    R4 astromech on a LAAT?

What about just barrage rockets? You can have it approaching the enemy really fast together with a generic ARC. Two double-modded 3 dice shots.

I was thinking more in something like this: Warthog and the torrents all focus, and they are just a wall waiting to be shot at. Whoever the enemy shoots gets a lock, which unleashes the 3 double modded concussion missile attacks. Obi wan can join the party too if he's at range 3 for sync console/wokfpack.

Also you can substitute the concussions in Warthog for diamond boron, it's just that I don't own any copy.

Another good fit with ghost company is Fives. You attack two times, if any of them misses you get to store a focus (potentially up to two per turn). Those focus can serve you next turn to activate ghost company even if you choose red maneuvers, go through obstacles, bump or want to take another action. During this new attack you may miss one of the shots, which will grant you another focus token, and potentially this continues every turn, being able to shoot twice once and again while crashing everything in your way.
Alll of this works with Cody too, by the way, but requires the low init pilot for Fives to work.

Republic has quad ARCs and there are only two kinds of lists, quad ARCs and not enough ARCs. Of course not enough ARCs tend to be good lists but does that really make up for not having enough ARCs? No it does not!
I would say my tongue is firmly planted in cheek there but I also would not believe it if I did.

I won’t say that the sequels don’t have some problems. They do. But honestly, there was only one truly flawless Star Wars film, and that was Empire.

I unashamedly enjoyed the sequels. All three of them. In some ways, I think TLJ was the most realistic Star Wars film of them all, daring to show that heroes are just people. Fearful, fallible, imperfect people. I also love that a Luke—finally—straight up called out the Jedi for their idiocy.
Anyway, whether you or I loved or hated any particular part of the saga isn’t quite the point. Whatever Disney is making of the Star Wars property, I’m pretty sure they’re putting precious little thought into what FFG is doing. Sure, they probably have a meeting twice a year to say, “We’re looking to push the Resistance cartoon hard, what about working some of that material in?” sure. But they’re not sitting there vetoing characters like Carnor Jax getting an update in 2.0.

Fixating on Calculate access is a mistake.  Ignore Calculate.  Pretend Synced Laser Cannons has no text, and is simply an attack.  It's a 3-dice attack, with a standard firing arc and normal damage.  2-cannon-slot restriction is irrelevant, just look at what adding a 3-dice attack to most of the relevant ships would mean.
Resistance Transport with a 3 red dice at all ranges is absurd value for 35-36 points.  It's not going to be 3-4 points.
There's no way this is going to cost less than 6 points, since this is almost invariably better than an Ion Cannon.  I'm guessing 7 or 8 points, because getting a 3rd attack die is HUGE on ships with 2 attack dice, like Resistance Transports, TIE/rb, and HMP.
    //
If all you're thinking about is B-Wings and Aggressors, supposing this is scaled based on ship attack dice, I think we'd still be looking at 4-5 points.  Certainly not 3, since this is way better on one of those ships than a set of Autoblasters--again, if only for blank-text 3-dice range 2-3.  Is it 1 or 2 points better than Autoblasters?  I kinda think 2.

    Most this.
The sideslip is a helicopter-like maneuver and has no business on most other engines-to-the-rear chassis.  I'm all for more maneuvers, but this one does not feel like something that belongs on a ship that cannot innately and easily move sideways.
Lastly, maybe we should wait to see if it sux before we want every ship to have it.

I could really see sideslips for gunships and bulky ships, as the LAAT. It would be way more thematic there than, say, in an A-wing. Also it would be really weird to offer any ship a way of performing these maneuvers without telegraphing them the previous turn like the HMP. I mean, the HMP is supposed to be built for that so...
Anyway, new maneuvers look like fun 😃 and open up the design space.

I think Wolffe with Secura will be really good. You have double mods for offense with a focus and Wolffe's ability plus you give an extra action to a friend. Maybe... 64 points or so for the pack? I think it's a really useful ship.

And just another good use for Aalya: Put her in any Laat with barrage rockets. You have the focus and fire convergence rerolls for your own rocket attack and an extra action and rerolls for a friendly ship.

Did he fly one? I know his nephew Captain Typho did.
I think he should have his old, ability, but when his mimicked/shadowed ship is destroyed he loses their ability/initiative.
i6 for good measure. If you have 2 or fewer stress token, you may perform actions on your action bar even while stressed.
I don't need Mk II, but if you gave me a flippable configuration for the wings (that I hope are movable in the 2nd edition release). Maybe -1 die and your 3-4 speed maneuvers are decreased in difficulty?
Unkar Plutt in the Resistance Falcon.
The talked about in the GenCon Stream. I think it is in the Eta-2 pack. It allows Deltas and Etas to have Torrent wings (maybe V-Wings?) if I remember correctly. If you look at the Eta-2 spread, I think it is the upgrade farthest to the right.

It's probably not competitive, but I played this the other day and I don't know exactly why but I really enjoyed it. Those crackshot blue squadrons can surprise you if you are lucky.
So basically you have an opening double modded salvo of proton torpedoes+2 concussion, backed up with a potent ace (Obi Wan).

Passive Sensors gives you a Lock Action when you engage. Vader can spend a Force Charge to get himself a Focus out of it. Going after "Whisper" he can move, pop Afterburners, Lock and then do a Focus > Roll for a Force Charge to aim the Bullseye. You get a Five Dice attack with double mods against a Three Dice defense. And then you can just follow up with Three Dice and a guaranteed Crit against now only Two Dice. It's an expensive, but solid build.

    For the 75 points one:
    "Whisper" (57)
        Crack Shot (1)
        Fifth Brother (11)
        Stealth Device (6)

Ship total: 75  Half Points: 38  Threshold: 3

This guy can survive attack after attack without losing the stealth device if you are a bit lucky (and avoid 4 dice shots). It would be great to have lone wolf, and for an 80 points ace it would be brutal, but crackshot is something, you can expect to have bullseye on somebody without even trying.
For 50 points I find it way more difficult to think of a favorite. I will go for this one:
    Anakin Skywalker (N-1 Starfighter) (41)
        Crack Shot (1)
        Fire-Control System (2)
        Adv. Proton Torpedoes (6)

Ship total: 50  Half Points: 25  Threshold: 3
I think Anakin in the N1 is both fun to play and good enough, with repositioning abilities, action economy from the targeting computer and extra damage from the torpedoes and crackshot.

xanatos135 reacted to Maui. in Help me understand the Phantoms in 2.0
The 1.0 TIE Phantom was about as close to winning or losing before the game even started as you could get. They were incredibly powerful, but incredibly fragile, so if your Phantoms shot first, you had a massive advantage; if they didn't shoot first, they died quickly. Because their offensive power and defensive potential were both very high, they were astronomically priced, but they were only worth the points if you could guarantee they'd shoot first, which you couldn't. So Phantoms were neat but expensive ships that were made irrelevant by the large number of ships with access to PS10-11.
So I don't think of the changes to the TIE Phantom as nerfs. I think of them as needed quality-of-life adjustments to make them playable. They lost the fourth attack die and access to mid-combat cloaking, but gained a whole lot of flexibility, an extra HP, and a reasonable price. Whisper's minimum price dropped from 41% of a list to 26% (plus a Talent, I suppose).
The biggest advantages, simply put, are that it's no longer bound by a crippling need to shoot first; its ace pilots can now take Talents; and, most importantly, it no longer requires investing half a list into fielding one. Heck, you could field Whisper + Echo + 2 Sigma Aces if you wanted to.

They actually make no use of the astromech or force upgrade slots, so those two don't matter.
It would be more like an A-wing, but you can swap your linked boost for a "linked" barrel roll or pseudo-focus (if you keep the force). All without stressing.
