So I have just read the book and it states for the Baradium charge:
"Anything engaged with the charge when it detonates should add +50 to any subsequent critical injury or critical rolls."
It doesn't state it inflicts a critical but any that occur get +50. Considering that it would likely knock down a player outright it would then indeed inflict a critical adding +50 to the roll. The shaped charged would likely act the same.

    Y'all made my day.
I logged in and was notified of several reactions to the previous post and I see (as of this writing) that I have one of each reaction.
Nice!  All I'm missing is a "Thank You" reaction and then I'll have covered all bases for that post.

For those of you who are new, confused, or sad, keep in mind that I've altered the rules for my Star Wars game a bit.  I actually have 2 pages of rules addendums and alterations already documented out and I'm getting ready to roll out and test ablative energy shield rules too.
I do like the overall framework that FFG set up but I'm finding that some details need alteration in order for me to make this game work long term.
    "Pray I don't alter it further . . ."

You mention other skills the character uses, think which characteristic this is and chose the path that best suits. Like you said you can always go across careers for specializations.
You mentioned not having much use of lightsaber skills early on but remember the ancient sword in the FAD book uses the lightsaber ability. Flavour it that this is your character dulling weapon from the ancient tradition and that might work.

Luckily none of my players have picked up a sig ability yet but balance between careers seems off...

I also don't like how you are locked into your careers' sig ability only as a character concept can change completely during play of extended campaigns.

I am currently in a PBP and big pauses by other players are somewhat killing the experience. I appreciate other people have activities outside the game but we all committed to once a day posting but we don't tend to see this...

Like it was said above consistency is key.

MrTInce got a reaction from Tramp Graphics in Can the clones breed?
I always thought it weird that it was the clone troopers we saw as clones and others didn't use this technology.

In my game I created (kind of on the fly) a large supermarket chain that is operated by clones of the owner: "Satoshi's General Sundries and Droids". It's been a source of great amusement for my players as each department is ran by a "different" Satoshi (Doctor Satoshi, Hunter Satoshi, Mechanic Satoshi, Manager Satoshi). I think this was inspired by Nurse Joy from Pokémon...

I also wonder the delay is caused because it all has to be checked by lucas films to ensure it doesn't contradict anything from canon.

    Excellent point.

I do have all the books but to me they cover different parts of the universe. The comparison with D&D is thus:

3 books from star wars is the three settings, with rules to play the game in EACH one.

3 books from D&D gives you rules to play but no settings or real lore.
For D&D to get the settings you are investing into extra books and even then there isn't that much for settings outside of adventures.

D&D do printed adventures more frequently which is something I want more from FFG!

    Some ideas spring to mind.
One is to give them a holocron then it can't join them and it will only act as a mentor.
The other is to have a mentor who has no force powers but knows all the lore (librarian or researcher type).
Lastly if he is a force user with training he would have been around before order 66 so he could be quite old and unable to get involved in much.

You know you can just tell them to use whats in the book, right? My gang and I just made a rule saying that nothing could be used which one of us did not own.
We've been building the collection up over time, so now we have a lot of the books. We stand by our rule, though, and anything we don't own or can't reasonably home-brew is banned from play. This keeps me as a GM having to workshop too much and also makes sure that the publishers still get paid (as a content creator, I know simply downloading is bad for business and I like what FFG does, so I want to support them where I can).
That would be my recommendation for salvaging the present campaign. Just pull the GM veto.

They could be the go-between from getting the death star plans from the Bothan to the rebels.

Meet on a planet, find contacts, chased by imperials, get on ship, space battle, hyper space.

...or would need it. If you dumb the Holonet down to 1977 standards and focus on it's primary function, Live extreme range holo communications... Well I like my great grandma on Kal'Shebbol just fine... but she can just get subnet text dumps for single digit credits. If I really want to see her I can just rent an hour in a holo-booth at EmpEx for Life Day for less than the cost of a lobster dinner...

MrTInce reacted to penpenpen in Rule question: failed check with triumph
It could be as simple as the person missing the main thing to notice but spots something that hints at it. Such as failing to notice the ambush waiting in a room but notices that the door is rigged to close behind them.
Essentially, on a meta level, the PC gets to act on the player knowledge that they failed a check. I like it!

The problem you may find playing a healer is what to do when you are not healing. Consider what else they will be doing rather than just healing.

One of my players is the tank/melee expert of the group with an impressive 8 soak and good use of the sense ability. He recently annoyed a gank assassin after beating him in combat with the rest of the PCs (great fight scene!) that resulted in him losing his cybernetic arm.

The assassin is coming back and but the PC is only stronger with a lightsaber. The assassin is clever and strong but what kind of things could he do to counter the force user/balance the scales?

I'm thinking cortosis armour/weapons but want other things.
