  1. I like the re-roll droid because it keeps his attacks just a tad meaner. People are less likely to shoot down his throat if his bonus attack has some kind of mod. Opponent chose to forgo attacking him twice in that game which feels like a good path to winning to me.
  2. After flying this list against a Hyena swarm today, I don't think things are too terribly dire for Scum in Hyperspace. Fenn Rau (68) Outmaneuver (6) Dengar (53) Contraband Cybernetics (2) Punishing One (5) R5-P8 (4) Cartel Spacer (25) Ion Cannon (6) Cartel Spacer (25) Ion Cannon (6) Total: 200 View in Yet Another Squad Builder 2.0 Thinking of putting Daredevil on Fenn to fit Expert Handling on Dengar, but I'm sure that's a matter of taste. The Ion M3-As are not optional though, they do an incredible amount of work.
  3. Maarek Stele (46) Fire-Control System (2) Major Vermeil (49) Death Troopers (6) Academy Pilot (23) “Wampa” (30) “Pure Sabacc” (44) Total: 200 View in Yet Another Squad Builder 2.0 This list makes target priority a real chore for your opponent. Send your Academy bro in aggressively to block, keep Vermeil and Wampa close on his heels, hang Maarek back a bit, use Sabacc to flank. It literally doesn't matter who they target first, there are enough dice and nasty tricks on your side of the table to swing any game.
  4. My buddy rocks 3 TUBs with protorps, naked 404, and 32C with Kraken. It does okay.
  5. Maarek is a great endgame piece. Crits are brutal in this edition. Here's a 5 ship list that made the cut at a 40 player hyperspace event: Maarek Stele (46) Fire-Control System (2) Major Vermeil (49) Death Troopers (6) “Wampa” (30) Academy Pilot (23) “Pure Sabacc” (44) Total: 200 View in Yet Another Squad Builder 2.0 Set up Academy and Wampa in the middle, they're your blockers. Place Vermeil to their side, so he can join them in the first engagement. Sabaac sets up to flank, and Maarek tails Vermeil to benefit from possible coordinates. Opponents have a tough time picking targets against this list, and whoever they choose to leave unmolested will punish them for it.
  6. I just tried this: Soontir Fel (53) Ruthless (1) Patrol Leader (68) Patrol Leader (68) Total: 190 View in Yet Another Squad Builder 2.0 Barely won against a mixed Separatist swarm. Toying with the idea of putting Tactical Scrambler on one or both Decimators but I'll probably be better off with the bid. I love Decimators but they are very challenging to fly well without all their crew tricks.
  7. Depends on the meta. At my local store 4 points is a massive bid. Also depends on your strategy. A point-fortress like Anakin or Guri will probably benefit from a large bid in a way that Soontir can't.
  8. Five ship Imperials is really strong. This made the cut at a 40 player Hyperspace trial: Maarek Stele (46) Fire-Control System (2) Major Vermeil (49) Death Troopers (6) “Wampa” (30) Academy Pilot (23) “Pure Sabacc” (44) Total: 200 View in Yet Another Squad Builder 2.0 Six TIE/ln swarms (Howlrunner & Iden) are also very strong.
  9. You're not wrong, but think of the crits that do brutal things to the target and then immediately get flipped. Panicked pilot or direct hit proccing twice will simply ruin most ships.
  10. I really like the x1. Dealing out more crits with every attack is really powerful, 3 agility plus 2 shields protects them from alpha strikes, and their new 1 straight maneuver gives you the freedom to slow roll them the first couple turns. Vader might be my favorite ship in the game right now--at 65 points he's an absolute steal. His best upgrades are pretty cheap too: Hate, FCS, Afterburners are my go-tos. All of the named pilots have their uses, which previous posters have nicely delineated, but Zertik Strom hasn't been mentioned, and that's a shame because he's AWESOME. He is your blocker. Jam him into the thick of it, target lock someone you hate, and you've done your job. Spend his lock during end step to flip a damage card, do it all again next turn. He doesn't need arc on the enemy to be useful, just to be around. Here's a list with 4 x1s I've used with some success: Maarek Stele (46) Marksmanship (1) Fire-Control System (2) Cluster Missiles (5) Tempest Squadron Pilot (38) Fire-Control System (2) Concussion Missiles (6) Zertik Strom (42) Fire-Control System (2) Ved Foslo (45) Crack Shot (1) Fire-Control System (2) Cluster Missiles (5) Total: 197 View in Yet Another Squad Builder 2.0
