  1. Absolutely. It’s like attending a Food Tasting Event via Zoom!
  2. No. It’s on the News page in the Arkham Nights line up. Just that it’s postponed and stay tuned for the new date and time.
  3. The thing I was most looking forward to was the making the card. They just posted that the twitch broadcast for today has been postponed.
  4. I’ve never had the pleasure. This was the year we were finally going to go! I assume that with it being free and to the masses, it is a pretty watered down version. Hopefully today’s twitch broadcast will be fun.
  5. 1. Carcosa: Luke is great in that Campaign. Patrice is great in everything. Sefina is also solid in Carcosa. 2. The Forgotten Age: We have played it probably 4 times and with all the investigators we played, the standout power duo was William and Agnes. (William and Boxing Gloves is pretty strong. There are a lot of Survivor spirit cards) We just finished playing the mini 4 scenario Dreamers Campaign. Because we hadn’t tried them yet, we played Winnie and Stella, with a couple of deck tweaks. Stella with Drawing Thin and Try and Try Again was pretty very fun.
  6. Anyone know when or where the unlocked print and play is going to be?
  7. A couple of questions. If we haven’t participated in the Organized Play, are we still able to receive the unlocked play and share? What do we have to do to be involved in helping come up with a card idea? Is there someway to submit ideas, or how does that work?
  8. You are doing it right! You keep Allies or whatever other things you may collect, throughout the campaign unless otherwise instructed. They get treated like any other Ally or player card unless there is some sort of stipulation made. I’m playing Stella right now for the first time and let me tell you, Drawing Thin and Try and Try Again(3) are amazing with her. Her Neither Rain or Snow can have multiple uses. We used those cards with Rain or Snow in back to back Mythos phases for different investigators, since it doesn’t stipulate that the test has to be yours. Both tests were super high against the weakest ability to start with. Drawing Thin mitigates the +3 to a +1, (and gives her 2 resources or a card), I had Granny Orne too so that could bring it back to 0 if needed. In this case, failing meant taking 2 damage and losing 1 action in one case and discarding your highest cost asset in the other, but failing with Rain or Snow that effect gets cancelled so no harm no foul. Try and Try Again puts Neither Rain or Snow back in her hand, and she isn’t even done reaping the rewards of the failed test. Now she now has an extra action during her turn to boot. Yep, all in a days work for a humble civil servant! I think I got at 6-7 uses out of her 3 Neither Rain or Snows and 3-4 times they cancelled some pretty bad stuff during Mythos and at Locations, while giving her an extra action and getting it right back in her hand. Not to mention the resource and card boost from Drawing Thin. If you haven’t tried this combo with Drawing Thin to raise the test to help you fail, and Try and Try Again to get her signature or any other skill card back, check it out. She is excels at making lemons into lemonade! Of course as with all things, they need to be out and in play for the magic to happen. Those two cards are what I mulligan hard for with her.
  9. You guys did great! We were defeated in Midnight Masks the first time through. Umôrdoth didn’t even have a chance to take a swipe at us. It took us a while to figure out the how to determine “economy of action.” For example, sometimes it is more economical to evade an enemy instead of trying to defeat it, so you can continue doing what you came for. Like interest on credit cards, the Agenda deck never sleeps! One tip is to mulligan hard in your opening hand for assets, because the first round is usually pretty free of distractions and you can play them and get yourself prepared.
  10. We have the whole collection and have tried a few different storage options as our collection has expanded. Our second core set box holds all of the Expansion scenario guide/booklet and the Rules Reference. The Return To boxes store their campaigns. The 500 ct. BCW boxes will hold a whole campaign (sans player cards) and encounter sets including the 6 Mythos pack instructions. (Dream Eaters is pictured) The Return to Night of the Zealot box holds NotZ and another full campaign with the 6 Mythos instructions. (Pictured with TFA) We had TFA stored there until it’s Return To released and are storing Innsmouth in it now. Our player card storage kept outgrowing our solutions. We have finally settled on long clear plastic boxes with a hinged lid that are about the same size as a Return To box. One for each class, one for neautral cards and investigators, and one for Standalones. We bought cheap deck boxes to store the pre-built investigators and their decks, so we can keep them prebuilt for friends (or us), but also have them with the player cards for access if we want to use them in other decks. They also double as a way to hold up the player cards, since the boxes are still kind of too big (for now)!
  11. Same! I’m very much looking forward to Outer Gods. I hope it scales to a small group as well as Blob does. Ah, Guardians! It’s such a classic Lovecraftian storyline. It’s got so many cool elements. A little Forgotten Age, with an exploration deck, some cultists, interesting Egyptian locations, both in Cairo and beyond, Cultists stalking your every move, some alarming ancient Egyptian undead unexpectedly popping up, a good solid level of difficulty and of course, doing it all while racing against the clock. I can’t wait for Monterey Jack to finally be released, because this feels like his Standalone! Excelsior feels a like a Hitchcock movie to me. A little “Film Noir”, with those unexpected twists.
  12. The ritual asset Obfuscation is fantastic for Trish. If she is engaged with an enemy, she can investigate, cancel the AoO and still evade the enemy with one action. With the above example, Investigator abilities sometimes circumvent the normal rules. For example William can play an asset from his discard pile after defeating an enemy, with no extra action. Certainly not legal for anyone else! So the example of Trish discovering a clue and automatically evading an enemy engaged with a different investigator at her location, is allowed by her ability, since it says she can “automatically evade an enemy at her location” There is no stipulation as to who an enemy has to be engaged with or if it needs to be engaged at all. She can even evade an aloof enemy without taking an action, in that circumstance or an elite enemy, since there is nothing stating otherwise. Her ability is also written in a way that means it doesn’t have to trigger on the heels of a successful investigation. It just says “after you discover one or more clues at your location...” There are both Seeker and Rogue cards that let you discover clues without a test. Working a Hunch is great because it’s fast, so even if you are engaged with an enemy, you can discover a clue without an attack of opportunity, and automatically evade that enemy without even taking an action! Intel Report lets you discover clues without a test by buying them. Extensive a Research let’s you discover two clues at your location, although you have to have a lot of cards in your hand for it to be cost effective (unless you are having one of those scenarios where you are rolling in resources with no way to spend them). If you aren’t playing Taboo, Trish can have Pendant of the Queen which allows you to discover a clue without taking an action as well. Art Student and Lola Santiago can also discover clues with out a test.
  13. Maybe Carolyn can be rescued by the Dreamers in Dream Eaters. The Search for Kadath could easily have her hanging out in Ulthar and you could just invite her along! 😉 Poor Rita. The first time we played Labyrinths it was with 2 of us and we payed all three variations, but it was a snooze fest because they are just too similar. That one really is better with enough people to each have one and play it simultaneously. It doesn’t scale well to 2-4 investigators, unless you just play one variation. Not my fave! There is a pretty good fan made standalone, Called by the Wendigo, which we will probably substitute for Labyrinths next time we do this. It takes place in Canada, to keep the idea of globetrotting in tact. Using Excelsior to get the heck out of dodge, is a great thematic idea! I think it would be fun to write a few interludes to connect the standalones together in different ways and create a campaign log.
  14. Blob is possibly my favorite standalone, or at least tied with Guardians of the Abyss. It’s is challenging, but can also be pretty hilarious. It’s very re-playable. Guaranteed not to have the same experience twice!
  15. I love reading about all of your experiences as you are playing through things! I remember how much fun it was learning it (although, I don’t think you ever stop learning it). We jumped into AHCG a couple of years ago, while it was just gaining popularity, coming from the board game and MoM. For a while were playing 3-4 times a week. We’re down to about twice a week, but it is addictive. I don’t think Excelsior is so hard that you couldn’t tackle it, even if you are still relatively new to the game. There are so many ways you can vary play. These are a couple of things we have tried, waiting for a campaign to finish releasing and during shut down. One was playing two investigators each and creating a “campaign” out of the Standalones in order of release. We started the first Standalone with 0 XP. The idea was to get through all of them, using the same investigators and keeping whatever XP and goodies we earned plus any trauma we may have accrued. We were pretty beat up by the end, but had also traveled all over the globe to keep the world safe and had some pretty cool stuff to put on our Knickknack shelf! Another diversion we created for ourselves during shut down, was to play our favorite scenario from each campaign with different investigators each time. To spice it up, we couldn’t choose our own investigators. We chose them for each other. We were allowed to exile one each from the pool. (I chose Calvin and my husband chose Lola). It was actually kind of fun, because we didn’t know going in who we would end up playing for that scenario and since we have a tendency to get locked into one or two classes, it made us branch out with investigators we would normally shun. It also improved our deck building skills. It’s where my husband discovered the joy of playing Sefina and I discovered the joy of playing William.
  16. I concur. There are also times when you have no choice. The Act deck advances automatically when you have finished whatever is required. Keeping that in mind, we have been known to put off doing that last thing to finish off an enemy with XP value, or to clear a location for XP, or even to have an investigator on his/her last legs, go to a location to be healed. As long as the trade off with the Agenda deck is reasonable.
  17. I agree Sleight of Hand and Knowledge is Power (which are similar cards) both needed tweaking, especially with the old Taboo for SoH which needed to be brought down a notch and all the new Tomes and Spells making KiP too powerful. The idea of getting other cards into decks is a good one. Quick Thinking and Amanda was a good catch.
  18. Agreed. Maybe not 3 years ago, when the options for how to abuse a card were more limited, but these days, there are so many other ways to accomplish things. I have always liked DoN, but have never been in a situation that could really exploit it. I can see Double Double and DoN do some serious harm too. But even with the ways DoN can be abused, a lot of stars wild have to align, for all of those cards to be available at the same time and everyone being at the same location to use them. I would think those experiences would be more the exception than the rule. I think something more along the line of, “No other cards may be committed to a skill test while using DoN” would have bought it back closer to its original inception I will miss it. 😢 Machete’s change is appropriate and Thank you Matt for making Higher Education feasible again. I’be been waiting for a Mr Rook change for a while, although I anticipated it would be +3.
  19. My only issue is the Facebook /Twitter thing. I haven’t been on either one for over a year. This forum is pretty much my social media, (along with the handful of family members I follow on Instagram). It is shocking the amount of time I can waste doing nothing but scrolling around. I probably spend too much time on this forum, but at least it’s my only vice!😉 At least, FFG is being pretty up front about it’s intentions and I respect that. And they are giving something back. I guess like most things, it’s double sided. The more people play the game we all love, the more content FFG will produce. So it’s a way of getting the lovers of the game spread the word in a way that is less about rules etc and focuses on the play experience and how different it can be with the same scenario. Which is free advertising, yes, but more effective advertising than if they spent oodles and gobs in a more traditional way, so I get it. It benefits current players in the long haul. It’s also fun to share and hear about other people’s experiences, so it’s not like it’s an unpleasant undertaking! If it just weren’t Facebook and Twitter...(but that’s my issue, I realize) I will say this. If FFG wants this to work, they had better put their money where our mouths are and start re-printing stuff that’s out of stock pronto and start keeping it in stock, so that the new players and even some more recent ones, have campaign and scenario experiences to share and be able to buy the campaigns and scenarios they are hearing about. Otherwise this is doomed to fail. I mean like pulling Ancient Evils in every Mythos phase doomed!
  20. Yes. Only Barkham player and Investigator cards are specific to that scenario. Keeping the investigator decks separate or including the cards for general play is up to you. The only thing we noticed it that the random basic weaknesses created for the pre built investigators are pretty geared to that investigator. Some of those weaknesses would be a non issue to other investigators. So we don’t use them in the general pool and if we play one of them, we give them the one they came with. That is just us though.
  21. Yes. You would choose which weapon you want to use for each fight action. There are cards that you can use in tandem with an asset in play or an action you take to improve chances or increase the outcome. For example, if you have the skill card Vicious Blow in your hand you can apply it to your attack with whichever weapon you are using, or even if you decide to attack without a weapon. If you succeed, it will deal +1 damage.
  22. You are probably ok. The blessing tokens from Sister Mary seem to impact the chaos bag more the fewer investigators there are. We are playing with 4 and they come back out fairly quickly. Except when Patrice puts 4 more in! This mechanic does mess with Jacqueline Fine’s ability somewhat, but I think Father Mateo should be ok. He should play with Sister Mary, if for no other reason than to thank her for some more “blessed” cards to work with!
