  1. FFGs contribution to the rules forum is limited to 51 posts that could have been put into the FAQ.
  2. While this might entirely be the case, isn't Keyforge and Lot5R doing pretty well?
  3. Wondering about the future of the game is one thing, saying it's a dying game is another. I admit, FFG forums shutting down would be scary if FFG was still the developer.
  4. For what it is worth, I have messaged AMG. Basically I just asked two things: 1. I asked that if they could communicate anything with us. Presumably, taking over three games lines is hectic, and they may have some NDAs or need to keep some things confidential. But I simply asked that they communicate anything really, even as small as letting us now when the expect to start making announcements. 2. I asked for them to consider a forum as a way to foster community. I have no expectations, good or bad, on how they will respond, but I figured that it would not hurt to ask. What I can see from AMG is that they do communicate fairly regularly via facebook, twitter, and on their own page which will be nice once they start communicating about our product line.
  5. It would be stupid, but for all we know, they don't even know these forums exist and are getting shutdown.
  6. BoardGameGeek seems to be the default right now, unless AMG surprises with a forum.

    Community Goal

Where would one see the total number of posts?
  8. Ahh... good. I'm glad there will be a way to continue following along.
  9. I'm for it. The main problem is as Canopus laid out. Expansions have their own forum.
  10. A fine idea. Fitting the Cannon-Cannon-Command symbols onto the card might be rough. You could simply do Cannon-Cannon and give it the Hyperspace ring treatment of only being usable in epic.
  11. Reddit actually lead me hear, as it was a little sparse on content and didn't encourage continuing conversation, but rather the "new" and "hot" with anything over a day old getting shuffled to the back.. That's not a dig at Reddit, but just why I prefer the forum better. I've come to respect the opinion of folks here, even when I disagree with them, which is hard to accomplish without a face to interact with. Discord is good for conversation, but bad for archiving.
  12. While I agree, FFG is shuttering all of their forums, so it is plenty likely that Asmodee didn't inform AMG on the shutdown since it isn't just X-Wing.
  13. Does anyone know where I cash in my likes and other reacts? I'm hoping I have enough to get a fidget spinner.
  14. It may be stupid, but this section of the forum is what I'll miss the most. Not just hashing out rulings with you folks, but this was a good resource for anyone to find how X ability worked and how it fit into the queue, and so on and so forth.
  15. Well, as much as some malign the forums, I have enjoyed my time here. I appreciate the conversations and the arguments and nonsense. As always, community has been the greatest part of X-wing, and the forums were an extensio nof that, and I will be sad to see them go. Thanks for the ride. I'll likely be here until the end. Hopefully, AMG will start something and I'll see you all there, but I don't see that in the cards. Definitely cleaning house, as it is all FFG forums being shut down not just the lines that are being transferred to AMG.
  16. Honestly, it doesn't look much better. Their deepfakes of Harrison on Han from Solo are great, and the Tarkin in Rogue One and the CLU from Tron Legacy are pretty dang good. It looks like the deepfake over CGI isn't as strong, but is still an improvement.
  17. Yup. Dooku always. IF you take other upgrades it should be on Contraband Cybernetics, False Transponder Codes, or bombs. Those aren't necessary, and anything else seems excessive.
  18. I'm not certain I follow. Were there any scenes that specifically shined a light that "these are men and that is why this is cool"? I submit there aren't any, and that is how I want my girl power scenes. Completely normalized, treating women equally, not as some special exception. Valkyrie and Hela in Thor: Ragnarok are great examples of this. Both are competent and interesting characters, that assert themselves above Thor and overpower Thor, and it is just accepted. No fanfare. I am not saying there are not moments to shine a light on inequality. Far from it. But it can be tastefully done and in a way that serves the plot. For a good example, see Eowyn defeating the Witch-King of Angmar. The Witch-King had a false sense of security as he believed Glorfindel's prophetic assertion that he would not fall by the hands of man. But in his hubris, he never considered that to mean that a women could kill him, and if he did, he didn't consider that a woman would be brave enough to fight and slay him. But Eowyn was, leading to Eowyn's badass moment of "But no living man am I!/I am no man!" (book/movie). Comparing Return of the King to Avengers, there were plot reasons that Eowyn was in the middle of the battle and why that moment specifically required a woman. In End Game, Spider-Man gets knocked to the edges of the battle, and for some reason every heroine in the series was there, too, not fighting in the battle. Why? What plot sense does that make? Just spitballing to keep the girl power scene but not make it seem like the women were sitting on the sidelines, have Captain Marvel take the gauntlet and have only the women protect her on the way to Scott's van. Showcase each one on the Captain's path to the van, stopping assaults on her along the way. This way the heroines aren't pulled out of the battle, but are still shown as competent and vital to the battle. Drop the fanfare, insert subtlety. Aside from this moment, I think End Game did well with this. Black Widow is shown as the leader of the Avengers post-snap, organizing the superfolks, not Captain America. Hawkeye and Widow are treated as equals, and for what it matters, she outsmarts him. Scarlet Witch and Captain Marvel are each shown single-handedly winning a fight against Thanos, something the combined might of Thor, Iron Man, and a Thor-ified Captain America could not manage as a team. And no attention is brought to to any of those. The two most powerful Avengers are women, but it's not shoved in our face. Very cool.
  19. That's exactly why I didn't like it. 0% subtlety. It didn't make sense. All of the major female characters stopped fighting to line up for a glamour shot, when Capt. Marvel can (and did) handle the situation by herself. Just have women be competent and give them screen time to do it, and it will be noticed. No need for flashing arrows, red circles, and a marquee that says "LOOK, LOOK, LOOK!". However, I did enjoy it in Mando because it didn't call any attention to it. 4 women tearing through a whole capital ship. Thumbs up.
  20. Here here. Gimme Hera in a Y, a B, an A, and an X. B and A take precedence for me.
  21. Advanced Sensor-ing an action turns off your perform action step, or any other actions for that matter. Daredevil with Boost and a hard turn does sound like a good bit of fun though. Ending up unstress after that maneuver is coolio. Nice combo find.
  22. I feel like this is the strongest accomplishment of Rebels. The prequels and the first season of Clone Wars had put me off the anything prequel related. But bringing in Rex, Wolffe, Gregor, Ahsoka, and most importantly Maul with strong character writing made me not want to hate the prequels. It coaxed me into watching the seasons of Clone Wars that I hadn't seen which got better season by season. I know I'm speaking for him, but in my opinion, yes. Wedge and Luke are a very good building block to start from. You can't ignore Wedge because he can hit like a truck, so you want to destroy him because X-Wings, while durable, can go down to focus fire. But if you have Luke in there, you can't let Luke get to the endgame. The longer he is ignored, the stronger he becomes in the end. Thane is great as follow up shooter on those two. Thane's ability has the problem of needing damage card to exist before he shoots, but with Red 2 and Red 5 shooting first, that is likely enough to happen, so he can usually just focus and save it for defense while still causing havoc. i5 is nice, too. I can never get Jake to work for me, but I know others can, and when done well, he can almost ensure that Wedge has focus + lock for a couple of turns. Also, tossing the focus action to foils closed X-wings allows pre-movement boosting for them. Also, all four of those pilots got cheaper in the recent update.
  23. @Wolfshead is our local HoTAC and Flight Group Alpha DM, and I thought he was running a pretty well revamped HoTAC. Hopefully, folks have been able to use some Covid time to put in some revision work on it.
  24. Forgive me then, I thought you meant defense has gotten stronger solely in the context of 2nd edition. My brain doesn't live in the 1st Edition headspace anymore. In anycase, more ships on the board seems a bit of an odd point as more ships equals more offensive power, as well. To counter some of your points, as much as attack power has decreased, defensive power has decreased, as well. Stealth Device now breaks when suffering damage not just when defending. Evade tokens do not add an evade to the dice pool but rather just change a result. Lightweight Frame no longer exists (the biggest nerf to QD). TIE Defenders are limited to 2 in a list and have to fully complete their maneuver AND be able to perform the evade action to get an evade. Palp only turns eyeball results. Soontir is weaker/more situational. Autothrusters don't exist (nerfing every 3 die ace). Most three agility aces don't even have a mod slot to buff their defense. Vader and Kylo don't have the evade action. TIE Phantoms don't get to cloak immediately after they shoot. Lowwhrick's ability is super bad now. Reinforce allows hits through. Rex's condition goes away when anyone shoots him, not just the recipient of Suppressive Fire. R4-D6 doesn't exist. Concord Dawn only works in the front arc and only changes a result to an evade instead of adding one. But more important than anything... ...infinite regen existed. There was a rather infamous final where two players, being unable to put any damage through their regen, played Loopin' Chewie on stream to runout the clock rather than try (even with TLT) to put through damage. I have no qualms with your assertion that offense has declined since 1st Edition, but your assertion that defense is much better than what it was is way off. They both have declined.
  25. Palob and Wedge aren't in hyperspace, but they would work in Extended pretty well. I started tooling around with Palob again last night since the Crow, and he is in the realm of usable points now. Not strong, but usable.
