It would be *really* nice if you could add individual models and cards to your collection instead of just adding by expansion. Considering the number of folks converting from 1.0, generics in conversion kits not matching dial counts, etc. and all the trading/secondary market action that is likely to happen as a result, I have trouble imagining the 'by expansion' collection is actually sufficient/desirable for very many people.

Right now, I can see I have 4-LOM on board but when I hover over him, the tool tip just shows '4-LOM', which I already know. I'd really like it to show me the card or bring up the rules text so I can figure out what he does. There doesn't appear to be a way to review what you're chosen upgrades do without clicking on them to look at them in the 'choose upgrade' screen. Mercifully, the currently chosen upgrade is shown at the top of the list when you go to that screen, however it would be so much better if you could just hover over (quick-press on mobile) any upgrade on your ship to see what it does.

When choosing an upgrade, I think the system should support a concise view which lets me see many more upgrades on screen at once. Right now, for each upgrade, it shows a big picture, the name, all the text and has a place to mouse-over to see the real card. This is not going to scale well to many upgrades, it's already a bit unpleasant scrolling to find things. I would suggest that the list just contain a single line per upgrade which lists the Upgrade cost, name and then has a place you can mouse over (quick press on mobile) to bring up the card and another to see the text/errata/whatever if that's needed. This would let you see many more upgrades on screen at once for quick scanning/scrolling/picking with the ability to 'dive-in' for more details when needed.
The current interface could be retained as an option by having a user setting (upgrade view: Concise | Expanded) and/or a toggle you can use in the upgrade selection screen itself for switching views.

I get that you might want the install size to be low, and that download-on-demand might be a good way to mitigate install size...
... but FFS, they didn't think to KEEP the data on the phone once downloaded? It's mind boggling how such a stupid decision could be made for such a simple application.
I worked in mobile game development for years, and I just feel sick to my stomach when I think about what sort of awful development environment it must take to turn out an application of such incredibly poor quality that the Play Store is automatically filtering it out of searches.
Absolutely disgraceful. There's some people to blame, but I can bet you it isn't the QA team or the developers themselves; it's arrogant and thoughtless executive decisions that lead to rubbish as stunning as this.

I am disappointed in the bugs, but I'm actually far more disappointed in the design and interface of the app.  It's CLUNKY. All the scrolling, the ridiculously large text, just the totally alien nature of it.  I would have thought FFG would look at all the designs that were most popular and emulate them, or even hire one of the popular designers to build their app.  It seems everything about it is wrong and I find it difficult to be happy with it on any level now or in the future unless they kill it dead and start fresh.  I'm a big fan of the game, but this really is a total $#!+show.

The worst part is, if I have to use this crAPP for tournaments then I think I just wasted $150 on conversion kits because I simply don't want to bother using something so amazingly sub-par.  It's like eating a gourmet meal with a spork.  Actually, with the bugs, it's a chipped spork (though I know they're getting cleared up).  I'm just so disappointed.

Personally, I'm still clinging to original box storage as much as possible. I know most people probably prefer plano/foam for their ships but the original box is still a really nice size for dials and tokens. You can fold construction paper to make channels, 2" for 2.0 dials, 1.5" for small tokens. Here's my Rebel box in progress with the dial channel updated to fit 2.0.

DarthHenryAllen reacted to JJ48 in Is 2.0 aimed at casuals, competitive players or both?
As a strictly casual player, I couldn't have said it better myself.
You know, not everyone who's a casual hates complexity in games...
Competitive players may have been the loudest voice FFG listened to (or not.  I don't know), but there's still plenty for casuals to like, too.  Whether a player prefers 1.0 or 2.0 is simply a matter of personal taste, and has little to do with whether the person prefers casual or competitive (though competitive players may be forced to upgrade due to lack of 1.0 tournament support, which wouldn't be a problem for casuals who don't wish to switch).
This is huge for me.  In First Edition, there were ships that simply wouldn't work at all unless your opponent was intentionally playing a weak list.  In Second Edition, some ships are still weaker than others, but all of them at least seem playable to the point of being able to have a little fun before they're destroyed.
Also, it appears to me that actions and tokens are a bit less efficient in 2.0.  My hope is that there's a little less, "Every single turn I just perform the exact same actions and get the exact same token stack," and a bit more, "I have several good (but mutually exclusive) options, so I actually need to make a real choice of what I want to do this turn."

I would say it's aimed at both too. That said, whether it is worthwhile for a casual player very much depends on the player. I'm strictly casual but there are so many small changes that appeal to me it feels totally worthwhile and like it will breathe new life into older waves as well as making the game better overall. Some selling points for me, off the top of my head; More maneuvers for older ships, more actions on some ships, linked actions, ship abilities, dials where you can see all the options at once, rotating turret arcs replacing 360 turrets, force mechanics, calculating droids, and the general re-balancing.

DarthHenryAllen got a reaction from Damo1701 in What happens when you try to load a squat that is no longer legal due to a slot removal?
I'm wondering what should happen when you load a squad that has a ship using a particular slot and the current version of the rules has removed the slot from said ship?
I'm curious what should happen as well as if this has been tested.
I think it would be nice if the squad still loaded 'intact' but you see an alert symbol somewhere telling you the squad is not legal (whether it be due to points changes or slots). Then you can hover over the alert to find out what errors have been found. To fix the slot issue, you pick the slot that has an upgrade and choose no upgrade. At this point, the slot can disappear. I think this is nice as it lets the user control loss of data (removal of the upgrade) in case they decide they want to preserve the squad for playing their own legacy format or just to check what is changing before updating it (as it could drastically change the relevance of the squad).

DarthHenryAllen got a reaction from Kanawolf in Missed opportunities in 2.0
Not a huge deal but I think having generic tokens for each ship instead of per pilot was a bit of a missed opportunity. We have to use Ship ID tokens every game now anyhow (in order to associate locks with ships) so it seems like we don't really get much value from the initiative value and pilot name being on the token. This would have saved space in conversion kits for other things!
Speaking of conversions and Ship ID + Locks, I like the new system but I'm disappointed that there aren't any of these in the conversion kits with the core set only having values 1-6 included. Obviously I can use the old tokens/method so it's not like it is a disaster or anything, just feels like a couple more in the core or in each conversion would have been perfect.
