Discussion thread: Going too far : generic lists + aceswarm lists
JBFancourt replied to Blail Blerg's topic in X-Wing
It’s largely play style in my opinion. Throw any lists together in a round one joust and you’ll have win by elimination. But that’s high dependency on dice and tournaments have taught us to be more selective. And the fly away and regroup before reengaging They don’t need to add anything. High offense is just highly priced right now. Also they could mess with ship counts and generic count rules. They could easily make the game named pilot heavy. I personally think there’s a purposeful move towards Ace and friends. Not to be all conspiracy but high ship counts is good for business. -
Again, I hazard to point out that the definitive proof for or against evolution really does nothing to settle the question of Chaos vs. Purpose in existence. Really, neither does proving/disproving the veracity of the Bible. Again, I exercise my right to assess the facts of the cases made and make my decision from there. It is wrong to say I must choose all gods or no gods. And there is water above us ... 🙄 But again don’t assume the Bible is a secret science book. Ecclesiastes states the sun rises and sets then hastens to its place to rise again (which of course it does not). Is this proof of fallible scientific understanding? No, rather the Bible doesn’t intend to talk science with people. It’s a document about answering all the things science will never answer, can never answer, and can never prove or disprove. That being said, science and the Bible are not in competition. They’re both true. One’s understanding of science and one’s understanding of the Bible can certainly be at odds tho. If you want to read some of the works of skeptics that became believers, I’d suggest CS Lewis or the Dark Professor himself Jordan Peterson. But of course, you’ll find what you seek. It’s always been so. I’m sure there’s inverse works as well. I’ll not read them, tho. I’m very happy and blessed and surrounded by love. I’ve taken care of the problem of meaningless existence and death, I live life not serving myself. I’m happy with my Master. I have eternal hope. Pierce my ear, Lord, I’ll stay in your employ. There is no succor that your side could ever offer me. No comfort. No help. Just... emptiness and crushing despair and death in the end. Nothing more. My reward for a life well lived? Well, really the same as Hitler’s, just death. The angel and devil turn out to be the same. The only rewards are temporal. Nothing is lasting. And death wins. So my hope is a long shot in your eyes? Fair. But when I’m breathing my last breath before I return to the dust I came from, I will call on Jesus. Vanity of vanities, all is vanity. Ecclesiastes was the book that converted me to Christianity.... Anyway.... Your right God doesn’t exist... you convinced me. 😉

I also like: That it’s friendly for new opponents... they may never shoot at your Kylo the whole game but boy they can hammer away at your TIEs. Avoids NPEs for new players that have no idea how to treat outright swarms/2 ship/ aces lists. Helps to teach target priorities.
-
I’d call it a subset of Ace + mini swarm.

Get the new Vassal Client if having trouble BTW...

Back to wiki??? 🙄🙄

RIGHT?!?! It’s such a fun archetype!

Good Afternoon, Pilots! So, I have been noticing something lately with my recent squad building and games played (casually) online that I don’t know if it is new or just “new” to me. Feel free to comment, and if I’ve missed it thus far then I’m finally now on board. It is the rise of the Minion or Swarmet List Archetype. Basically, it is Ace + some sort of support/tech element + 3 “sturdy” minions (so not TIE/ln fighters or drones). I think this is arising from recent ship releases (especially Xi and LAAT), aces/toys going up, generic efficiency coming down, the general rise of a higher count ship meta making 2-die guns more prevalent. Now there are still all of your other classic list archetypes, too, but I feel this may be the new kid on the block. Here’s some examples: First Order Kylo + Malarus (Xi) + 3 TIE/fos (won a little store even with this recently) Holo/Vonreg + Malarus (Xi) + 3 TIE/sfs Republic 7B Jedi + Warthog + 3 Torrents (Vwings?) ETA Ace + LAAT + 3 Torrents Imperials Vader + Lyttan Dree + 3 BOTE V1s Soontir + Named Striker + Lyttan Dree + 2 BOTE V1s Rebels Unsure, but definitely using the Awing as your 3 ship generic efficiency? Still seems a bit expensive compared to FO, Scyk, Torrent and V1. Luke + Hawk/Title + 3 As? Seppies..... 🤷♂️ Sorry don’t own any. Resistance.... 🤷♂️ Just the Fireball here... idk... stick to As and T70s maybe Scum Fenn Rau + Drea/dorsal + 3 Scyks w/ Autoblasters Clearly not an exhaustive list but centering around those 25 pt sturdy generics. My thoughts: I really like the multiple elements of the game is this archetype! I’d say it’s very cancer free/good clean Xwing fun at its purest, good for new players both to pilot and fight against. Has a fun blend of just general beefiness and ship numbers, but still having the fun and interesting decisions of aces and support. Can be flown really well, but you don’t instantly die if you make a mistake. Five arcs for good coverage. Also, turns out that the 3 agility works pretty good in the general meta right now with lots of 2 die attacks. Anyway.... bored at work. What do you think.

I disagree... I think it can be equipped. Notice the difference between action requirements on Sync Con vs Expert Handling and Daredevil. -

@Mu0n729 Can’t get 9.2 to open... same with a friend. Thx. -
Okay so I’m curious to try selfless As... I know this seems silly but juking that one crit around is actually pretty powerful on a 3 agility ship. About the same as moving 2 hits off of a bwing if you will. Like a group of 2-3 i1s with selfless Hee hee New Squadron (28) Phoenix Squadron Pilot [RZ-1 A-wing] (2) XX-23 S-Thread Tracers (2) Selfless Points: 32 (28) Phoenix Squadron Pilot [RZ-1 A-wing] (2) XX-23 S-Thread Tracers (2) Selfless Points: 32 (28) Phoenix Squadron Pilot [RZ-1 A-wing] (4) Cluster Missiles (2) Selfless Points: 34 (28) Phoenix Squadron Pilot [RZ-1 A-wing] (4) Cluster Missiles (2) Selfless Points: 34 (28) Phoenix Squadron Pilot [RZ-1 A-wing] (4) Cluster Missiles (2) Selfless Points: 34 (28) Phoenix Squadron Pilot [RZ-1 A-wing] (4) Cluster Missiles (2) Selfless Points: 34 Total points: 200

[POLL] Legal Ship Counts: Too High? Too Low? Just Right?
JBFancourt replied to Mattman7306's topic in X-Wing
I’m tempted to vote 3 minimum. But definitely not more than 8 unless you can use a wing tool lol. Sooooo long to move.... I voted 2-8. -
I think it could actually be like Heroic: 1 pt and 2 pt depending on agility. 1 agility = 1 pt 2+ agility = 2 pts

Just because MAN has thousands of gods does not mean there ARE thousands of gods. And yes, I’ll exercise my right (and judgement) to seek the god that I believe is legitimate. 😁👍 But making cases for the Hebrew God was not really my main point, rather that the Hebrew God denies Chaos. And belief in/irrevocable proof of evolution does not disprove God’s existence.

Truth is Truth. Absolute. However, human understanding of what is true is often susceptible to error. One can see that demonstrated in both realms of science and the Bible. So some humility is required... IF the Bible is a Truth then it is in perfect harmony with Scientific Truth ... and all other Truth, if you will. However, one’s understanding of either of these areas is not guaranteed to be so. In fact both of these areas of study can be a lifelong pursuit. And one can hardly claim authority in 20, 30, 40, 100 years of experience what has taken millennia to form. (Or even 10-20 thousand years). Let alone the perfect delineation of how the two interact. Now, I believe in a Creator. I believe in a distinct personage as has been revealed to mankind as described in the Bible. It has been an exercise of both faith and logic, and appeals to my reason. There is evidence. I personally agree and sympathize with the general consensus of religious folk here recently (past 100 years) who smell that “somethin’ ain’t right” with Darwin’s theory of evolution. However, I generally disagree with the “proofs” of it’s error. More importantly, I think it is an irrelevant exercise as a whole. I think it’s misdirected. In an effort to remove the timetables needed for evolution, we NEEDED the Bible to give a starting date of the world and to move the creative process along at a jaunty clip. I think this was not wise... if I can be so bold. IMHO the Bible NEVER states an age of the world, the time table of creation, or the method by which it was created. You must remember: the Bible is NOT a history book or a science book! It is spiritual treatise on the origin and condition of mankind particularly relating to the relationship with the aforementioned personage of an actual deity (not the silly contrivances of man made up in wood and stone). Your understanding of what is scientifically meant (the actual literal process that occurred) when Genesis states YHWH spoke the world into existence is NOT the intended lesson to be given by the ancient text and is found nowhere else in Scripture. Rather it is easily seen as two foundational truths: 1) God is responsible for the existence of the physical realm (especially Man), and 2) The creation is Good (very Good) THE POINT of this Jewish writing (God’s writing IF inspired) was to deny two commonly held truths of the ancient world: that the physical realm is evil and that it originated in CHAOS! 🤣👍 Same place we still are today 😊😊 The fundamental question: is our existence a matter of chaos or purpose? So, yes, I believe in a God that could have made the world in 24 hrs... or 24 nano-seconds... or 24 million years. But for me to DEMAND of Him and rest my faith on a particular method seems unnecessary. So, you have PROVEN to PERFECTION that Darwin-like evolution is TRUTH and silenced all the objections against it. Good. You are still no closer to determining whether or not you exist by an almighty hand or not. Thus why I said earlier that I think the whole exercise is misdirected. I salute you fellow seekers of truth! 😁👍 Judge well. PS - If you’re right, no biggie, we both turn to dust and our existence is forgotten in the crushing oblivion of chaos. If I’m right... You go to **** and I go to heaven... for .... ever??? Lol. 😇👿 PPS - I think the Earth is very old, but that Darwinism is rubbish.
