Lily Chen reacted to Duciris in Sad to see the end of the forum here on FFG
Yeah. I'm not active on any other communities, largely because they don't seem to be as positive or dedicated to lighter topics.
I cannot say this news finds me well nor encouraged.

Lily Chen got a reaction from NatherGein in FLGS Pre-Order Only?
I think what the OP was referring to was that we can't pre-order from Asmodee. I play Arkham Horror: LCG and I always pre-order form Asmodee. Maybe it's stores only, because they didn't want to pay for shipping since the box for this game is really big. I don't know. I'd prefer to pre-order from Asmodee.

I think the art looks really good. The figures are also really nicely sculpted, and I'm excited to paint them. I don't mind the app, it likely replaces about 50 decks of cards and about 100 different tokens. The price point looks accurate and I'm ok with it. Also the UNDO button in the app is worth at least $40-$50.

FFG Fans: BOO, FFG recycles uses art too much!
Also FFG Fans: BOO, new art!
Aside from that there’s just no chance there was going to be an Overlord in this game. FFG hasn’t really used that model since Imperial Assault and it’s just not in the zeitgeist right now.

Lily Chen reacted to tomkat364 in Hmm. Yay?
My biggest issue is the app. It's one thing to have an app that serves to expand a playable game, but to have the game entirely dependent on the app is not cool in my mind. Am I the only one concerned that the game will be unplayable after Armageddon? What am I supposed to do with this game when I'm sitting on a pile of ashes with no electricity??? (and yes, I am serious)

Lily Chen reacted to BurnyBurns in Huge gulf between quality of card artwork and board artwork - what gives, FFG?
What can I say? Great artstyle ages well. 🤷🏻♂️

Lily Chen reacted to Villefere in Do bless and curse tokens stay in the chaos bag between scenarios?
No they are removed. This has been confirmed by Matt Newman

Lily Chen got a reaction from mischraum.de in Star Wars Co-Op, do you think we'll get it?
I'm really biased, but I would really like to see a Star Wars version of Arkham Horror LCG.

Lily Chen got a reaction from Dandy06 in AH3 worth buy if..?
AH3 is a great game. I would say it's like AH2, AH: LCG, and Pandemic (which I would say is a good thing). Personally I like AH3 more the EH, but I know some people prefer EH if only because they already own all the expansions. AH3 is similar to the LCG by having story driven scenarios with branching paths, if that's why you like the LCG then I would definitely suggest AH3.

Lily Chen reacted to Soakman in Scenario 1: The Initiation (In Blackest Pits campaign)
Hello friends,
I know there is a lot of exciting news with the announcement of the new investigator starter decks, but we've also got a void to fill while FFG is on hiatus. To help, I wanted to announce that I have begun work on a fan-created campaign title In Blackest Pits. The first scenario (The Initiation) has been completed and is available at BGG and now also at Arkham Central (http://arkhamcentral.com/index.php/in-darkest-pits-campaign/). There should also be a TTS version coming with the next Super Complete mod or you can get the files from my steam workshop and set up yourself (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2031905027). Here's a bit of a synopsis for you:
Enjoy! Further scenarios will be coming as they are completed. Any ratings/reviews/questions would be welcome at Arkham Central if you decide to give it a try.
Edit: The Initiation is now available in the TTS super complete mod! Shout-out to Dran for his excellent work.

Lily Chen reacted to Buhallin in Rookie/Heroic Modes Announcement
I think you're misunderstanding what I mean by "design failure" here. It seems clear at this point that the core game needed more control and granularity over difficulty. That should have been apparent during design, but they missed it. Now they're left with the fairly inelegant solution of throwing more encounter cards at players, because there's not really anything much else they can do.
The rest of your post seems to be suggesting that players who want more difficulty are trying to do that at the expense of others. I don't think that's the case at all. In fact, it's my entire point - the core design of Champions makes difficulty erratic and hard to control. Standard is often too easy, and Expert too punishing, even for lighter players. The modular sets vary in difficulty but in a very erratic way. A single card (Shadows of the Past) can take any given game from trivial to punishing in one jump. Nemesis sets don't actually seem to match nemesis power to hero power at all, which would be an interesting balancing mechanism (although still erratic).
If the difficulty system was well designed it would be able to handle a much broader range of player skill and depth, from ones who just want to take the Cap pack off the shelf and never change it to the most serious of deckbuilders. I'm not saying what we got with Heroic didn't make the game harder, it does... I just don't think it does so in an interesting way, and the fact that they had to do it without any changes to the components or even core rules points to it not being considered during design.

@KennedyHawk2 has already done that. I haven't played with them yet, but I'm getting them printed so I can give them a try.

An idea that I heard somebody say was to create new environment cards to start the game with. To me that sounds like a mucher more fun and creative way to make things harder.

Curses! Wawawa. You find feathered fink, I fear you have clipped my wings! I've really let myself lay an egg at being caught so easily! It's time I fly the coup!

Lily Chen reacted to KennedyHawk2 in Alternative difficulty modes
I’ve worked on some challenge modes to be mixed in with standard or expert villains.
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/10RCs-Vf3jU0GyHG-z7JN_U0ZqNYXaiDc
You can just put an environment card into play to begin the game. You can use challenge 1 with any of the current villains. And I’m making a challenge card for each other scenario (just mutagen formula still to figure out). They do as much as they can to provide a challenge while still mainly focusing on the cards in a villains deck. Rhino example attached.
its made to give the players interesting choices... is it worth it to get rid of that side scheme? Can we handle a charge?

Lily Chen reacted to dysartes in Monterrey Jack?
I suspect his build may end up being a bit cheesy...
-
Lily Chen reacted to Rejoinder in Monterrey Jack?
I think they were just future-proofing the campaign guide for whichever expansion he eventually appears in.
I also wonder whether they'll continue the tradition of designing Monterey as a Seeker, but accidentally printing him as a guardian.

Lily Chen reacted to Krysmopompas in Monterrey Jack?
If there's a full Egypt or "Strange Remnants" style big box expansion coming I'd anticipate Jack in that one. He won't be in the RTTFA I'm sure.
I'm still waiting for the original main man, Harvey Walters! Have a feeling he'll show up in the same big box as Monty.

Lily Chen reacted to Redclock in Monterrey Jack?
My conspiracy theory: There is no Monterey Jack, only Zuul.
Non-conspiracy theory: I expect him to be released either as A: part of investigator pack similar to Marvel hero packs as one of their new products we have no details to; B: he is released in the next set to partly coincide with the release of Return to Forgotten Age; or C: He will be "released" with a currently unannounced Novella to coincide with the release of RtFA. I hope either B or C is correct, but am not holding my breath in anticipation of his release.

It’s clearly either Battle Royale Mode or Arkham Horror Munchkin.

Lily Chen reacted to SpiderMana in Livestream Reminder/Discussion Thread!
So I've got a couple things I'm planning to ask them on the Livestream next Thursday, but I figured I'd check if there's anything else I should ask, considering plenty of people will be stuck at work.
So far:
-Playmat release/shipping?
-Multiplayer playmat? (I think this is lumped into the first one, but I'll double check if they don't mention it specifically.
-If Webbed Up wasn't Max 1/Enemy and you had 2 on one enemy, would you only discard one or both when the enemy tries to attack? (Because I wrongfully assumed Stunned and Webbed Up didn't functionally stack, and you discarded both of them, but that's not the case.)
Let me know if there's any other questions! I'll likely also edit a link into this post and keep track of cool news from the livestream in this thread.

Lily Chen reacted to Trialus in Marvel Champions' and other LCG's futures
I know they lost the Netrunner license, but Android is still their IP and I would be psyched to see a co-op LCG in that setting.
If I was really getting silly I'd say I want a fantasy LCG that kinda cribs off of 7th Continent....each pack/box would have map cards that would have different actions available on them. Could have an ever-expanding, connected world with different terrains, dungeons/caves to enter, cities, etc. could even have different layers of the same terrain (sewers, streets, rooftops) or events that change/replace the terrain temporarily or permanently (a flood, earthquake or forest fire). Each pack could also include new loot, spells, skills, allies to grow the characters....Pipe dream probably, but would be cool. As for setting, I like the Faerun suggestion by Damenwood, but I think Tarliyn is right and it would be Terrinoth...though they have done some stuff with The Witcher before and that world could be a good fit as well (not to mention enjoying a good deal of popularity at the moment).
