We all know how destiny has been cancelled and that everyone is feeling salty about it. I just want to explain why I loved this game so much, even if I'm only a casual player.
    1.The Youtube community
    Dicecommando, t3Gaming, the hyperloops, arrowbrookgaming.
these guys made the community look so fun and I think they are the ones who got me into this.
    2. The dice
big fan of them. Why I loved Dicemasters
    3. The gameplay
I know for a lot of people (even me sometimes) all we see is that there is no balance in the game but just making and playing with two BALANCED decks are so fun to play with casually. I love how instead of resolving damage right after activing a character you give the opponent time to react and do something about it. This was such an innovative idea for me.
    4. Star Wars
    self explanatory.
I've decided to step back from bashing ffg for the time I'm typing this and I hope you guys will also take the time to tell others why you played the game.
This game will always hold a special place in my heart since it got me into gaming. Now, I play a bunch of Keyforge, heroclix, transformers, x-wing, and age of rebellion thanks to destiny.

A warning to all CCG designers.  You are not designing MtG, that game took years to grow its Organized Play.  If you want your game to last you must cultivate your player base.  And since you have no clue let me break it down for you.  Your player base is made up of sheep and wolves.  There are always wolves.  If you let the wolves eat all the sheep you soon wont have sheep and once you are down to just wolves its not going to go well.  Feed your sheep.  Invest in your casual players far more than anyone else because you need your casual players to out number your competitive players at a rate of 7 to 1.  Dont worry how many tier 1 players you lose in the first 3 years of the game, worry about the casual players until you have established an optimal number of them.   The casual players need to bringing in more and more casual players.  The Tier 1 players cannot survive without the casual players and they need a lot of them.

    QFT This!
Not to suggest that I don't love the game, I do, but it's only because I play very off and on and always with the same opponent (a buddy of mine) and we very intentionally create unoptimized (theme decks).
For a brief period we didn't do that (my friend made a droid deck just to see how it would play) after which we stopped playing for several months.  Competitive level decks instantly sucked all the fun out of the game.
If you intentionally avoid these sort of decks, find an opponent that the goal is casual fun decks and you stick to that format (self balancing and banning), the game is great, but as it is in terms of a competitive game it's just outright broken and not fun at all to play.
I agree that the main problem with the game from the very beginning is its business model.  Collectable Card Games just don't last.  There are a few that have broken that mold like Magic The Gathering, but for the overwhelming vast majority of CCG's they are dead on arrival.  LCG's and contained card games may not be as popular and economically successful in the short term, but they last.

I finally got into the game this Christmas, sort of.  I bought a bunch of the starters and boosters boxes, that were going for 75% or more off.  So I have a bunch of content, and its kind of cool opening a pack or two every week with my kids. The gameplay itself... eh, it's clean, but sooooo mechanical. The theme here is really pasted on.  I'm not sure that I'd buy another booster display even if they drop to $11 again.
I suspect once the last pack is opened (only 208 more to go!!!), it won't hit the table again. Maybe the competitive aspect is the real driving force, or it could be that it just didn't click for me.
For those of you that invested early and got burned, I am really sorry, it always sucks when stuff like this happens.

The solution is pretty simple, put it on KickStater. You know just how much to make and everyone is happy.
Maybe if they start doing KS with all their new stuff they won't get production shortages?

To those who are angry, I understand your anger but the fact that they have to pay a percentage of their income makes their decision justifiable. To make new or better games, they may have to cut down on some that a lot of people don't really play compared to keyforge, legion, and x-wing which seem to be their babies right now. There really is no good decision here. They just choose the best decision which was to stop production on a game that was more or less a liability than an asset. I understand your anger. I was extremely angry aswell and said the same things, "you lost a customer", never gonna buy an ffg game again". Give ffg a chance. They are trying to compete with wizards of the coast and other great game companies.

I think this is an impossible task to ask of any developer. The game needs to find a footing in the early releases. New mechanics are eventually introduced. Each set or block of sets has a theme. Play styles evolve. Cards get reprinted in later sets. Power creep. It's why almost all CCGs have a rotation and multiple formats. X-Wing 1.0 had to be rebooted b/c nothing from the first few waves was viable. The closest thing from FFG is Armada but that is partly from only having 1-2 releases a year. Each faction only has 11 ships and the game was released in early 2015.

I like the idea of making this a prize kit, but I also hope that FFG can print it up and make a box set for players to purchase too. I have a terrible premonition of there being a distinct lack of product otherwise.

Throughout my life I have seen many a good game drop away, it is hard to understand why and I tend not to care too much to bother. Many times games that do flounder are better than some of the game that do well. Why does DnD do so well when there are significantly better games, or Monopoly exist at all.
Sometimes I think it is just a little bit of luck. I used to go into a game shop on my way home from work and saw a game on the shelf for about 12 months called BattleTech, it just sat there and then one of the guys at my local club showed up with it and we went crazy for it. Years later, I purchased Rogue Trader and played one game of it, then 2-3 years later a friend played some 40k and urged me to give it a try and we were hooked. Even WotC has fun, after Magic (I bailed on it because of price gouging)  we played some Jyhad, Netrunner and Battletech, all came and went.
I think for the most part though you are right, you need to keep the casuals happy and FFG really struggles there, KeyForge showed a lot of promise, but the method of adding chains to decks is terrible, isn't Garfield a PhD in Maths? Around here we have gone from 20 players to 2, and they have just scared the casuals away buy buying cases of decks, it is insane to think that a few players here and there can keep the game going. I think X-Wing was a success and they just model every other game based on competitive X-Wing play.

I agree with you.  But there are a few more who seem to still be trucking on.  Force of Will.  Final Fantasy.  Transformers.  Each of them have a few years on them.  Will minus Transformers.  That's still newer.

Well put!  I don't know if MTG would even survive if it started up this year.  So many companies are just in a hurry to make a quick buck.  Which that's fine.  They need to make money.  But they prematurely kill too many games.  Sad really.  Some of their most profitable games never will be because they don't give them enough time.  Or faith either.

To be honest, my enjoyment of the game had been lacking in the past few months.  I think the fact that they were phasing out the older series as no longer tournament eligible played a big part in that.  If I buy into a game, I want the first wave of products to be as good as the newest ones.  X-Wing is a great example of that.  The Empire is still my go-to faction, even thought we now have four new factions to play with.

I honestly can’t say how deeply seeing this hurts. Business is business, but as a customer and gamer, it’s not business for me. I want to have fun. And every single time I’ve invested my time and effort and joy in one of your products, FFG, you’ve killed it soon thereafter. You aren’t killing a product, your actually killing my joy in gaming. So, FFG, with this announcement, you’ve also killed any of my future interest in any of your games. I simply can’t trust you anymore. I’m going to find a company that invests in the joy of their gamers in the long term. Something you simply have failed to do. All you seem to want is money, but that decision means you won’t be getting any more of mine.

KeyForge isn't going anywhere anytime soon. They fully own the IP, so they're not paying for licensing. Also, it's their fastest selling product ever.

Part of me was expecting this. The game just has too many unused cards. It is obvious in any tcg/ccg that there will be better cards than others but the ratio of used:unused is just staggering. It was a fun game to play casually and now I'm happy I never bought boxes for this game.
I wonder if coolstuffinc knew about this and that's the reason for the sale

So not to make this "dead thread resurrection week" but I came back to this thread after @toxic newbmentioned it in another one.
Just wanted to say all my contentions about this card and its interactions with Might Makes Right were removed by the newest rules update, specifically the new clearly defined destruction process.
Are there still any unresolved questions in that light? I believe everything asked about has been resolved.
