Another playtest session report.
Campaign: Shadows of Nerekhall
Quest: Local Politics Encounter 2 (this is a continuation of my previous report)
Power Level: Epic (Advanced)
Healer: Aurim, Bard
Aurim was not that useful throughout this quest.  He had good mobility, which would've been great, but he kept getting hit with Web Trap.  The potions didn't prove to be helpful.  For one-shot play, he seems perfectly fine the way he is, if not underpowered.
No proposed fix
Warrior: Hugo the Glorious, Raider / Treasure Hunter
Hugo continued to be a solid hero.  This version feels good.
No proposed fix
Mage: Landrec the Wise, Necromancer
We now tested the "Proposal A" version of Landrec: "Each time a hero performs an attack and rolls no Surge, add 1 Surge to the results."
This version was much more balanced than any other version previously tested.  He still feels slightly on the weak side, so I think it would be good to change his Heroic Feat to 1 surge for +5 damage.  I'm worried about this version in Act II though -- it may be a blank ability, as heroes have more dice they will be rolling surges more often.  So I think this version of Landrec needs to be tested in Act II.
Again, to summarize:
Version 1.0 (CK): "Each time you perform an attack and roll no Surge, add 1 Surge to the results."
Version 2.0 (bad): "Each time a hero within 3 spaces performs an attack and rolls no Surge, add 1 Surge to the results."
Version 3.0 (broken): "Each time a hero within 2 spaces performs an attack, add 1 Surge to the results."
Version 4.0 (slightly weak in Act 1): "Each time a hero performs an attack and rolls no Surge, add 1 Surge to the results."
Proposal B: "Each time you perform an attack, add 1 Surge to the results."
Proposal C: "Each time an adjacent hero performs an attack, add 1 Surge to the results."
Proposal D: "Each time a hero within 1 space performs an attack, add 1 Surge to the results."
Proposal E: "Once per turn, when a hero within 1 spaces performs an attack, add 1 Surge to the results."
Proposal F: (@kbalazsa: "too strong"): "Once per turn, when a hero within 2 space performs an attack, add 1 Surge to the results."
Proposal G: "Once per turn, when a hero within 2 space performs an attack, and rolls no Surge, add 1 Surge to the results."
Scout: Kirga, Ravager / Beastmaster
We replaced Stalker in this test, because it just wasn't a problem at all.  We tested the new Kirga Feat with the following fixes: "Add a number of fatigue tokens equal to your Speed..." (removed "twice") and "At the end of any figure's activation..." (instead of "at any time").
Kirga felt so much better this way.  So much so that I think we should add back the "twice Speed".  The real problem was being able to interrupt other figures' movements to move.  Doing so at the end of another figure's movement fixes all the problems, but still allows Kirga to do sneaky things.  That being said, to bring Kirga's Feat in line with other Feats that do similar things, it really should be "twice Speed".
All that being said, the Hero Ability (can't be targetted) can still be extremely good.  And needs to be tested in quests like Shadowfall Mountain.  However, I think Kirga is getting close to "done" and feels really good to play.

There seems to be an actual well fitting artwork for this mini!

I say I have found my Bogran!
How big is the mini compared to Descent heroes? It looks quite detailed.

Edit: Reduced number of knifes on his chest to 1 so it matches the mini and made his mask red to be more Bogran-like. I can make his mask silver again if you prefer.

I'm using this for Eliam:

And this one for Bogran the Shadow:

Okey I found this Orc thief mini.

..and made this. I am not very happy with this one to be honest but I guess it was worth the try.

The art does not really fit Descent in my opinion. I'll might make another try at some point later.

I'm really impressed by your art work, this is really great ! The hero ability has a little trouble since it allow to find the chest easier, but some tests are needed !

For the figure, with hero forge, should be easy to do

I made a quick version of Aurim with new character art that fits Rugals version.
I think this guy looks like a dude who scours through search decks and hands out potions.
I have not found a mini that fits yet
It might be possible to do something with this figue.
Maybe finding the mini first and modifying art later would be a better idea.

I made changes to this picture.
EDIT: After Rugal's comment below, I made a change so Aurim only picks one potion per quest but flip it faceup at the end of each encounter. This way you don't go through the Search deck as easily.

Yes, the heart recovery on Bard's Song of Mending does include himself.
The stamina recovery does not - notice the wording for that ability says 'each other hero within 3 spaces'.

- it affects just the Geomancer hero. when the class skills say "your attacks" it is limited to only you. You can check out Stalker's Easy Prey to see a wording that gives a bonus to each hero's attack, not only the Stalker hero.
At the start of your turn, you always refresh/unexhaust your exhausted cards.
A hero player may activate each familiar his hero controls once during his hero turn (either before or after resolving all of his hero’s actions). - Rulebook page 17

so when yur turn starts, you will always have to refressh your cards and then activate your hero or familiar.
You have to activate your hero and exhaust Terracall before activating your summoned stone if you want it to be able to perform an attack during its activation.
Even if terracall is not exhausted, your summoned stone will still be activated, but it can not perform an attack. This means it can only move during it's activation.
When activated, a familiar may perform a move action following the same rules as heroes - Rulebook page 17.
So if you want to perform an attack with your summoned stone during it's activation. You will have to exhaust Terracall during that same turn.
With that said, in the Community rules reference guide it is stated that "The Geomancer may exhaust Terracall to attack with a Summoned Stone without placing a Summoned Stone." So when you exhaust the card you don't have to place the stone within 3 spaces of you. It can keep its old location if you like that better.

No, Since the Summoned stone is a familiar that istreated as an obstacle instead of treated as a hero.
This is some information you can find in the Community Rules Reference guide on page 17.

Since the Barghest Howl affects "heroes", the Stone is not affected by that monster skill.
However if Howl is used on a familiar like Necromancer's Reanimate or Beastmaster's Wolf, they will be affected since those kinds of familiars are treated as heroes.
It's nice to see that you're having fun with the game! Don't be afraid to ask questions.
I advise you to download the Community Rules Reference guide though. it is searchable so just type in a word like "Summoned Stone" and you'll find lots of information that probably will answer your questions

When we are talking about development changes...
Did you know that artwork for Krutzbeck from Treaty of Champions was changed during development? Probably because of a mistake we could see alternative version on the German version of the box:

This artwork can be found in free Genesys Foundry Terrinoth Art Pack, enjoy!

It not only looks great but it works great too. The most fun automated-Overlord mechanism and game experience I tried so far for Descent. Really a professional work from the guys here - they deserve all credit for that. It would be really nice to have it for all the other campaigns as well.

Hi!
After a few research on the internet I've found inspiration to paint watery bases. Here's the result:

Quick tuto: paint your base normally. Add 4-5 layers of shade (here I used Citadel Biel-Tan Green) covering a larger area each time, and beggining with the deepest water. Varsnish your mini (I use matt varnish). Finally brush gloss varnish on the water and on a small band sticked to the water.

Even if I'm really impressed by your abilities, in terms of play, I really like black bases, more easier to see as they can be seen as shadow of the figure on the game

The other heroes are the real original figures.
They're just primed with black and then some white from above.

Sahla's spell effect is hand made with part of a paper clip and green stuff.

Hence why I think a poll is useful. Whatever the community decides.
And yes I agree about Kirga. The yellow cape is menacing. I prefer it.
About agreeing on the tweaks: this takes time, and I really only resurrected this topic less than a week ago with less than 1 quest of a playtest session. Playtesting requires many rounds of trial and error. You can only talk so much. You just have to try characters at some point.
And I really need the community's help to remind me of any scenarios where some of these characters could break things. @rugal has already given me a good example of a scenario with Kirga in The Man Who Would Be King that I need to test that might be game breaking. Additionally there's a potentially nasty combo with Kirga as Beastmaster taking Stalker. These issues need to be looked at and handled appropriately.
