Today we're dipping into Legends with one of the original major antagonists of the Clone Wars back in the days of the EU:

I'd like a better droid species rules. Rather than a basic profile you pick a sub species and each has its own stat block.

    1) I would say successful attack inflicts damage, most qualities like crits require a successful hit.
    2) I read it as including the round they were caught.
    3) I would say you are maintaining the "action" the hold the person but could take a limited pool of manoeuvres. Cover behind the victim, gaining purchase to increase brawn difficulty.
    4) Becomes a brawl check with setback, likely as they are attacking someone behind them.

The game advantage of the YT-1300 and other popular ships is that there is typically an easy access to a good deck plan.

In my group we always joke that the character looks down the weapon like a scope (or pool cue) then lunges. Silly but enjoyable.

I find in this system the great unbalancer can be equipment.

In the aftermath of the OT, countless worlds had been ravaged for their raw materials/resources in order to construct two Death Stars. Your scientist could have pioneered some advanced terraforming project to restore these worlds to their pre-Imperial state, or developed a cloning technique for bringing species driven extinct by Imperial strip-mining back to life, etc.

Racing in this system isn't great and I ran it similar to above and you are right, turn by turn make little difference. What I did instead was use a grid system, mapped out the course. Your speed is how many grids you travel in a turn. A roll is made each turn to maintain/increase/decrease speed. Rolls that are made are half-silhouette and speed as per standard piloting checks.
    Where's the challenge?
If two characters are near each other they make opposed rolls to inflict setbacks on each other. Terrain on the track add setbacks. Corners add set backs. Aswell as any other actions other players may think of such as ramming, getting in front and slowing down etc...
I know using a grid goes against the systems abstract nature but for me it was the best way to handle it.

I will echo the sentiment of players choosing species for their numbers. I think high agility species are generally favored because most combat skills and the piloting skills are linked to this skill.

I would set difficulty at the skulduggery/survival of the character(s) who set it.

Reading through the posts I can see a theme that all the problems with XP come with making combat easier. Characters get too powerful and Darth Vader suddenly seems less scary (but remember that three red fear check!).
In the group I GM for we have two combat heavy players (Sniper and Tank) and three non combat specialists (Mechanic, Doctor, Pilot). Yes combat can feature a lot but if we have to remember the other challenges that should occur through play. So if you holding back players with 2-4 XP (such a weird number for this system) then how will it ever be interesting because it seems like they will be rolling the same dice pool for sessions at a time.
My mechanic rolls 4 yellow on a regular basis on his rolls so I ensure he is doing difficult work. Throw in some red die for fun! If characters aren't getting to these skill levels then how can you ever justify a red die?

I can't remember the source but something else I once read about the Jedi's power diminishing was because of their great numbers. You have 10,000+ people calling upon the Force and there can only be so much to go around.
Palpatine had more power because he called upon the dark side and there was more of that to go around.

    RAW yes.
I forgot to include this rule and so didn't in my current (and first) campaign. Next time I will.

I find droids a great source of fun and my players have more droids than PCs living on their ship. Mainly because every time they defeat one they drag it back to the ship and reprogram it. This results in all potential mischief.
The protocol droid my players has was programmed in psychiatry and so we have RP moments of it trying to get the drug addict to stop with addiction.

I've got the worst of both worlds.  My players will spend half an hour coming up with a meticulous plan; then in less than a minute, someone will do something completely contradictory to what they'd settled on.
