Cerebrawl replied to Imperial Advisor Arem Heshvaun's topic in X-Wing
Oh hey Fractalsponge, I recognize that name. Art was stolen from him for official Disney stuff. Also one of his designs got stolen and then altered a bit and used in a movie for some Star Destroyer variant. EDIT: Oh and that's just the tip of the iceberg, his stuff has been stolen quite a few times, for official stuff, and at least 3 of his original ship designs have become canon. -

It most definitely was. -
Nah, flooding is just something that happens regionally in many places, at different times. The biblical flood is a 2nd retelling of the story of Prince Ziusudra, who commandeered a barge and put his valuables in it when the Euphrates river rose 30 feet over the levies in a massive flood, and he rode the floodwaters into the persian gulf, and ran aground on a sandbank. Afterwards he made a sacrifice at a hilltop temple to the gods An and Enlil for his fortune in surviving. The first retelling of this story is in the Epic of Gilgamesh. That's a flood we know happened btw, circa 2800-2900 BC. We have the geological/archeological evidence for it, and have dated it with radio isotopes. As for Ziusudra himself, he's listed in the Sumerian king's list(but he was not yet king at the time of the flood).

Republic Strategy for New Players on a budget

With the obvious exception of Ric, who can get a 3rd red dice conditionally(and a 4th at range 1). -
Republic Strategy for New Players on a budget
Cerebrawl replied to Makikis's topic in X-Wing Squad Lists
Not just ok, better. It's the state of the game, more points spent on chassis and less on upgrades is better. There's a few examples where tossing a huge pile of upgrade points on a ship can be good, but this is generally on pilots like Boba, who can "points fortress", survive the match and not give points, or only give half. It's particularly good if saving points on upgrades lets you bring another ship, but even just going for better pilots is good. Swarm is good, but fewer good pilots is also good. Aces are probably still stronger than swarms. They want a few upgrades, but don't go overboard, especially as they want a bid for the ace vs ace matchup. -

I like neither expert handling nor stealth device on the ARC, especially stealth device, you're 100% better off with a shield upgrade. I'd say you're much better off just bringing Wolffe without upgrades, or even Oddball with Predator(if you're playing extended). -

Assuming your family member doesn't mind you proxying an upgrade card(wolfpack) you could play this without purchasing any more models: 104th Battalion Pilot (42) Wolfpack (4) Synchronized Console (1) Ship total: 47 Half Points: 24 Threshold: 5 Gold Squadron Trooper (25) Cluster Missiles (4) Synchronized Console (1) Ship total: 30 Half Points: 15 Threshold: 3 Gold Squadron Trooper (25) Cluster Missiles (4) Synchronized Console (1) Ship total: 30 Half Points: 15 Threshold: 3 Obi-Wan Kenobi (49) Calibrated Laser Targeting (4) Ship total: 53 Half Points: 27 Threshold: 2 Jedi Knight (37) Calibrated Laser Targeting (2) Ship total: 39 Half Points: 20 Threshold: 2 Total: 199 Wolfpack lets you get locks with your jousty torrents and ARC, and synchronized console lets you spread the locks around to make sure you get your ordnance shots off. Obi is a great pocket ace, and the jedi knight is either a pocket ace against low initiative, or if out-initiatived: one of the best blockers in the game. -
They might just be balanced, so that's good. So many think that if something isn't undercosted it's actually bad. They're probably just falling victims to the remaining actually undercosted stuff. Also the death of the regen jedi archetype is most definitely a good thing.

Inb4 sky is falling posts. But honestly, that's interesting, there's a lot of potential, good and bad, in this move, so I guess it's a definite wait and see. If nothing else we should see some new ideas from the design team. PS: Is this forum going byebye?

I think many republic players are multi-faction players and something else was much more interesting to play right now.

The problem with your stats is that 3 agility aces and 3 agility mid-range ships, and 3 agility swarms are all counted the same, and a 5+ ship list could be Ace+swarmlet, 2 Aces + TIE escort, 5A, etc.
-
I've flown him, when I have he's been more area denial than anything. Forced Imperial aces to disengage rather than be shot by 5 dice, that APT is a great forcing tool even if you never get the shot. But with ion, or against lower initiative, he can be a true menace.

I do like the idea of a complimentary upgrade budget, which varies from ship to ship. It would make ordnance carriers more useable, for example, as you don't have to worry about room for ordnance vs break point. Make Y-wings cost 40 points but have 12 points of complimentary upgrade budget? You won't be seeing the 7 ships with 8 hp each list, but they'll still be quite useable in their canon role. Likewise ships with very limited upgrade choices could remain the same, or have a minor price bump. Like Fangs might go up 2 points and get a 2 point upgrade budget. Same with the scyk, 3 points up and budget. The big head scratcher is what to do with ships like the Kihraxz. Tons of slots, rarely used. Push them up 7 points and give them a 10 point budget? Would anyone play 45 point Kihraxz with say DMS, CC, and Shield upgrade? Some of the "it's cheap trash, why bother with upgrades?" ships could also benefit, maybe even without a point hike. Give Z-95s 3 points budget, without a price hike? Let them take ion missiles for free, or pay a point or two for something better?

Raider is excessive, but even the humble C-ROC is a nightmare at 200 pts. 58 point buy in, for 16 health, with regen... and double actions. Toss on a team and a hardpoint and it's still quite cheap. IG-88D for scum too, for the double calculates on the linked actions. Something like this for example: Syndicate Smugglers (58) Ion Cannon Battery (5) IG-88D (3) Comms Team (8) Optimized Power Core (6) Ship total: 80 Half Points: 40 Threshold: 8 Regen 2 energy per turn as long as you're flying blue, take reinforce and coordinate>double calc. Coordinate up to 3 ships(2 sustainably, 3 in burst, or 3 sustainably if you don't shoot the ion) at i7. Shoot 4 dice ion attack that deals a crit and definitely pushes ion tokens if it hits. The other alternative is focus more on the output of the C-ROC, take damage control team, so you can reinforce>double calc, and take a lock. The REALLY silly thing to do is take both those configs(-IG-88D on one), and still have 48 points for a third ship, I'd recommend a StarViper. Coordinate the BR>focus at i7 for the i3 StarViper? Sounds good.

Yeah, generics are in a decent place right now, not all of them, but they're not meta dominating either. Only dominating generics were early Phantoms, and summer point bugs.
-
Sensor slot(military grade sensors), turret slot(ion cannon turret), cannon slot(tractor beam projector), and rear facing torp launcher. 2 primary maybe?(2 blaster cannons). Also heavy shields, and good engines, so good dial? Seems fun. Also this is an older, more experienced Boba, so i6?
-
So... that was during 6x bugs meta, right? Doesn't really prove much except they got wrecked by bugs.

That's not a swarm, that's an ace+swarmlet, this is a swarm: Jakku Gunrunner (29) Ship total: 29 Half Points: 15 Threshold: 3 Jakku Gunrunner (29) Ship total: 29 Half Points: 15 Threshold: 3 Cartel Spacer (25) Ion Cannon (6) Ship total: 31 Half Points: 16 Threshold: 2 Cartel Spacer (25) Ion Cannon (6) Ship total: 31 Half Points: 16 Threshold: 2 Sunny Bounder (27) Autoblasters (3) Ship total: 30 Half Points: 15 Threshold: 2 Cartel Spacer (25) Jamming Beam (0) Ship total: 25 Half Points: 13 Threshold: 2 Cartel Spacer (25) Jamming Beam (0) Ship total: 25 Half Points: 13 Threshold: 2 Total: 200 There's also the 7 ship list with a zealous recruit, 3 tractor scyks and 3 nekkid/jamming beam scyks, or the 2 zealous, 2 ion, 2 tractor list. There was even an 8 ship list with a zealous, 2 tractor scyks, 1 nekkid/jamming, 3 MG TIES, and autopilot drone.

I mean local metas can vary wildly. My regular playing partners (before Corona) are Empire/FO, and Empire/FO/Scum, and sometimes a Resistance player. I know there's a Republic player but haven't played him, he seems mostly retired from the game, and there was a new player going Rebels right before Corona... Only one I've played after Corona is the Empire/FO player. If I branch to CIS, I'll be the first local player to play them, there are no bugs in my local meta.

So RZ1s?(but with optics analogue) Honestly though they look like a very fun ship to fly, makes me want to branch out into Republic if they're decently costed...(under 30, guessing they'll be about 28 +/-1, and configs 1-3 points, with "Besh" costing more than "Esk"). I guess the bomb config would make them more RZ2 like, in that they can do something while whizzing past.
-
While you're at it, do you also want to destroy/ban Moff JerJerod, Leia Crew(both), Seasoned Navigator, Kaydel Connix, the TIE Phantom chassi, Count Dooku, Deathrain, Precognitive Reflexes, Supernatural Reflexes, Advanced Sensors, R2-A6, BB, BB-8, Rebel Sabine Wren pilot(both ships), already mentioned Hera, Reapers, and Strikers? If not, why not?
-
With all that he could go down 10 points, and slave 1 could go back to 2 points.

Scummy wishlist: IG88s down more. Give me some room. Kimogilas down, Kihraxz down. All of them, even the generics. I don't think 5x Cartel Executioner would even be that oppressive, sure it's 45 hp, but agi 1, and crit sensitive, they tend to melt. Just like 5 X-wings didn't break the game, I don't think 5 Kimogilas would, no more than 5 TIE/rb do. Also they're awkward to fly in numbers. Make them an even 40. M3-A down except for spacers(fine at 25), especially the Tansarii, as the upgrade from spacer isn't really worth the 4 points(the normal interval for this is 2 for most other ships), though I do love the AB+MMS swarm thing, it's still a bit overpriced. I4 StarVipers down about 2-3 points. Lancer down. Would love a tech slot, and/or gunner. YV-666 down, especially named pilots. Named MG TIEs and Z-95s down, a lot. Like 3 points, Proach and N'dru down 4. Even Seevor could go down 1. I'd even lower the Z-95 generics more, 1 pt, MG TIE generics are fine. Joy Rekoff and Kad Solus down 4 points each. Y-wings down 2 points? Seems crazy that we're paying more for ours than Republic for theirs. Scum Falcon could do with a mixup that's not just points changes. I'd really like to see something like a cannon or tech slot. Second illicit slot. Firesprays that aren't Boba down. Especially Kath and Krassix, they rarely see play. More illicit slots. No scum ship should be without one. In fact most of ImperialAce95's points are good. Definitely agree on Havok 0 pts, sidegrade title that only affects slots shouldn't cost anything. Off faction: Throw rebel beef a bone, most factions can do rebel beef better than the rebels can at this point. Also A-wing generics down 2. Resistance A-wings up a little bit, and X-wings down by about the same. 1 point for generics, 2 for named? Maybe lower Non-rey falcons, couches, and the starfortresses slightly?(except generic couch). Rey up a little. I still want to see Nantex generics up 1 more. Ensnare can come down a little. Lower cost for the Onderon and Geonosan. Empire, uhm, Baron up 1, 5th Brother up 1. Sloane up 2. Non-vader x1 down. FO... oopsilon down? Phasma down, Malarus up, Terex crew up. Republic... Wolfpack up to double, Ahsoka crew down? Faction mostly seems fine.

Not preordering but I'll be getting Jango... for the Scum stuff. I guess that might be my first step towards branching out to CIS. It'll also be my third firespray... Triple spray is playable, I guess. If I do branch out CIS and Republic are definitely top of the list. LAAT, ARC and V-wings. Frisbees and triangles... looks fun.
