I enjoy the direction, like the people working on the game and don't plan on stopping my support for this game.  I'm still having alot of fun playing it.  I wanna thank Matt, Jeremy and the other LCG designers for the work they did to maintain the quality of the game through so many products.

I think Asmodee as the parent company is more the driver here than FFG.
I completely agree with your sentiments in regards to the game and this helps drive me to their site and news page too. FFG has great designers and I like how they have made so many efforts to include their fan base in announcements etc. For example, the segment they had last spring where we asked questions on this forum and they answered them was great. The term ‘community forum’ has been completely accurate. I think it’s that feeling of community which we are all going to mourn losing the most.
To put it in Arkhamesque terms; it feels like we are leaving Velma’s Diner, the Bank, St Mary’s Hospital, Downtown and all the other familiar places in our dear little town and being sucked through a rift into the vast void of Social Media and BGG!

  2. I wish we could send this entire thread over to FFG/Asmodee.  I wonder if they really understand how rare and important a thing they have in their forums.  In today’s world where civility and respect seems to be on the wane, this is a place where complete strangers can happily discuss the complexities of a shared interest. It isn’t acrimonious, or negative. Even when opinions are shared that not everyone agrees with, it doesn’t descend into judgmental salvos, which is a rare thing these days.

I know this decision is all about saving money. It’s obviously a corporate decision, and inexplicably,  those often don’t take the consumer into account. This move might improve their bottom line in the short term at the expense of adversely affecting it in the long run. If new players start a game and are frustrated, or confused, or just need a little help improving and doesn’t have easy access to getting that support, how likely is it they will stay the course and continue to purchase every new release and recommend the game onward?
Regardless of a player being seasoned or new to a game, having a place to go which isn’t overwhelming, has helpful people, can give and receive advice, clarify rules, share experiences and generally encourage each other, is an important element to consumer retention.

These forums are and have been part of a successful business model and it may seem expedient to Asmodee to abandon them, but I think it’s shortsighted. It’s a way for them to see how players react to different game elements, keeping them aware of what is and isn’t working. I have to assume it can be useful in production and idea generation. There are a lot of pretty brilliant people on these forums with some really great ideas. It keeps the consumer interested, supported, looking forward, engaged and makes them all around better players of the game. The more distant the consumer becomes to a business, the worse it is for the business. We are the lifeblood of the company after all. As they say, “No consumers. No dinner.” (Actually, I’m pretty sure no one says that, but you catch my drift).

I’m sure BGG has nice people too, but even with my little foray over there yesterday, it just feels less inclusive and approachable (not to mention harder to navigate). I know I would never have had the nerve to ask my questions there as I was refining my play. I’m not sure how comfortable I would be even now.

I’ve been there as well the whole time, but I like the close-knit forum here. I’ll be at bgg going forward primarily just out of necessity.

I’m staying here till the bitter end. I have signed up on BGG,(same user name) but man it feels weird. It’s like moving in the middle of the school year and not knowing anyone!

  4. 8 minutes ago, Soakman said:

Absolutely, but do you have a bgg account? I may need to get your email or something. I just purchased a house so I’ve been incredibly busy and haven’t made much progress there, but I will as soon as things have settled down some.

I don’t, but it looks like I will have to spread my wings and open one!

I don't know, but I would liked to. Seems pretty arbitrary. The only thing I can assume is that maybe they do not have enough moderators or don't want to use their resources monitoring the forums. But I don't know how much of that they do officially. Unless Asmodee just doesn't like the idea? I have no clue.

Very big bummer. I have very much enjoyed the people and camaraderie on this site. I’m not a huge social media person either. I’m sure it’s to save money somehow.  It’s sad though. This has always been a safe place, where people are respectful, helpful and extremely entertaining!

Soakman, please continue to me send any updates to Blackest Pits!! I feel like our play styles are a lot alike. I always have enjoyed your homebrew.

I will miss Allonym’s hot takes and overall expertise in all things Arkham.

I’ll miss Duciris who has been like a founding father on this site, has some of the most long lasting threads and is maybe the most ‘Marvel-lous’ Penguin on the planet.

I am starting to wax nostalgic and will become downright maudlin if I keep going, but suffice it to say that I’ll miss all y’all. Some of you have made me belly laugh and others have shown me a different way to approach my deck building and clarify odd cards, while others have the gift of bringing their play experiences to life.

If nothing else, we’ve been able to commiserate together when shipping is delayed, rejoice together when things are delivered or found at an FLGS and share the highs and lows of saving the planet and sometimes even the universe. It’s a dirty job, but someone’s got to do it...and you all do it with such style!

I have a question about changing cards between Scenarios during a Campaign. I understand how we can use XPs to purchase upgrades or higher level cards. But what if I realize one of my level zero cards isn't doing what I wanted, so I want to change it out for another level zero card? For example, what if I want to swap Flashlight for Knife?

Would I have to consider the new level zero card to cost 1 XP?

It’s one of our house rules. We allow a little tweaking of the deck with 0 level cards, especially if they are ones we have never used before, but only after the first scenario. After that, it’s Adaptable or pay up!

The playmats for this game have been out of stock in the FFG store for a long while, and the player base has continued to grow.

I think putting out new playmats--or even just reprinting the old ones--should be like printing money, right? They've put these together as organized play premiums before, where they are operating at a loss for promotional purposes. Why not have some to sell?

On a related note, I don't think they've ever sold the deck boxes like this one that have been issued at Arkham Nights events:

    User: kelvinman_123456

In light of the often-expressed consumer appetite for storage solutions, I wonder if these would be commercially feasible?

How many cards does that hold?

I had pestered my local shop about Devil Reef and WOTOG so much that they evidently set aside two copies of each for me. So even though I had picked up my (paid in advance) copies last weekend, I got a phone call today saying they were holding them for me.

    Nice one!

Our local shop kept forgetting to set aside the ones we preordered from them and would sell them on the day of release to other people, usually within an hour of when we would call to see if they had them. Which is why we started pre ordering from Asmodee directly.

Tracking emailed from UPS finally updated..  They claim Monday.  The link Asmodee sent out says they're still awaiting the packages.  (They'll probably get handed off to them for final delivery.)

i'm not irritated because of how far behind I am on Arkham.  If this were Marvel, I'd be pulling my hair out.

I hear you. It looks like UPS has given up on scanning stuff in at for the holidays.

Yeah, I'm expecting my local store should still have them in stock after Christmas if no one gives me one, so I should be able to buy it myself at the end of the month. But with all these reports of reduced inventory, there could be a run on them and I could get stuck without. If so, I'll just have to wait for the reprint. But I'm gambling that I'll get one.

I just saw War of the Outer Gods back in stock on FFG’s website.

I'm getting set up to start the Dunwich Legacy. I have the following on my desk:

    • Two Core Sets
    • One Dunwich Legacy Expansion
    • All six Dunwich Scenarios

At this time, I'm also moving all my Investigator cards into a storage box, complete with divider tabs for each class. It seems like I should unpack all six Dunwich scenario packs and combine those with the cards from the Core and Dunwich Expansion boxes. And that I should then use those cards, organized by class, to build my Investigator deck that I'll use throughout the Dunwich campaign.

I guess what I'm getting at is that there's no point in waiting to add the Dunwich scenario Investigator cards, because the deck I start the campaign with is the one I'll stick with throughout. Like if I wait until starting the third Scenario, I won't be able to add any new Investigator cards (with the exception of spending XPs) because my deck will have already been built.

Does that sound like the right approach to take?

It’s completely up to you, how you want to tackle Dunwich.
We started playing this game when they began releasing The Forgotten Age. So we bought all of Dunwich and all of Carscosa at once, to play in order of release. So we opened the Mythos packs as we played. When we finished a scenario, we opened the next one, so those cards were available for upgrading. It was like Christmas every time. Brand new player cards and decisions of how to upgrade. It was a lot of fun and added an element of anticipation to playing. Looking back, I also think we used more cards, because we had fewer to choose from.  That isn’t a bad thing, because it enlarges your experience with the card options.
But it’s all up to you. Have fun!!!!

Mine still has yet to leave the warehouse either 😕 I guess the bright side being is the next method pack and devils reef are going to arrive the same day lol (joke.... unless?)

It may have left the warehouse. Mine said the same thing, but UPS just never scanned it in. It eventually came.

Yeah that makes sense. Also I think that the player-base has been growing pretty fast during the pandemic so that might be why things are getting sold out sooner.

Exactly. That is what I think happened. They probably plan for a certain amount of growth in popularity when they order a print run. But with shut downs pretty much all over the world in the Spring, the increase in demand for games was something they couldn’t have foreseen and this one became very popular. Since printers were also shut down and FFG makes so many different card games, they probably have been slammed. So they are selling the stock they have and having to reprint. I’m sure printers have also been backed up. Hopefully it’s leveling off.

Got shipping notification about 1 today.  Hadn't left the warehouse last I saw.

Mine said the same thing and came 7 days later, on the day I had ordered them on Amazon just in case. UPS just never scanned them in, so there was zero tracking info.
I should be getting those any day. I was going to hang onto them for a week or so anyway, in case someone’s didn’t arrive. Let me know, and I will send out the sled dogs....with Skids O’Drool in the lead spot, he can “take the wheel” of Fed Ex and UPS and USPS trucks and get your stuff to you lickity split!

I finally got the notice on Wednesday that my Devil Reef was ready for pickup at my FLGS so I was able to go get it yesterday. They still don't seem to have War of the Outer Gods though. (I didn't preorder that one — trying to save something for people to get me for Christmas. But it's a gamble.)

War of the Outer Gods is on Amazon.

This is what bugs me about FFG, they make tiny print runs, knowing full well they are going to get sold out. So then they end up re-ordering products 2 weeks after the release, and they don't even have enough to fulfill preorders made on the announcement date most times. They need to realize that the products are going to sell so it's not like this every time!

That said, if they can't print as many packs because of the pandemic then I get it, but I'm not sure that's the problem because it feels like they have been doing it even before. Maybe I'm misremembering though, or the pandemic has made it worse.

Yeah, it’s been this way since June. But before that, nothing was ever out of stock,  except some player Mats.
This is the first campaign so far, where they are consistently selling all their stock before release, but I think Innsmouth is the last of their pre Covid developed stuff. Hopefully, from here on out, they will factor in their bigger consumer base in their print runs. 🤞🏻

  16. Agreed. This is the worst month by far since they’ve re-opened after Covid. I know Minnesota is in a partial lock down again, so I’m not sure if that is impacting things. Or if it’s just that UPS is swamped and will only picked up so much stuff at a time.
If you haven’t tried calling in the morning, maybe that’s the best time. I called called Customer Service this morning about 9:30 their time and someone picked right up. She was super nice and pleasant. Couldn’t do a lot, but she did verify it was definitely picked up by UPS, so that was something.

Had my shipping notification for Devil's Reef and In Too Deep five days ago - still not received. Getting anxious 😠

Well, my whole fiasco turned out to be a tempest in a teapot. They both came today, which was day seven...and I ordered them on Amazon as a back up... and those have shipped.
So if you don’t get them, I’ll have an extra of Devil Reef and War of the Outer Gods. I will wait a couple of weeks before sending them back in case anyone wants them and can’t find them.

I searched the last 5 pages without finding anything so sorry for asking if it was asked already. Is there a reason why the last 2 AH Mythos packs were out of stock in Europe even before their release date? Even Amazon UK have no stocks. In the meantime the last dynasty pack for L5R is available without any problems. IS FFG having supplying issues? Thanks for any insight.

They were out of stock with FFG before release too. There are copies on Amazon at least for Devil Reef at retail. I don’t know how that affects European shipping.

I believe an unanticipated growth of popularity, is what is happening with AHCG stuff.
Innsmouth was announced last February before Covid hit. When FFG  announces a cycle, it has already been finished and I am pretty certain it’s even already been printed or at the very least, the order for printing is in.  Then Covid happened and this game became  very popular gaining a lot of players. Everything  FFG had pre-ordered  for printing or was printed pre-Covid, was based on a consumer base that they had not anticipated being as big as it would be, by the time those orders or print runs were being released. Even printers were affected by the shut down in the Spring, so that didn’t help.
War of the Outer Gods was supposed to be released at Gen Con this last summer. I’m sure it was printed pre Covid too.
They have scheduled reprints of all of these things, which sell out pretty quickly too unfortunately. I think retailers are snatching them up.

They told me today, when I called about my orders that they are printing more of the Innsmouth cycle items out of stock.

I’m not sure if L5R has as increased it’s fan base as quickly, so there may not be the supply problems.

I hope that kind of answers your question.

    Still awaiting shipping my notifications.

I would call them and make sure they have your copy to send.
I just called them because it has been 7 days since mine shipped and UPS tracking still says awaiting shipment. Usually it’s here at least 6 days after shipping and even USPS still has no inkling of it.
They looked into it and say they also don’t know what happened. If UPS never scanned it in, or what. They said I’d need to wait till next week when it’s been two weeks since it shipped and then if it’s still not here, they would refund me or re-ship.
I asked them since they are already out of stock, if I wait till next week and it’s still not here and it has been lost, what are they going to do? Are there extra copies lying around in case copies get lost that you can send me, or would they just say “I’m sorry we can refund you but you’re out of luck as to receiving the product.”
She admitted that they would not be able to send me any other copies because yes, they are out of stock. They are on Amazon, since our FLGS is not open and I ordered them, just in case. Which is a drag to have to pay twice up front, but better than not receiving the middle Mythos pack of a campaign which you ordered the day it was announced.
I did also mentioned that their new way of shipping has been adding a lot of extra time to get products and that combined with how long they are taking to ship products, is not working. They are not arriving anywhere near release dates. Or even always shipping before release date. She said she would send that feedback up the line, so who knows?
She also said they have placed a re-order for the product.

  20. That is what I’m doing. The last time this happened, it was Weaver of the Cosmos, so we were already waiting though lock down.  They sent the shipping email but neglected to ship the product. Even the replacement got sent to the wrong hub! It sat there for a couple of days in the lost dept. before another phone call that finally got it to us. I think it was almost 4 weeks late! The difference this time, it that both Devil Reef and War of the Outer Gods is out of stock. I will call tomorrow, it will have been a week since they shipped it then.

Watch your tracking, Mimi!!! This same thing happened with me for Dark Revelations, and If I go back and check my original tracking number right now, it still says it hasn't arrived at the UPS origin facility. It was a long TWO weeks trying to convince Asmodee that they lost it, but they eventually shipped me a replacement and I had Gloria two days later.
