  1. I have done well with the Ten and Braylen because they are good knife fighters. If you put Tactical Officer on Cassian that can get you extra target locks. In my experience, Dutch needs to be in a support role, which is what Cassian needs to do with Leia. This basically takes two ships out of the fight.
  2. I like to use holidays as a creative opportunity to put together lists and pilots I might not normally use. Mother's Day was my first exercise and loved it as one list did not do well, which I expected, but another list surprisingly came out on top against a tough list with a good player. My next holiday theme is Memorial Day, celebrating American men and women who died in battle, next weekend. The challenge is to come up with a list of pilots, co-pilots, gunners, and bombardiers who died in battle for their respective factions. Please add a list you would consider for this theme and comment on what lists have been posted. Here is my offering: T-65 X-wing - •Jek Porkins - 48 •Jek Porkins - Red Six (46) Trick Shot (2) Servomotor S-foils (Closed) (0) BTL-A4 Y-wing - •“Dutch” Vander - 49 •“Dutch” Vander - Gold Leader (39) Ion Cannon Turret (4) Veteran Turret Gunner (6) T-65 X-wing - •Biggs Darklighter - 54 •Biggs Darklighter - Red Three (48) Shield Upgrade (6) Servomotor S-foils (Closed) (0) T-65 X-wing - •Garven Dreis - 49 •Garven Dreis - Red Leader (47) Trick Shot (2) Servomotor S-foils (Closed) (0) Total: 200/200 View in the X-Wing Squad Builder Dutch has been used on other lists because of his target lock ability. I might put Biggs on his wing to absorb some of the hits and keep Dutch flying for as long as he can. Garven and Porkins can either joust or attempt to outflank opponents and then joust from the opponents' rear. Should be interesting XXX group with a Y-Wing in support. Of course all four died in the Battle of Yavin.
  3. I was one of the players who was dropped after the 5th game. I was called to the front and told I would not be eligible for the top 16 because of my rank after 5 rounds. Arthur gave me a bunch of tokens and a couple of damage decks to make up for the 6th match. Later, I heard a couple of players from Alabama complaining about the situation and saw the guy streaming moving his setup as the store filled up with players in a tournament for another game.
  4. With Mother's Day coming up, I thought it would be fun to come up with lists that honor the mothers in the Star Wars Universe. Here is one I came up with: BTL-A4 Y-wing - •Norra Wexley - 53 •Norra Wexley - Gold Nine (41) Expert Handling (2) Ion Cannon Turret (4) Veteran Turret Gunner (6) ARC-170 Starfighter - •Shara Bey - 61 •Shara Bey - Green Four (53) Expert Handling (4) Veteran Tail Gunner (4) VCX-100 Light Freighter - •Hera Syndulla - 85 •Hera Syndulla - Spectre-2 (73) Dorsal Turret (2) •Leia Organa (2) •Lando Calrissian (2) •Ghost (0) Veteran Turret Gunner (6) Total: 199/200 View in the X-Wing Squad Builder Norra Wexley is Snap Wexley's mother Shara Bey is Poe Dameron's mother Leia Organa is Kylo Renn's mother Hera Syndulla is a mother figure to the crew of the Ghost
  5. Is Anakin really going to have many opponents in his bullseye arc to be worth the 10 points Calibrated Laser Targeting costs?
  6. I picked up two ARC-170s on sale recently to use them as Rebel ships and later use in Republic lists. What would be good ships to add to make a competitive list?
  7. My future plans are to swap Ten with Wedge. About the A-Wing, Arvel is probably the best blocker I have seen for the Rebels if not the entire game. The ability to treat failed boosts like partial maneuvers helps position Arvel into range zero bumps into other ships. Then Arvel can shoot who he collided with along with dice mods for Intimidation and Predator. This has more potential for me than a Y-Wing even if its Nora.
  8. In the future, my Hyperspace Rebel list will see Ten swapped out for Wedge. I just need a bit more experience for Wedge to be more effective. Thanks, I'm really looking forward to the Hyperspace Trials.

I am pretty set with either of the lists I posted. Also, I seem to have very bad luck with Y-Wings for some reason. Just for the sake of argument who should Horton replace? Ten or Braylen?
  10. Based on my experience, expand off the Core Set. Either get another T-65 X-Wing and a Y-Wing or two to four TIE fighters. Use generic pilots and no upgrades. The goal at first is to learn how to fly ships on the board because this wins or looses games. Getting named aces and fancy upgrades will cause confusion, distract you during the game, and give you a false sense of security. All of this I learned from hard won experience. Many times I have ditched upgrades in future games because I did not put them to good use during previous games. After six months of playing I feel like I am getting comfortable with aces' abilities and can use a few upgrades that match my style of play at the moment. This will all change as I continue to get more experience.

    I have played both of these lists with success and plan on taking one to a Hyperspace Trial next month. UT-60D U-wing - •Cassian Andor - 51 •Cassian Andor - Raised by the Rebellion (47) Tactical Officer (2) •Leia Organa (2) RZ-1 A-wing - •Arvel Crynyd - 39 •Arvel Crynyd - Green Leader (34) Intimidation (3) Predator (2) A/SF-01 B-wing - •Ten Numb - 59 •Ten Numb - Blue Five (46) Advanced Sensors (10) Hull Upgrade (3) A/SF-01 B-wing - •Braylen Stramm - 51 •Braylen Stramm - Blade Leader (47) Shield Upgrade (4) Total: 200/200 View in the X-Wing Squad Builder or UT-60D U-wing - •Cassian Andor - 51 •Cassian Andor - Raised by the Rebellion (47) Tactical Officer (2) •Leia Organa (2) T-65 X-wing - •Wedge Antilles - 58 •Wedge Antilles - Red Two (52) Afterburners (6) Servomotor S-foils (Closed) (0) RZ-1 A-wing - •Arvel Crynyd - 39 •Arvel Crynyd - Green Leader (34) Intimidation (3) Predator (2) A/SF-01 B-wing - •Braylen Stramm - 51 •Braylen Stramm - Blade Leader (47) Jamming Beam (0) Shield Upgrade (4) Total: 199/200 View in the X-Wing Squad Builder They are diverse lists and fun to fly. When I get some more practice I will probably be using the second one more often than the first one.
  12. Our store had its Spring Hyperspace Tournament yesterday as precursor to a Hyperspace Trial in two weeks. I was debating between two lists for yesterday's tournament. The one I liked and have played well consisted of two B-Wings (Ten and Braylen), an A-Wing (Arvel), and a U-Wing (Cassian with Leia and Tac Officer) was set aside for another list a forum recommended. This list included Wedge in a T-65 X-Wing, Braylen in a B-Wing, Jake in an A-Wing, and Cassian in a U-Wing with Leia and Tac Officer. In my first match, my opponent played a similar list and loved to create a jam with lots of blocks. This kept me from opening up space for Wedge (who was flanking) and Jake to do their thing to get good shots. Wedge went down and I lost half points on the other ships. Because I could not get shots off I only managed to get a few points. I do have to give my first opponent credit because he is a good player and eventually won the tournament. In my opinion, Arvel could have changed things with his ability to attack at range zero along with boosting or barrel roll into that range zero shot. I am sure my opponent would not have been so eager to block up all of my ships in order to stay away from Arvel. My opponent would have probably won anyway but I could have scored more points. My opponent in my second match had five RZ-2 A-Wings and did not have experience using the A-Wings. He did take out Cassian early but it did not hurt me as much as he thought it could. I was able to regroup and positioning my ships for good attacks and was starting to chip away at the A-Wings. For some reason, my opponent sacrificed an A-Wing by flying it off the boards in a puzzling maneuver because this guy is also a good player. My strong counter attack was able to frustrate him because he could not inflict as much damage on my ships as he expected. The only way he won the match was he got a lucky dice roll in our last turn that killed Braylen and he won by eight points. Yesterday's list is good but I need more practice to become effective with it. Also, Arvel will replace Jake in the A-Wing because he is a better blocker and allows Wedge to be a more effective flanker. Live and learn.
  13. I was misquoted plus I was young and stupid. The action was not a double boost but Jake's card could be misleading.
  14. I am going to fly the list below at an upcoming Hyperspace tournament. It has proven to be the best for my current style of play after trying one other list. My question is whether to take away the tactical officer to give Ten Numb a shield upgrade instead of the hull upgrade to postpone possible crits during the game and save points. This would also allow me to give Braylen Crack Shot, which he may need since he likes close quarters combat. However, Tac Officer can give target locks and focuses to friendly ships as well. Plus, I have seen many other U-Wings with only Leia. Thoughts? UT-60D U-wing - •Cassian Andor - 51 •Cassian Andor - Raised by the Rebellion (47) Tactical Officer (2) •Leia Organa (2) RZ-1 A-wing - •Arvel Crynyd - 39 •Arvel Crynyd - Green Leader (34) Intimidation (3) Predator (2) A/SF-01 B-wing - •Ten Numb - 59 •Ten Numb - Blue Five (46) Advanced Sensors (10) Hull Upgrade (3) A/SF-01 B-wing - •Braylen Stramm - 51 •Braylen Stramm - Blade Leader (47) Shield Upgrade (4) Total: 200/200 View in the X-Wing Squad Builder
  15. I tried this list in my LGS' Hyperspace Tournament. While the Wedge, Braylen, Jake, and Cassian list has merit, it will take much practice to execute because of the nature of the ships. I will try this list again in the future because it has the potential of being a tough but fun to fly list. The major change is substituting Arvel for Jake because Wedge is a better flanker than Jake. For now I will use Ten, Braylen, Arvel, and Cassian because it would been more effective today and I enjoy flying it.
