With as much as you complain about how bad the empire is,  why do you even play them at all? No matter what unit is being talked about, you always bring up unit x in this faction is better. So play those factions and stop whining about how empire isn’t op.
Personally I’m excited to see how well kallus will work with a Vader or emperor, or iden or with 1-2 operatives.
First impression looking at it, he looks to be a flexible commander that can be utilized in multiple ways on the battlefield, but he’s not a beat stick. Contingency looks like it will really work well with Vader in particular.

You are. In my opinion of course.
Not to continue to hijack the original post, but to answer your take on 1.5:
We got a lot.  Armada was already a great game.  A 1.5 lets us keep the bones we love without wrecking everything all at once. It is already quite a lot:
Pass token activation changes and SA\Bail\Pryce elimination
Two new factions (That now have to be balanced in to the game forever more)
A living rules document(That may allow for quicker changes and errata and faq a la Legion)
    Evade token changes
    Ace Fleet building change
    Intel change
Loads of upgrade changes (that EACH have to be balanced within the existing structure)
The thing I take most exception to is calling the effort 'half-assed' . There are always going to be some issues with things, but at this moment (with the exception of some physical issues with the product) the whole endeavor seems like a great success.  I have never seen such excitement for the game locally or online.

they do comparable damage against red saves, the AT-ST gets slightly more damage on average 2.81 vs 2.72 (because of the surge), the Saber gets slightly more against Red saves with armour 2.67 vs 2.40 (because of the increased impact), the difference is tiny for a one shot comparison, if you go for a 2 shot average comparison then you start to see a difference because the Sabers missiles are on cycle, you cannot fire them every round.
Over 2 turns the AT-ST does an average of 5.62 damage against red saves and 5.34 against red saves with armour. A Saber will do only 4.49 damage against red saves and 4.17 damage against red save with armour, this is clear advantage to the AT-ST.
    (averages done on https://swlegion.space/ )
The other main difference between the units comes when you look at their defense, the saber has an effective health of 18 whereas the AT-ST has an effective health of 16.5, this is the advantage that the saber has over the AT-ST
Taking both of these together, in a one on one and just shooting the Saber would take an average of 7.9 rounds to kill an AT-ST, an AT-ST would take an average of 6.7 rounds to kill a Saber,
This is reflected in the costs of these builds, 180 for the Saber (saber with AP Shells) and 190 for the AT-ST (AT-ST with Hammer Pilot and 88 twin light blasters) as i think that these are the best builds for these platforms for killing other heavies.
In summary, anyone saying that the Saber does way more damage and kills the AT-ST every time is talking out their butt and has no idea what they are on about.

The battle refit seems like it could be cheap fire support if you just add a turbolaser. Perhaps rather than a dedicated flanker you can use several in a gunline or in support of your main ships?
Add slaved turrets for a 58 point ship that can confire for 5 red dice out the front. Kracken can provide a bit of dice correction.
LTT is tempting for consistency and to give you the capability to absolutely nuke a squadron that comes too close.
Battle refit's advantages/disadvantages over a corvette appear to be:
+ tankier (brace) + better single arc firepower (front 3 red)  + excellent flak - poor maneuverability - poor double arc firepower To me all of this seems to point to a ship that flies in formation directly supporting your larger ships.

    Hang on.
All this has been available to clones right from the get go, and never really taken off. Activations have always been seen as more important.
Until they got phase 2s with overwatch and standby sharing abuse, clones werent seen as competitive by any of the leading players. Once phase 2 standby abuse became available, everyone switched straight to it. Still very little fire support occuring.
Now that standby abuse is banned, maybe we will see fire support looked at again, but it still conflicts with activations. Fives is great, but that means hes hogging a crucial order that a tank or padme or anskin or obi probly needed a lot of the time.
By all means, if in 6 months the data shows hes way too good then give him a price hike. But theres a few things working against him too.

They could, but they probably won't, and probably shouldn't because there aren't that many land vehicles that are different enough to expand the game. The one thing that AMG makes is a game with literally hundreds of characters. It has and almost never ending lifespan. Star Wars on the other hand has a handful of characters a bunch of no-names on the side. One of the problems with Star Wars in the new movies, is it that you essentially re-released all of the same old vehicles or make copies 40 year old vehicles. They won't sell enough of the game to make it worth their while

I haven't personally used it, but I think Snowtroopers with the T-7 Ion might be viable now.  The cost has been decreased 14 points from what it was at launch and the range has been increased to 3.  With Steady, they can Recover>Move>Shoot every round.  If Snowtroopers ever get a Captain like the Stormtrooper Captain, they could also equip Offensive Push and be unable to be Suppressed ever, with a free aim every round (so that's unlikely to happen lol).

I see both sides of the argument - I’m just along for the ride of whatever comes out. I like the landspeeder aesthetic. This I need to see the model to be able to weigh in on how cool/awful it looks.

That would be called stop power creep and just make things pointed more fairly. Empire has some pretty fun toys at their disposal, and if they “suck” it’s due to the costs involved in bringing them. Don’t encourage it with even more creep.

What happens when it walks over a barricade? Or a shipping container? Tilt the whole top-heavy thing on top of it? A vehicle with this foot print would not be able to interact with a typical Legion table in a way that isnt game breaking. Not to mention how would you assign points to something that big? ESB establishes that even airspeeders (which in the game have Impact and critical surges) cant harm an AT-AT with their blasters. How much health would it have? 20? 30?!
I think AT-ATs dont belong at Legion scale except as terrain pieces. Armada got away with the SSD becuase they already use a sliding scale, the terrain is sparse and 2D, and also it still looks stupidly small next to Star Destroyers.

Tell that to every single online retailer that exists. There have been many, many examples recently of bot scalpers snatching up the majority of a release of a product. Because how would someone prove they're a real person to a web store, in a way that couldn't be faked by a bot? And all online retailers limited the new consoles to 1 per person, and yet scalpers got the vast majority of them.
And even if they were somehow able to limit these to 1 per real person, they still would have been scalped, probably at about the same rate that they currently are.

This is part of the point I was making actually Yes, mistakes often cause this, but no other faction can punish a slight mistake so brutally at that range. As I said:

The misstep the last time I saw this?

Deploying GG behind a piece of LoS blocking terrain with a window nearby. The scout 3 of the Arcs and the scout 2 provided to the Phase 2s by Rex lined up a firing lane on that side of the board. The commander was unable to block LoS through the terrain due to how far the Arcs and Phase 2s were able to move during deploy and how far their weapons could reach. As the players were measuring I was able to discern that nowhere, except the furthest edges of the deploy zone, would have prevented a FS shot for more than a single round. Even with the LoS blockers in place.

These are not from this match in particular but to give an idea of what terrain typically looks like (because we often hear, "well you don't have enough terrain, then")

All of this to say, yes, mistakes happen. None of our players are experts, but the level of power the clones can leverage off of a situations like that is "unfun". And they happen more often than you'd think.

The player isn't a bad guy, maybe a little aggressive. I can't speak for the other players, but as one of the few people who wants to play him, I know the main reasons the game becomes frustrating for me are listed in the things I posted above. (Token sharing creates optimal attacks and defenses, chip shots end up putting through 3-4+ wounds, concentrating on a unit to kill it off ends up getting surged or dodged away.) Fire support can outright end units and is easy to set up off the scout deploys. This isn't to discount his skill, he is good. He uses precision while he plays, but I can say the mechanics of the faction play a major roll.

That's a bit rude, but hey, you do you. I don't try to dictate how other people enjoy things. As for the players thinking of selling out, they are both Imperial players. Suffering losses to every faction. On a 20+ loss streak? (I can attest that they have changed units and tactics as well, it's not like they're just stuck on an old meta type.)

They've all played many matches against clones. All the way up to 3 or 4 matches into the ARC meta. That's where most tapped out. I think what players were learning is that the situationally dependent "solutions" offered by the forums and podcasts didn't prevent the mechanical strength of the clones from over running them. On multiple occasions.
Maybe worthless to you, but I suspect they may carry some insight into why this subject keeps coming up. As for covid, in Ohio the outbreak didn't really even start until March, in our local area which has a low population density, cases didn't start to climb until last month. Players wear masks, have sanitizer available, and must schedule time and exclusive space to play. The owner followed all the guidelines provided by the state. We've had plenty of matches since October last year.

This is actually a great addition to this conversation. As a droid main I very rarely lose. I suspect droids, especially after getting buffed, as in a really good spot in terms of power. Skilled players in our group always have a discussion about the odd and ends of the match. Our group is fortunate to have good people who want to teach and have fun as well. It' good to see this is a common practice.
Thank you. Yes we are very fortunate, our numbers have doubled since the outbreak which is not a common occurrence in these circumstances. (most additions have been in the last 4 weeks even, which strikes me as weird).

You are correct. However I will say, standby sharing was never the issue here. Our best clone player has used many archetypes over the course of clones being out. What took off with other players was the 10-11 activation turn 0 token gen lists and that's what most of the clone meta looked like locally. I suspect that with the turn 0 gen gone, we'll see a better response to clones. That said, knowing how many units farm tokens passively, I don't know if this will effect stigma clones face  locally because they can still do everything they could do before, just not as easily.

It's an interesting thought. I'm not sure if he'd be up for it. He bought in to play clones, but maybe I could talk him into coaching players? This player in particular has used Obi-Barcs, Obi Rex, and Rex Padme lists over the last year if I recall correctly. As the meta shifted and new units were released we saw less of Obiwan. I think the only time I've seen him since ARCs have been out is in a Grand Army format. As Khobai said, 1 pip turns aren't really a deterrent. Less so with Padme and coordinate which give the faction some flexibility when they need it.

I appreciate your openness about it. Me personally? I don't mind losing. I play droids. Part of the fun of playing droids is slogging as many B1s at your opponent as you can and watching them chew through them. I LOVE the thematic of CIS vs GAR ( I bought that dope Geonosis terrain after all!). That said, other players are getting annoyed with the faction and if players are frustrated enough to leave that's an issue that needs discussed.

Some people come to play a casual game and getting your teeth kicked in because it was impossible to block  LoS to a commander at range 3-4 from every angle the scouting clones could achieve, doesn't foster that setting.

See above in the post for our terrain. Plenty of LoS blockers and heavy cover.

I can't be definitive, but it seems to me part of the problem is LoS blockers can be circumvented by setting up firing lanes or scouting to angle around them. The last time this happen GG was blocked from the deploy, but scout 3 and 2 respectively on 2 units made enough of him visible to land the shot.

This is great news we'll pass it along. We couldn't find anything in the RRG that stated that the timing trigger of "At the end of a unit’s activation" was triggered by that line from fire support because it was past tense. Moving forward we'll take this in consideration.

A big thanks to everyone who replied! I honestly didn't expect to come back to 6+ people with replies to my comment. I appreciate all the input, and if I missed your comment I apologize. lol

I agree but I hardly ever see tactics or play styles brought up in these discussions. And I don't mean that in a snarky "get good" way. I mean actual discussion of what, if anything, can counter balance some of the experiences. We shouldn't be so defensive, I mean this in general & not directed at anyone specific, if we say I did this with a unit, this happened, and someone offers that they try something else. If at the end of that there is still general consensus of OP elements then updates are probably warranted.
Personally I used to hate playing against Grievous. He could hide behind LOS blocking terrain to approach, then double move, drop in, and, with his 1 pip, kill my commander and suppress or panic every trooper unit at range 1. He could literally take out half my army in a single activation. I've seen it happen. Instead of defaulting to Grievous is OP and must be nerfed I tried adapting my play when I'm facing him. Now when I play against him I have a better experience because I changed the way I interact with that unit.

I frankly don't think there's a problem yet.  There are some really powerful combos.  If you were a new player, the first thing I would tell you is - "Hey, watch out for these guys, they've got double dice on their weapons and with this one card, I can reach out and tap you at range 3. You may want to play around them til you get the hang of it"
Who tries to demolish a new player in their first 3 games anyway?  We all know the answer to this, but that's not the designer's fault, that's the individual players.
If you strip everything the designers put into the GAR development, then they become even more bland (clones that already look and feel the same are already boring enough)
The designers stated at the beginning of the game that the feel of the game would be determined by the characters and heroes of the universe, not necessarily the faceless troopers.  I don't know if that will continue to hold true, but buff the characters (like they've been doing) but don't strip the faction completely, its already the least interesting faction in many ways.

yeah, there's pros and cons with everything.  I hate it when I roll blanks on literarily every red die I own for the first 3 turns and lose most of my GAR or Imperial units, That makes for an uphill battle as well.
This game is designed to have units wiped out.  The Designers made it that way.  They don't want the game to last 4 hours.  They've spoken to this many times before.  I don't see an issue.  If you lost a stormtrooper unit on that side, push hard with the rest of the units there and make them pay.  GAR units lose a lot of efficiency as soon as they take casualties. Make them take casualties.  I thought that was the point of having snipers, is you could almost always get damage through on their units.
I wish some of us would get to play more games instead of just talking about playing games.

The MTT falls into the same awkwardly large size category that the LAAT and AT-TE fall into.
They could make them, and I'm sure some people would buy them, but they would be so large that they would be a struggle to navigate around/over terrain. Not to mention the base being large enough to displace an entire army.

It doesn't have to be due to a new unit though, an upgrade is equally likely, such as an "upgrade pack" for using Wookiee with GAR.
In general, we have been getting rules addition on a just in time basis (or very late), but introducing a new trooper type as part of the V2 RRG makes some sense, especially as a change that effectively has no innate effect.
[Edit: It could further have been part of a draft, not meant to be included in this release, but since the devs were laid off they couldn't fix it. Recall that the FAQ was a bit of an omnishambles, being changed fairly significantly the day after their initial release. Also, since they were dramatically changing the Wookiees anyway, it makes some sense to include the zero effect errata change of the trooper type rather than change them again later, or risk the change not being released in time for a later unit.]
Heck, the reason for the change could be the opposite, that Lando has a Command card that is meant to only affect standard troopers, so changing the trooper types keeps the Wookiees from being eligible.

I have to disagree. Raid tokens are highly annoying and they do achieve something. Namely, they disrupt the oppontent's plan. They can prevent command dials to be executed which can be very useful. Not devastating, but game changing under the right circumstances.

A lot of the hostility toward your comment comes from how you are constructing your arguments in subsequent responses.
In conflict resolution, you focus on defining the conflict. Who is against who, what is against what, because then we can make legitimate progress and maybe find common ground. In this situation, you are making an argument of "this card versus the in-game mechanics", at least originally. Your first post was well done, and your point was taken.
When another player comes in with a different argument about how the card works, with legitimate understanding, and again pitting card against what we have available for in-game mechanics, your response pivots the conflict and makes it much more hostile. Instead of interacting with the card honestly, you make assertions that they arent a spokesperson for all armada players (we know this), FFG makes mistakes (we know this), all the while using very condescending language and accusatory tone. If you had presented in-game evidence, examples of other errata, poorly worded text that involves omission of interaction, then no one would have reacted the way they did. And honestly everyone has been remarkably calm given how hot you came in with your response.
I have no dog in this fight, but I felt compelled to say something after you claimed people here were being overly hostile. I'd suggest you reread your responses and think about how you can move the conversation forward instead of undermining other positions by claiming they arent everyone, because we know that.
I thought your original post was very well worded and edited. I would have wanted you to continue your argument with counter examples because I was a fan of how you presented your opinion originally.

Every example or description of it that he gives is ideal anti armor build with permanent dodge tokens and Padmé/R2 support, and uses that against the atst. Your not going to be able to get any solid argument out of him beyond that.
