaneously ignoring most suppression. If I see a player struggling while facing my droids, I try to work out a better solution with them (though usually after the game, since I also try to respect their playstyle). Usually it comes down to objectives and deployment rather than a single ability or turn changing the course of a game. This is just my own experience, for whatever that's worth.

It's enough to ignore a user if you don't want to read their posts, but you are not a moderator or the thread police. It's up to other users to decide whether or not they want to engage with someone. Constantly making the same post about a specific user is not making anything better, and could also be construed as harassment. Please stop.

What do you expect to come next for Republic and Separatist?
Kirjath08 replied to DakkaDakka12's topic in Star Wars: Legion
My guess would've been a flipped version of what was just released. CIS would get a new Commander and Republic would get a new Operative. There would also be a new set of special forces similar to Royal Guard and Wookiees. I would've put money on the new Commander/Operative combo being Asajj and Ahsoka too. Now that stuff is out of FFG's hands though, who knows what will be next. There's still no word about the new Imp/Rebel stuff that's coming next, and those tend to have a three month(ish) delay between announcement and release (as of the last few releases, anyways). -
Starting clones, and have a few questions.
Kirjath08 replied to DakkaDakka12's topic in Star Wars: Legion
First thing's first for clarification: what kind of competition are you facing? If you're on the hardcore Tabletop Simulator side, then meta answers are more appropriate. However, if you're just playing games with friends or at your local meta, you don't need to be so hardcore on your list design. It's ok to have less than 10 activations, but against meta lists you'll be at a disadvantage (usually). It's fine to run a full squad of arc troopers (and they'll perform quite well), but taking strikes lets you free up more points for more activations or upgrades. Also, strike teams cannot be taken without a Heavy Weapon upgrade, so be sure to factor that cost in when you're fielding them. As to your last point, Phase I's are quite a bit cheaper than Phase II's, to the point where you could actually field a heavy and a personnel upgrade in the Phase I at the same cost as a Phase II with just the heavy. The Phase I's are inferior to Phase II's, but the reduced point cost allows you greater list flexibility. If you're just buying in on Clones, there's also some great videos on which expansions to pick up and how they might function. One of which was just recently uploaded after the most recent rules changes: -
It's also making me fairly certain that two of the four "new" units that are supposed to be for the GCW factions are probably heavies. I don't have anything really to base that off of, but it feels like they're going to get Lando/Kallus and a new heavy option (that will come with a Field Commander). This would all still be quite a few months out, but this is my current hunch.
-
I actually don't mind as much that the tank lacks a bounty. I'm not sure I'd ever send Cad Bane tank hunting just for one victory point, I don't think he's really suited for that. Can't speak on the Imperial bounty hunters though.
-
They don't change their order token, so she'd still be a Heavy unit and can't have a bounty placed on her. I kinda wish Lok Durd had Field Commander as well.

A Tabletop Admiral survey of some kind...
Kirjath08 replied to werdnaegni's topic in Star Wars: Legion
Any thoughts on adding Armada into the list builder? Other than that, I use Tabletop Admiral over the others because of the simple and clean ui. Easy enough to add and remove stuff, though I do wish it felt less cluttered while I'm using my phone (the most common device I have on the go for list building). Mostly, I wish it was easier to see how many points you have already spent out of your 800 without having to constantly scroll down (and I realize that the bar remains static, though it'll disappear every time I scroll back up to look at things, I guess this is intentional). -
@gribble I'll chip in from a CIS view as well. You get (with two starters) four B1 droids and two Droidekas. All of those are decent choices for any list. B1 Battle Droids will never be a "bad" option. They are one of the most efficient corps available to any faction, despite their terrible, terrible stats. They handle a lot, and I routinely field 5-6 of them. They can't hit the side of a bantha, but they still have to be killed or else they'll generally muck up your opponent's plans. And there's nothing worse for an opponent than having to spend an entire activation killing 1-2 of those droids just to keep them off an objective; it usually amounts to a lot of wasted shots. B2 droids don't really "replace" my B1's at any point, they're just a different option. They're a little more situational, and I only take them if I feel like I need a corps unit that has more punch (or it's a skirmish game, B2's love skirmish games). I will routinely take B2's if I feel like I need to take some threat away from my other key pieces, otherwise B1's almost always get the job done just fine (and they can Coordinate, which is huge). As for Droidekas, now that they're 80 points I can see them being included fairly often in my army. They're quite a bit more durable than STAPs at the cost of efficiency (and 7 points), so once again you pick one to suit your needs. The CIS is generally a pretty well balanced faction, with different units providing different tools for each given situation. If I want to field objectives that would benefit from more of an emplacement unit (like Key Positions), I'll take Droidekas. If I'm gunning for Bombing Run, I'll take STAPs. There's no practical downside to having more than one unit of Droideka either, since the best luck I've had is to run them in pairs. Even on objectives like Payload, you'll find Droidekas to be pretty useful. That's just my opinion though. As it is now, my CIS collection is large enough that most units are "bring it off the shelf occasionally", since I can't field everything all the time and I like mixing things up every game. I love the AAT to bits, but I don't field it in most of my games. The only things I have that sees use literally every game are the B1's.
-
They have to have the "Field Commander" keyword, so upgrades like the T-Series for the AAT, or Aayla Secura for the Saber Tank.
-
Yep. Things like a T-series in an AAT have really opened up list building for the CIS (giving you a commander almost as tough as Grievous but who can't panic), not to mention the other factions.
-
If you're strictly collecting only one faction and have no way to trade off the excess, then yes the starter box is less relevant. But if you're in any situation where you can either split the box with a friend/someone else or are planning on picking up both the factions in the box anyways, the starter box is the best possible value. For basically $50, you get a commander, two corps, and a support along with all the tokens/dice/barricades/measuring tools/etc. The money spent on buying all that separately is always much greater. Also, as the RRG update today just showed, it's not like units will always be out of favor compared to others. Droidekas just got a serious point decrease, Speeder is now a much more flexible keyword, and much more. So I would say the starter sets are still a good place to start, and cheaper than the alternative unless you only want one faction and have no one to trade/split the cost with.

Star Wars Miniatures moving to Atomic Mass Games
Kirjath08 replied to Kirjath08's topic in Star Wars: Legion
I know this is a sticking point for you as you've been very vocal about it in the past, but all of that wouldn't feel like Star Wars to me. I think it would lose the theme entirely. At that scale, the characters become less and less important, and then you're just playing a less interesting Bolt Action or 40k (both of which have a theme that works much better as far as war goes). You'd probably have to scale the models down to the point where it'd hurt the hobbyists as well if you wanted an actual "legion" of miniatures. And personally, I like not having to buy anywhere near as much as I would have to for a Games Workshop type of debacle. That means I can put funds into other games, like Armada or even actual board games. I understand where you're coming from, I just disagree with the sentiment completely. I've played Star Wars board games including Imperial Assault, the difference is apparent. I'm sorry you don't feel the same way, and I honestly wouldn't bet on the new company rewriting the rules for how the game works to this degree. Even in X-Wing 2.0 you didn't have to buy all your models all over again, which this sort of change would necessitate in Legion. EDIT: That said, the Atomic press release noted that they have ideas for more miniature games moving forward, so it's not out of the realm of possibility you'll eventually get that massive army Star Wars game with At-ATs walking around and blasting whole armies to pieces. I just sincerely doubt that Legion is the vehicle for that sort of game. -
Or, since it's a proper noun, perhaps it's pronounced "Av-ra", with the ph as in "Stephen". Or maybe it's a compound word, like "uphold", or "uphill". (I'm kidding, but English is funny like that. Thankfully it wasn't a gh, or the debate would never end.)
-
Not sure what exactly that will mean, but a number of users speculated that a restructuring was taking place. https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/news/2020/11/16/an-important-star-wars-announcement/

If it's anything like the card pack that was released with Legion when they did their Clone Wars expansions, one should be enough for one player. Two players would probably need two packs.

Well, B2s were back for about five minutes there...
Kirjath08 replied to Billion Year Old Carbon's topic in Star Wars: Legion
Looks like Phase II's are back in stock now as well, however briefly. -
Well I'll be darned. Thought it was only on actions.
