Can't Battle Meditate limited pilots. Yeah, for points the ARC is better. But I wanted the rerolls that the LAAT provides. I also didn't want to use Yoda the pilot because he's already force starved as it is. A force-starved LAAT is still a LAAT, whereas a force-starved Actis is a dead Actis.

You either want to be at R1 or R3 of these in your first engage. R1 because it limits their Systems Phase action to disengage. R3 because it limits their damage on you and because it gives you more room to cast a net to catch them on the next turn.

The Empire has the Palp Aces archetype, so I figured the Republic could get the Yoda Aces archetype. Crew Yoda actually does pretty well with the Actis. Laat/i Gunship - 212th Battalion Pilot - 64 212th Battalion Pilot - (49) •Yoda (15) Eta-2 Actis - •Aayla Secura - 61 •Aayla Secura - Confident Warrior (51) Stealth Device (8) Brilliant Evasion (2) Eta-2 Actis - •Anakin Skywalker - 72 •Anakin Skywalker - Hero of Coruscant (56) Autoblasters (3) •R7-A7 (3) Stealth Device (8) Brilliant Evasion (2) Total: 197 View in the X-Wing Squad Builder I lost the only game I've played with it, but I lost because I put Aayla on a rock and lost the stealth device because I'm bad.

All of the dialogue in the prequels was just abysmal. "I don't like sand", "If you're not with me, you're my enemy", and "Only a Sith deals in absolutes" are just some of the best/worst offenders. Actually, I take that back: TPM didn't have terrible dialogue, in the context of the movie. Skywalker's lines were corny, sure, but he's a 10 year old kid, so it fits, contextually. I actually consider TPM to be the best overall movie of the prequels: Not terrible dialogue, decent to good acting, and the most important thing: it at least makes sense that 10 year old Anakin would be whiny. -
Same. It's so expensive to buy into. 2 squad packs, 2-3 vulture droids, 3 Tris (to get enough Fearsome Predators), 1 Firespray, 2 HMPs, 2-3 Hyenas, 1 Nantex, and 1 Infiltrator just to be able to field lists with good varieties. That's almost 400 before tax, and I'm not even sure of how competitive your lists would be. GAR only really needs about 250-300 to make decently competitive lists, for instance.

I think that's fairly solid. Obviously if you had a third striker you would probably want 3 SKs vs 2-2, but material limits aside it's good. The only downside is, as Ploxis mentioned, it'll be hard keeping them in Sloane's range. You might also have a tougher time getting Sloane's ability to do a lot of work, as all of your ships are squirrelly and hard to kill.

Generally, you want to use the obstacles in your favor, via setup and during the game itself. Force the Y-Wings to fly into the rocks during the game, and setup rocks so that they can't bank into the center of the board. You want to be the one able to bank into the rocks, because that opens up your option to bank in, attack, then dip out while they either fly over rocks or have to wait another turn to be able to turn past rocks. Y-Wings are hot garbage at flying in rocks, so once you get them in them, it becomes a lot harder for them to stay attacking. Finally, always make sure that you are not in the forward arc. You would much rather be in the turret arc with no shots instead of the forward arc with shots, unless you have a really good chance of initiative killing the Y-Wing.
-
I suspect that the reason they made Yoda I3 instead of I4 is so that he could take BatMed fairly cheap.
-
Plus, if you're range controlling to keep it from getting shot, it also probably isn't able to give its rerolls.
-
Because a 49 point Jedi General's offense is a wet noodle compared to a 7b Knight, especially when the opponents decide that it's not worth it to gun for the generals, and instead blow out the LAAT? Now you've got 3 2 dice attacks with no real rerolls.
-
Yeah, I haven't had any trouble at all.
-
Right? Suggesting 30 points for a 3 dice ship with the ability to have passive mods is hilarious.
-
What do you mean the Actis out flies the support area? The support area is shooting at a target that is within the LAAT's firing arc... Unless you're talking about like Hawk?

8 Marg Sabl Closure Mining Guild TIEs will be the new hotness. Like crackshots, except no limited to bullseye and reusable.
-
I firmly believe Shaak Ti is the better support for 2 7B Knights. 7Bs, in my experience, the Knights really never have a force, because you're routinely spending it on boosting/rolling after the maneuver. With Shaak Ti, they can take an Evade the previous turn, focus, and have rerolls from Hound.

That's even worse lol: 92% of the time Whisper takes no damage. Not having SD brings that up to 40%. My point was that I've noticed a lot of people complaining about the Eta being OP and in need of a nerf days after being released yet other similar combos that have been in the game since Day 1 don't have people stamping their feet. It's also telling that those same broken combos that don't have people complaining also happen to be some of the most popular ships as well.
-
Stealth Device Soontir with a focus and evade in the same situation takes no damage 48% of the time.
-
Outmaneuver seems wasted on a 2 dice attack though.
-
I firmly believe that an Eta should be at least 5 points cheaper than a similar CLT Delta, except Anakin and the General. Anakin at 56 is still too expensive , and I always assumed the General would be about where it is: At low I, the ship ability is fantastic for blocking.
-
That it has a dial with a 5 straight, 3 hard, and its 3 banks aren't red, for starters. Anakin Skywalker (56) Predator (2) Obi-Wan Kenobi (49) Predator (2) Shadow Squadron Escort (29) Dedicated (1) Shadow Squadron Escort (29) Dedicated (1) Shadow Squadron Escort (29) Dedicated (1) Total: 199 View in Yet Another Squad Builder 2.0 Now you've got ships that can actually flank with the Jedi to provide them Dedicated rerolls, for instance.
-
It depends on what you need. If you need someone to keep up with a jedi, the V-Wing. But if you need something dependable to take some hits or provide Dedicated rerolls, the Torrent. Obviously, in Hyperspace you can't take the generic Torrents.

Naboo Royal N-1 Starfighter - •Dineé Ellberger - 38 •Dineé Ellberger - Bravo Five (38) Nimbus-class V-wing - •“Contrail” - 35 •“Contrail” - CT-4981 (33) Alpha-3B “Besh” (2) Nimbus-class V-wing - •“Klick” - 35 •“Klick” - GC-1000 (32) R3 Astromech (3) Naboo Royal N-1 Starfighter - •Padmé Amidala - 46 •Padmé Amidala - Aggressive Negotiator (44) Daredevil (2) Delta-7 Aethersprite - •Luminara Unduli - 45 •Luminara Unduli - Wise Protector (42) Calibrated Laser Targeting (3) Total: 199 View in the X-Wing Squad Builder This is a variation on stuff I've been trying. Between all the different components of the list, it limits your ability to mod your dice. Padme stops multiple Focus mods Luminara brings a hit down to a focus (oftentimes pairing with Padme to just full on negate a damage) Klick stops you from getting range modifiers Contrail changes the enemy ship's focus to blank Dinee stops mods. Now here's a question: Contrail and Padme have both abilities active on the same ship. Contrail mods the ship's dice result to change a focus to a blank. Does Padme prevent any other focus results from being modified now?

The LAATs are clearly priced for the upcoming V-Wing and Eta 2. 2 Dedicated SSV ARCs and Warthog leaves 56 points to play with. Unless FFG does something braindead stupid with the pricing (which, they might), that most likely leaves room for Anakin in the Eta.

Underrated by most of the community, which is the standard for any competitive game. Even if you never use her ability, she's an I5 large base 3 dice butterfly arc with native boost and a force. Now she always has a mod for her green die and can take target lock for her offense. And when she sloops, she can still have a full focus token. All that said, her Hyperspace matchups aren't great; the YT-1300 doesn't like lists with 4+ ships.

I believe he piloted a Torrent, Y, and an ARC. I don't remember if he piloted a V-wing or not, but at this point it would be obnoxious to not have him in it. Contrail in the V will also be a 5, so there will be two 5s in the V. I get what you mean about wanting other I5s in the ships, but there's really no game reason to put 2 I5s in a Y, Torrent, or ARC. The one ship he will be in that would benefit from another I5 does get a second one.
