  1. $150 CAD for this is still too expensive in my opinion.
  2. Yeah yeah, the tired old "board games are to get away from technology" excuse. Board games are for social interaction. Has nothing to do with screens or apps or banning devices. This old school mindset is what stifles innovation and progress. Games will have apps, more of them will have apps in the future. Live with it. That being said, there's a literal MOUNTAIN of board games that don't require an app. Play one of those? And if you lose power, how do you play your non-connected board games in the dark? Also, FFG apps are on Steam. The app isn't going anywhere any time soon. This is a non issue. Worrying about if you can play the game in 30 years is pointless. I can still play old school PC games from the 1980's on my PC.
  3. You know you could have full art tiles like in D2e and just make the shape of the tiles generic? They'd look better, and be more modular.
  4. Best sellers by who's metric? Seriously where are you getting that? Most of JiME recycled the art assets (lets avoid having to pay New Line Cinema royalties art) from their LCG LOTR game. It uses the same exact app and mechanics for the most part as all their other app games because they developed the games around the same old tired app at this point. It's also overpriced and has pretty bad tile art (like Descent LOTD) Daddy issues? Dude, you lost the plot completely. And I guess I hit a nerve cause your reaction is comical over reaction. Good day.
  5. I don't get this logic or way of thinking. Technology is everywhere and becoming more ubiquitous every day. Of course board games will have technology to enhance them and remove tedium from them. There's nothing wrong with app driven games. Ppl who ***** about this remind me of the horse and buggy guys shaking their fists and Ford for coming up with cars. They went the way of the dodo by the way. If you don't have power, perhaps open the app on your tablet, phone etc? I'm sure you have one of those? If not, god forbid you play ANOTHER game. Most people who buy board games that cost $175 usually have more than one. They tend to have many. And unless you live in a 3rd world country, how often do you realistically lose power? And when it rarely does, how long?
  6. How about prioritizing staying alive after Armageddon instead of worrying about a board game. You didn't see Viggo Mortensen playing Gloomhaven with his son in The Road when they were splitting bugs for food, did you?
  7. I completely disagree with the thread title. There's a reason they saw a huge uptick in sales when they introduced the coop app. One vs Many games are going out of style and most games that had that found some way to integrate coop or came out with a new edition that ditched 1vsMany (mansions 2e, etc)
  8. Oh and yes, the price for Descent Legends in the Dark is ridiculous. They aren't Games Workshop, so they can't get away with ridiculous markups. I bet at this price all the minis will still all be ziplock bagged and the box will have a giant cardboard insert that takes up 2/3rds of the box. FFG has always had awful packaging, and they have been behind the times in this regard.
  9. I'm a miniature painter and generally prefer minis. Trust me, Gloomhaven is just as good as you've heard. The standees are not an issue. You still get to paint the hero minis (they aren't the best quality sadly). It's a fantastic game and passing on it just because of the standees is doing yourself a disservice.
  10. Blind fanboying is just as disruptive to the community. Nothing like shutting down everyone who doesn't agree with you so you can blindly sing kumbaya. People have legitimate issues with the game. Despite what you may think, this is the sort of feedback companies want, not "OMG it's amazing and perfect ignore everyone else!!!1!!!". FYI - I thought JiME was boring, had terrible art, and just recycled the same old race against the clock app from Descent 2e. Hard pass.
