  1. I think the most efficient way to use Yoda is in fact the pilot. It has extended range, more trigger opportunities, 1 more charge, the ETA is easier to hide than a LAAT, you can carry patience for extra force and it all comes much cheaper than Yoda crew on either a LAAT or an ARC. Here's my list: Yoda Aces V001 (49) Obi-Wan Kenobi [Delta-7 Aethersprite] (2) R4 Astromech (20) Delta-7B Points: 71 (51) Aayla Secura [Eta-2 Actis] (6) R2-A6 (5) Sense (8) Stealth Device (2) Predator Points: 72 (48) Yoda [Eta-2 Actis] (2) Patience Points: 50 Total points: 193
  2. The HMP is, in essence, a dorsal turret Y-wing with access to rerolls. His roll is to be beef and good arc coverage. If you decide to load it with upgrades, they can be pretty decent munition carriers.
  3. The new wave has brought about a lot of great list-building possibilities for the Republic, mostly due to the new ETA. One of those that I haven't seen explored as much is the use of support cannons (tractor and ion) to help CLT Jedi line up their bullseyes. For that reason, i made a list comprised mostly of i4 Jedi that either punch really hard or help others punch really hard. There's also a force sub-theme to this list, seeing as we have 4 force users, 3 of which have great abilities and the 4th amplifying those abilities. Here's the list: Yoda (48) Patience (2) Ion Cannon (6) Ship total: 56 Half Points: 28 Threshold: 2 Shaak Ti (44) Predator (2) Tractor Beam (4) Ship total: 50 Half Points: 25 Threshold: 2 Luminara Unduli (42) R4 Astromech (2) Calibrated Laser Targeting (3) Ship total: 47 Half Points: 24 Threshold: 2 Saesee Tiin (42) R4 Astromech (2) Calibrated Laser Targeting (3) Ship total: 47 Half Points: 24 Threshold: 2 Total: 200 List breakdown: the idea is to use Shaak Ti's tractor beam to line up bullseyes for clt during the engagement and reduce the defense of the opponent, and use Yoda's ion cannon to setup bullseyes for the next turn. Shaak Ti also has predator because predator ETA is slightly better than clt jedi in terms of expected damage with a single focus token, so she can also be a heavy hitter with little cost. Yoda carries patience because his force points are the most valuable, since they can be used for any ability in the list. For the Delta 7s, CLT is pretty obvious. R4 is also great value on a ship with 4 distinct red maneuvers, and it also makes Saesee's ability a lot more flexible. Opted out of putting those in the ETAs because they rarely ever get stressed, and 2 points is too much just to improve Saesee's ability slightly. What are your thoughts? What would you change? Would you fly this list casually/competitively?
  4. Yeah i don't think we should look at the pieces individually, but instead evaluate the whole list. I'd probably start with 3 knights, and if they were decent, switch the 3rd one for those named jedi we've been talking about. For Actis lists, i still don't like stealth device, but i've noticed that if you keep every ship naked, you can replace 2 of the generals for Obi and Ani and still give them both patience to use with Hound. Might be worth giving it a shot. "Hound" (50) Ship total: 50 Half Points: 25 Threshold: 5 Anakin Skywalker (Eta-2) (56) Patience (2) Ship total: 58 Half Points: 29 Threshold: 2 Obi-Wan Kenobi (Eta-2) (49) Patience (2) Ship total: 51 Half Points: 26 Threshold: 2 Jedi General (41) Ship total: 41 Half Points: 21 Threshold: 2 Total: 200
  5. Yeah, i was being needlessly harsh, sorry Cpt ObVus. But i do agree with what you said here. I think it's really important to reinforce the idea that FC has the same value, wether it's range 3 obstructed or range 1 bullseye. This means that you should take advantage of your side arc to skirt around the engagement area, preferably behind obstacles (especially if you are hound with needy patient jedi). However, i expect my opponent to chase after my LAAT if he wants to, and i think any good list should make sure that there are no obvious targets for the opponent (this is also why i think LAAT Aces and Tavson Aces lists have been struggling so much), especially when they all give (about) the same points.
  6. Easier said than done. You have to give your opponent some credit! The LAAT has one of the worst dials in the game and only 1 agility! If your opponent wants to shoot it down, you can't stop it
  7. You can arcdodge with a LAAT? Teach me please I know how Shaak Ti works. Like i said, reverse alpha strike. Hard to make it last very long. And you may carry your evade to the next turn, but nothing stops your opponent from just shooting the LAAT and leaving your tokens unspent
  8. That's more or less what I was trying to say (maybe not very well). The ETA requires a certain patience (heh) and finesse that a LAAT list just can't afford. Once you put a LAAT on the table, you're going to get a joust, and the ETA don't want that. This is not to say that the Knight is perfect. I don't really fancy paying for 5th bro on every generic knife fighter I play, but that's as close as you get to an X-wing in the Republic. The Arcs are too far with the LAAT, and you can only fit 3 anyway. Sync console + missile torrents aren't quite there yet either, I feel.
  9. I just feel stupid for taking evade actions with my 3 agi ships when the opponent can just chase down my 50 point 1 agility ship. But maybe you don't. I just think that the LAAT doesn't gel with 3 Jedi Generals. Double Jedi Ace + LAAT? Love those lists, but this isn't it. In most cases, we're not avoiding arcs, we're trying to push as much damage as we can, and i think that 7B accomplishes that much better than the General can. For the record, i'm not opposed to using Shaak Ti with 7B (or any other named Jedi over the 3rd Knight) but she kinda works like a reverse alpha-strike, being very protective on the 1st engagement. Remember that the generic general gets 1 force per turn, and he has to choose between using it for IC, Talon-rolling, modding defense and modding offense. Shaak Ti offers a 5th option, but still only gets 1 per turn (2 if you count Hound + patience). You should probably temper your expectations. On a side note, i've been looking for a good comparison for the 7B Knight and i think i found it: Black Sun Ace (Kihraxz) costs 38 points. For 11 more points, the Knight gets slightly better stats, a slightly better dial and an integrated fifth brother (currently costing 12 points) with the bonus of FTC.
  10. Here's the issue with Stealth Device Generals: If you want to preserve the Device (which you DO, becuase it cost you 8 points) then you will be taking an evade action. You will also have to utilize your force to defend, because with just an evade there's roughly a 60% chance you lose it to a couple of focused t-65s. Now, let's say you're lucky and only have to spend 1 force to defend. Do you spend the other to line up the bullseye with IC (remember, you spent your action evading) or do you mod offense? The part where you talk about vultures and tie fighters makes me think you didn't understand what i tried to explain with the spamtex. The advantage of these ships is NUMBERS, and 3 Generals can't compare. The typical tie swarm has SIX tie fighters, half of which have 3 attack die and all of them have focus + 1 reroll, the typical vulture swarm has SEVEN vultures + some other threat, and all the droids can share calculates. Spamtex also has SIX bullseye arcs, which is DOUBLE the bullseyes you have on this list. Remember, getting bullseye shots is as much your reponsibility as your opponent's. But here is the BIGGEST reason why i don't think Generals work well with this list idea: you may have 4 die + 2 force + 1 evade on your jedi, but what about the LAAT? It has only 1 agility and is slow as ****, so what stops your opponent from just ignoring your tokened up jedi and focusing down your LAAT? But yeah, i agree, 2 force is better than 1.
  11. For starters, double the health. But most importantly I think, it's the consistent 3 die primary. You can't really have a list based around 3 mid initiative bullseye based pilots, that can't deal damage outside that bullseye. The reason why Nantex spam was so dominant was because there was 6 of them. 3 Jedi General will not push enough damage. Also, Knights have a tremendous advantage against Swarms because of FTC, which Generals don't have. The extra force charge doesn't mean that much when both of them regen 1 per turn. Also, don't run stealth device on a non-Aayla list, it's just not worth it
  12. This idea is really interesting, as some of the Jedi are really good at supporting the Knights. So maybe instead of 3 Knights + LAAT, we should aim for 2 Knights + Support Jedi + LAAT. Personally, i like Aayla more than Shaakti, because she has higher initiative and her ability combos really well with the Knights, who will often have force + focus. This is what i would fly: Aayla Secura (51) Brilliant Evasion (2) Ship total: 53 Half Points: 27 Threshold: 2 212th Battalion Pilot (49) Ship total: 49 Half Points: 25 Threshold: 5 Jedi Knight (37) Delta-7B (12) Ship total: 49 Half Points: 25 Threshold: 3 Jedi Knight (37) Delta-7B (12) Ship total: 49 Half Points: 25 Threshold: 3 Total: 200
  13. I think extra rerolls are not worth it when you're already using a LAAT with 3 other ships, and the shield/hull upgrade atleast lets you jump over the halfpoint threshold on the LAAT. Tried to search for better upgrades, but nothing seemed better. Maybe someone else finds something that's worth it.
  14. Was watching Hexiled stream the other day and realized that this is now possible: 212th Battalion Pilot (49) Shield Upgrade (4) Ship total: 53 Half Points: 27 Threshold: 6 Jedi Knight (37) Delta-7B (12) Ship total: 49 Half Points: 25 Threshold: 3 Jedi Knight (37) Delta-7B (12) Ship total: 49 Half Points: 25 Threshold: 3 Jedi Knight (37) Delta-7B (12) Ship total: 49 Half Points: 25 Threshold: 3 Total: 200 Seems very simple, but quite fun! The Knights can cover a lot of ground due to FTC, the LAAT helps them punch harder and every ship is fairly beefy so I don't think it's particularly weak to anything and might be a good flexible list
  15. I had created a topic some time ago on this idea aswell. Take R2-A6 on Aayla! (And predator too) She really benefits from it because it helps her control range and at the same time helps her line up her bullseye. Predator is too cheap not to be taken in these types of efficiency lists. Definetely agree with CLT Obi, combos really well with Aayla's ability. I prefer Contrail naked, because he is too obvious as a first target, so he prefers to take focus over TL and you don't want to give away free points. Ric is a coin toss between upgrades and naked, but i like bids so i keep him naked aswell. This is what i would fly: Aayla Secura (51) Predator (2) R2-A6 (6) Ship total: 59 Half Points: 30 Threshold: 2 Obi-Wan Kenobi (49) Calibrated Laser Targeting (4) Ship total: 53 Half Points: 27 Threshold: 2 Ric Olié (45) Ship total: 45 Half Points: 23 Threshold: 3 "Contrail" (33) Ship total: 33 Half Points: 17 Threshold: 2 Total: 190 Here's the link to my thread if you want to read my thoughts on each pilot:

False, Anakin did not have autoblasters, but otherwise correct
  17. Does this need to be a 3 Jedi list, or just an ace list with Jedi? Because to be honest, I don't think bringing 3 Jedi is a very good idea. Usually 3 ace lists have a more jousty ace (Vader, Whisper, Nien, Luke, Bobba, etc.) Who can draw attention away from your more fragile aces while not completely folding over to concentrated fire due to good defensive mods. In the Republic's case, this is usually Ric, who gets 3 agility and an evade token in defense for the first round while also having 5 hp. I've actually been working on a triple ace list, so might as well share: Triple Aces V001 (51) Aayla Secura [Eta-2 Actis] (6) R2-A6 (8) Stealth Device (2) Predator Points: 67 (49) Obi-Wan Kenobi [Delta-7 Aethersprite] (5) R4-P17 (4) Calibrated Laser Targeting (5) Sense Points: 63 (45) Ric Olié [Naboo Royal N-1 Starfighter] (3) R3 Astromech (2) Fire-Control System (12) Proton Torpedoes Points: 62 Total points: 192 I think all around this is a more solid list, and the jedi are still the stars of the show
  18. I think there's a lot of great ideas here! If you think you're struggling to have both arc on the enemy and on your ships with Hound, why not pick a more agressive Jedi like Aayla? This will mkae it a whole lot more consistent. If you choose Aayla, then i would pair it with CLT Obi, since i think he has the most synergy with her. Aayla Secura (51) Patience (2) Predator (2) Ion Cannon (6) R2-A6 (6) Stealth Device (8) Ship total: 75 Half Points: 38 Threshold: 2 Obi-Wan Kenobi (49) Patience (2) Calibrated Laser Targeting (4) Ship total: 55 Half Points: 28 Threshold: 2 "Hound" (50) Seventh Fleet Gunner (9) Ship total: 59 Half Points: 30 Threshold: 5 Total: 189
  19. Don't forget that you're not forced to bring things closer to you. Tractor's there to nerf the opponent's agility
  20. That's the thing, ETA can be support and ace at the same time because they are very flexible point-wise. This is one of the builds that leans LESS into the ace aspect, but predator is already enough to make it threatening. As for the fragility of the ETA, Obi can take both focus and evade the same turn, so he can handle himself.
  21. For Republic, I think that Tractor ETA with a mini swarm will be a staple for hyperspace, due to having so many possible variations Take this list for example: Tractor Obi + Warthog's Heavies (49) Obi-Wan Kenobi [Eta-2 Actis] (4) Tractor Beam (2) Predator Points: 55 (54) "Warthog" [Laat/i Gunship] Points: 54 (42) 104th Battalion Pilot [ARC-170 Starfighter] Points: 42 (42) 104th Battalion Pilot [ARC-170 Starfighter] Points: 42 Total points: 193 You could replace warthog with the 3rd arc and upgrade your Jedi, or you could just go with Vs instead of arcs for more guns.
  22. How about this? Jake Farrell (34) XX-23 S-Thread Tracers (2) Ship total: 36 Half Points: 18 Threshold: 2 Red Squadron Veteran (40) Servomotor S-Foils (0) Ship total: 40 Half Points: 20 Threshold: 3 Red Squadron Veteran (40) Servomotor S-Foils (0) Ship total: 40 Half Points: 20 Threshold: 3 Red Squadron Veteran (40) Servomotor S-Foils (0) Ship total: 40 Half Points: 20 Threshold: 3 Red Squadron Veteran (40) Servomotor S-Foils (0) Ship total: 40 Half Points: 20 Threshold: 3 Total: 196
  23. Maybe I didn't express myself very well. What i meant was, i think that good a change would be limiting options INSIDE of an archetype, so that people build that archetype differently (without Soontir) but still get to play the archetype THEY WANT. On the other hand, what we got was a change that FORCED us to play an archetype if we can only play one faction, and very soon people will realize that choosing between generic x1s, v1s, interceptors or striker is not very interesting and comes mostly down to efficiency more than anything else. It SEEMS that there is more diversity, but instead people will be optimizing the SAME playstyle, leading them to the SAME conclusions, which is not succesful in terms of diversity. I originally felt like this applied mostly to empire, but thinking on it more i realized that if people want to take, say, an x-wing, they will mostly just take that best pilot. Choosing between pilots of different platforms was always a lot more interesting, because it is much easier to determine which pilot is better if their platforms are the same. Example: nobody is picking Jek Porkins over Garven Dreis, but if the choice was between Garven Dreis and Dutch Vander, there would be a lot more of "player agency" involved
  24. It's not about balance, it's about not being forced into certain decisions. Last Hyperspace you atleast had the choice of going Duchess instead of the Extended Soontir, even if it didn't perform well. Now you just don't get a choice. And i think it's fine for most factions, but it looks particularly egregious on the empire.
  25. I don't hate these changes, but can't say i'm a fan either. The reductionism is a bit too much in some cases. Empire for example, is super limited to generic spam playstyles. Players who generally like ace or 4 good pilots will be forced to play something else on empire, play a different faction or just not play Hyperspace. I get that this was an attempt at diversity, but instead of limiting options inside of archetypes with tried and true paths, we just got half the archetypes snapped out of existence. This feels very sloppy to me, and very very non-consumer friendly
